현재 도서관에서 구축할 수 있는 가장 효율적인 서비스 방안으로서는 꼭 필요한 저널과 데이터베이스는 웹으로 구현 가능한 것을 선택하는 것이다. 또한 이용자들의 최신 정보 요구를 충족시키기 위해 이메일로 목차서비스를 실시하는 것이다. 이 글에서는 현재 사용화된 웹 데이터베이스의 현황을 살펴보고 이를 이용하여 구축할 수 있는 전자도서관 모형을 소개하고자 한다.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the current situation of national and international e-book ecosystem, reveal a conflict and suggest the improvement strategies regarding e-book lending service in public libraries. For this, an extensive research was conducted concerning overall e-book issues and reveled the criteria for each sectors. The relationship and different view between publishing and library sector were presented. Then, the five public library e-book lending principles, developed by foreign national or international library associations, were analyzed. The seven main principles were derived and mapped to the current practice of publishers. As a result, the possible countermeasures of the Korean public library were suggested, particularly in terms of the mission of public library, development a standardized lending model, and the revision of law.

This study investigated the copyright problems in the course of distance teaming. The Copyright Act of Korea is built to protect the rights of authors and the rights neighboring on them and to promote fair use of works in order to contribute to the improvement and development of culture. However, for efficient use of library's materials for distance education, some articles in the Copyright Act of Korea is needed to be changed. We suggested the revision in the article 23 “Reproduction for the Purpose of School Education” and the article 28 “Reproduction in Libraries, etc”.

초고속 정보 통신 기반 응용 서비스 분야 중의 하나인 전자 도서관 시스템은 많은 기술적인 요구 사항을 가지고 있다. 특히 보안 기술은 문서 서비스에 대한 사용료 지불 문제, 저작권 보호 문제 등과 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있는 쟁점 중의 하나이다. 전자 도서관에서 요구되는 보안 기술로는 문서에 대한 접근 통제 기술, 사용자 인증 기술, 문서와 사용자 데이터에 대한 비밀 보장 기능 등 여러 가지가 있다. 이 논문은 분산 환경에서 사용자 인증 기능을 제공하는 MIT Kerberos를 사용하여 전자 도서관에서 사용자 인증 기능을 제공하는 방법을 제안하였다.

In the digital library environment, user-librarian interaction is an essential echanism for dealing with user's information needs. This study, first, explores the importance of user-librarian interactions, and then a few types of interaction mechanisms are reviewed. A survey of the current trends in Korea is followed. finally, several ideas for activating user-librarian interactions are suggested with the purpose of giving effective information servicees.

This study suggests that the model of electronic document delivery service be carried out by academic libraries step by step, based on the analysis of the domestic and foreign status. The model consists of the user's request step, electronic document building step, electronic document transferring step. Academic libraries should perform the electronic document delivery service step by step that satisfies user's information need.

Libraries have a variety of resources due to the endless changes of the library environment. Electronic resources have become the one of the important library resources. As an electronic resource, e-Book has emerged recently and is worth of notice to be a great resource in the libraries. This study reviews the history and special features of the e-Book. This paper analyzes the functions and problems of e-Book and changes of the library services related e-Book. The purpose of the study is to point out the problems and suggest the possible solutions of e-Book usages in the university libraries by the survey.

The purpose of this study is to suggest formulation of collection development policies of electronic materials for special libraries related to economy and society. First, according to the basic directions and aims of special libraries, the written collection development policies should be codified. Second, the electronic materials selection committee or collection development committee should be formed at the organization level. Third, the special libraries should make advantageous contracts of purchase based on the cooperations between libraries through the formation of a consortium. Fourth, librarians in charge of collection development need to have substantial work abilities to cope with their role and expertism in the electronic environment. Fifth, to activate electronic materials, the strategy for budget increases should be made.
