A Case study on Storytelling Experiential Exhibition at the National Lighthouse Museum (국립등대박물관 스토리텔링 체험전시 연출 사례연구 -<등대와 과학> 상설전시를 중심으로-)

  • This paper examines the approaches to science operational exhibitions and storytelling to enhancing visitors of the National Lighthouse Museum of Korea. Through this case, our museum aims to share its directions of the scientific exhibition and development direction of the Aids to Navigation Heritage Museum. The exhibition content was storytelling to naturally guide the flow along the story, and the exhibition coordinating was designed as an experiential exhibition so that visitors could interestingly experience the scientific principles applied to navigation signs.

  • Because the exhibition space in the virtual reality is another kind of reality, which exits in another level, it enables us free from time and physical space, so using the virtual reality will be an effective practice for overcoming cultural divide and managing museums. Especially, virtual reality could transform a fixed physical space into portable contents, so this characteristic would be useful and meaningful when applying the outreach program, which claimed to stand for 'museum out of museum' as following. First, it will give more opportunities of experiencing museums to many people because of freedom of physical space, one of the advantages virtual reality has. Second, people will experience and understand the contents under the context, rather than simply exposing information of artifacts one by one. Third, even people who are far from a museum can experience identical contents at the same time, so this synchronicity will enhance communications among people and the society. Fourth, it will provide rich contents to people by putting a variety of exhibitions into one VR device. Fifth, it will be useful for archiving the exhibition with minimizing the loss of contents. Sixth, VR will convert museum visitors from observers to operators. Finally, VR can expand the target audience of the outreach program and develop a variety of education programs. Because museums is a public organization for overcoming cultural divide and enhancing communication, they should adopt virtual reality, which enables to extend the exhibition space and provide more opportunities of experiencing museums.

A Study on the Characteristics of Children's Experience Exhibition Based on Tangible User Interface (TUI(Tangible User Interface)기반의 어린이 체험전시 특성 분석 연구)

  • This study is a basic research towards diffusion of discourse regarding TUI-based experience exhibition. In that purpose this study tries to find out the development type of children's experience exhibition using TUI by analyzing children's experience exhibition phenomena that are changing in digital environment. For the sake of this research, cases of experience exhibitions were analyzed and characteristics were derived based on TUI(Tangible User Interface) and on the types of tangibles. As results of this study, TUI elements were found in the order of interactive planes, connection of bits and atoms, and environmental media and Tangibles were ranked in the order of stuff, planes, devices, and space types. This fact shows that TUI is actively used in experience exhibitions where children's active participation and extended experience is necessary.

  • This paper is concerned with the domestic and foreign PV integrated projects in view of structural design. These projects are classified with public and display 6 facilities. The evaluated items are natural integration with building, engineering details and innovative new design. 6 domestic public and display facilities are frequently using isolated supporting system at roof, but show weakness