Effect of Cations on Resting Potential and Pump Activity of Unfertilized Mouse Eggs (Mouse Egg의 안정막전압과 Pump 활동에 대한 양이온의 효과)

  • The present study was performed to observe the effects of cations on resting membrane potential and pump activity in the unfertilized eggs of ICR strain mice. After an induction of superovulation, the fresh eggs with zona pellucida were collected and the membrane potentials were recorded. Recordings of membrane potential in this study was obtained from the physiological conditions ($37^{\circ}C$ and 4mM Ca in standard solution), differently from the another reports with unphysiological conditions (room temprature and high Ca in standard solution) for a stable and long-lasting observations. Presented data was obtained within 6 hours after collection from the oviduct. The results observed are as follows, 1) Resting potential of the unfertilized eggs was $-25.8{\pm}3.8mV$ $(Mean{\pm}Se,\;n=31)$. 2) As the K ion concentration was increased, resting membrane potential was depolarized but showed hyperpolarization with $K^{+}$ below 25mM. 3) Alteration of the resting membrane potential for the changes of $Na^{+}$ concentration were hardly observed, while resting potential was hyperpolarized as $Ca^{2+}$ concentration was increased. 4) Pump activity as transient or prolonged hyperpolarization was $-2.29{\pm}0.75mV$ $(Mean{\pm}Se,\;n=16)$, the hyperpolarization was increased in both amplitude and duration under the 10mM $Ca^{2+}$ solution. 5) Hyperpolarization due to pump activity was decreased or disappeared by $5{\times}10^{-5}\;M$ ouabain treatment and could not be observed under the both Na-free and Ca-free solutions. 6) Above results are likely to suggest that the resting potential of the mouse unfertilized eggs is affected to mainly by Ca-dependent K conductance and Na-Ca exchange mechanism and that there is pump activity coupling between $K{+}$, $Na^{+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$.

Corrosion mitigation of photovoltaic ribbon using a sacrificial anode (희생양극을 이용한 태양광 리본의 부식 저감)

  • Degradation is commonly observed in field-aged PV modules due to corrosion of the photovoltaic ribbon. The reduced performance is caused by a loss of fill factor due to the high series resistance in the PV ribbon. This study aimed to mitigate the degradation by corrosion using five sacrificial anodes - Al, Zn and their alloys - to identify the most effective material to mitigate the corrosion of the PV ribbon. The corrosion behavior of the five sacrificial anode materials were examined by open circuit potential measurements, potentiodynamic polarization tests, and galvanic current density and potential measurements using a zero resistance ammeter. Immersion tests for 120 hours were also conducted using materials and damp heat test tests were performed for 1500 hours using 4 cell mini modules. The Al-3Mg and Al-3Zn-1Mg sacrificial anodes had a low corrosion rate and reduced drop in power, making then suitable for long-term use.

  • hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN), rhombohedral Boron Nitride (rBN)과 고밀도의 wurzitic Boron N Nitride (wBN), cubic Boron Nitride (cBN) 등의 다양한 상을 갖는 Boron nitride는 그 결정구조에 따라 저밀도, 고밀도 박막으로 분류되며 이중 hBN과 rBN은 층간 결합이 약한 $sp^2$ 결합특성을 가지고, wBN 과 cBN은 강한 $sp^3$ 결합특성을 가지고 있다. 현재까지 $sp^3$결합을 갖는 BN의 우수한 특성을 응용하기 위한 수 많은 연구들이 있어왔다. 특히 cBN은 다이아몬드에 버금가는 높은 경도뿐만 아니라 높은 화 학적 안정성 및 열전도성 등 우수한 물리화학적 특성을 가지고 있어 마찰.마모, 전자, 광학 등의 여러 분야에서의 산업적 응용이 크게 기대되고 있다. 그러나 이와 같이 BN박막의 기계적 물성과 관련한 연 구는 많이 진행되어 왔으나 전기.전자적, 광학적 특성에 관한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 BN박막의 또 다른 웅용 분야를 탐색하고자 ME - ARE (Magnetically Enhanced A Activated Reactive Evaporation)법 에 의 해 합성 된 BN박막의 광학적 특성 에 관하여 조사하였다. BN박 막합성 은 전자총에 의 해 증발된 보론과 질소.아르곤 플라즈마의 활성 화반응증착(Activated Reactive E Evaporation)에 의해 이루어졌다. 기존의 ARE장치와 달리 열음극(hot cathode)과 양극(anode)사이에 평 행자기장을 부가하여 플라즈마의 증대시켜 반웅효율을 높였다. 합성실험용 모재로는 기본적인 특성 분 석을 위해 p-type으로 도핑된 (100) Si웨이퍼를 $30{\times}40mm$크기로 절단 후, 10%로 희석된 완충불산용액 에 10분간 침적하여 표면의 산화층을 제거한 후 사용하였으며, 광학특성 분석을 위해 $30{\times}30mm$의 glass를 아세톤으로 탈지.세척한 후 사용하였다. 박막합성실험에서 BN의 광학적 특성에 미치는 공정변수의 영향을 파악하기 위하여, 기판바이어스 전압, discharge 전류, $Ar/N_2$가스 유량비 등을 달리하여 증착하였다. 증착된 박막은 FTIR 분석을 통하 여 결정성을 확인하였으며, AFM 분석을 통하여 코팅층의 두께를 측정하였고, UV - VIS spectormeter를 이용하여 투광특성을 평가하였다.

Characterization of field emission behavior from vitreous carbon (유리화 비정형 탄소의 전계방출 거동)

  • Field emission behavior from vitreous carbon powders deposited on Mo coated glass by electro-phoretic method was investigated. Although the vitreous carbon has only $sp^2$ hybridized carbon bond, we could observe an excellent field emission behavior. Reproducible electron emission was observed without initiation process which is known to be needed in most carbon cathode materials. Critical electric field for electron emission was in the range from 3 to 4 MV/m. The effective work function was estimated to be about 0.06 eV, as obtained from the slope of Fowler-Nordheim plot. The stability of the emission behavior characterized by repeated I-V measurements, was much superior to the Si tips. We observed the possibility of full area light emission in vitreous carbon materials. This results showed that the field emission is not intimately related to the $sp^3$ hybridization of carbon, but the electrical properties of cathod/electrode interface or the conductivity of the cathode materials which required for the electron transport to the cathode surface.

  • Carbon nanotube are nanostructure with extraordinary field emission properties like high current density, low driving voltage and long time stability, because of their high electrical conductivity, high aspect ratio for geometrical field enhancement and superior thermal stability. But, there is some problem to mate metal and carbon nanotube, we have resolved this problem by using interfacial graphene. This approach takes advantage of superior electric and thermal conductivity between metal and carbon nanotube and shows superior performance compared to the existing field emitters. This result shows that such a carbon nanotube emitter in a stage where it can be used for Field Emission Electric Propulsion (FEEP).

Electrochemical Properties of Polypyrrole/Polyfuran Polymer Composite Electrode (피롤/퓨란 고분자 복합체 전극의 전기화학적 성질)

  • Poly pyrrole polymer(ppy) has an excellent electrical conductivity and can be easily polymerized on anode to give various morophology according to doped anion on electroactive sites. To improve the properties of brittleness, ageing and hydrophobisity, poly furan polymer(pfu) having a high initiation potential was anodically implanted in this porous ppy film matrix to get the Pt/ppy/pfu(x)type of polymer composite electrode. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance methods were used to these electrode, where $PF_6^-,\; BF_4^-$, and $ClO_4^-$ ions were employed as dopants. The composition of the pfu(x) at the electrode was changed from 0 to 1.10, but the range was useful only at 0.1 to 0.2 as the redox electrode. The polymer composite electrode doped with $PF_6^-$ was better in charge transfer resistance by a factor of 40 times and in double layer capacitance by a factor of 20 times than others. The charge transfer in the polymer film of the electrode was influenced on frequency change and equivalent circuit of this electrode had Warburg impedance including mass transfer.

  • We investigate the effects of high input power on the performance of optical bistable symmetric self-electooptic effect devices (S-SEEDs) using extremely shallow quantum wells (ESQWs). In this study, we consider the four ESQWs SEEDs; anti-reflection (AR)-coated ESQWs S-SEED, back-to-back AR coated ESQWs S-SEED, asymmetric F뮤교-Perot (AFP) ESQWs S-SEED, and back-to-back AFP-ESQWs S-SEED. As the input power increases, device performances such as on/off contrast ratio, on/off reflectivity difference are seriously degraded because of ohmic heating and exciton saturation. On the other hand, switching speed of the device increases up to certain value and then begins to decrease. With reasonable optimization of the input power for the best switching speed operation of the devices in a cascading optical interconnection system, we simulate and analyze the system bit-rate of the various ESQWs S-SEEDs, for a mesa of $5{\times}5{\mu}m^2$ size, changing the namber of quantum wells for the external bias of 0 V and -5V.

A Sensing Method of PoRAM with Multilevel Cell (멀티레벨 셀을 가지는 PoRAM의 센싱 기법)

  • In this paper, we suggested a sensing method of PoRAM with the multilevel cell When a specific voltage is applied between top and bottom electrodes of PoRAM unit cell, we can distinguish cell states by changing resistance values of the cell. Especially, we can use the PoRAM as the multilevel cell due to have four stable resistance values per cell. Therefore, we proposed an address decoding method, sense amplifier and control signal for sensing of a multilevel cell. The sense amplifier is designed based on a current comparator that compared a cell current the cell with a reference current, and have a low input impedance for a amplification of the current. The proposed circuit was designed in a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, we verified to sense each data "00", "01", "10", "10" by four states of a cell current.

PUF Logic Employing Dual Anti-fuse OTP Memory for High Reliability (신뢰성 향상을 위한 듀얼 안티퓨즈 OTP 메모리 채택 D-PUF 회로)

  • A typical SRAM-based PUF is used in random number generation and key exchange process. The generated out puts should be preserved, but the values are changed owing to the external environment. This paper presents a new D-PUF logic employing a dual anti-fuse OTP memory to the SRAM-based PUF. The proposed PUF can enhance the reliability of the logic since it can preserve the output values. First, we construct the OTP memory using an anti-fuse. After power up, a SRAM generates the random values owing to the mismatch of cross coupled inverter pair. The generated random values are programed in the proposed anti-fuse ROM. The values that were programed in the ROM at once will not be changed and returned. Thus, the outputs of the proposed D-PUF are not affected by the environment variable such as the operation voltage and temperature variation, etc. Consequently, the reliability of the proposed PUF will be enhanced owing to the proposed dual anti-fuse ROM. Therefore, the proposed D-PUF can be stably operated, in particular, without the powerful ECC in the external environment that are changed.

Novel 10 GHz Bio-Radar System Based on Frequency Multiplier and Phase-Locked Loop (주파수 체배기와 PLL을 이용한 10 GHz 생체 신호 레이더 시스템)

  • This paper presents a novel 10 GHz bio-radar system based on a frequency multiplier and phase-locked loop(PLL) for non-contact measurement of heartbeat and respiration rates. In this paper, a 2.5 GHz voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with PLL is employed to as a frequency synthesizer, and 10 GHz continuous wave(CW) signal is generated by using frequency multiplier from 2.5 GHz signal. This paper also presents the noise characteristic of the proposed system. As a result, a better performance and economical frequency synthesizer can be achieved with the proposed bio-radar system. The experimental results shows excellent bio-signal measurement up to 100 cm without any additional digital signal processing(DSP), and the proposed system is validated.
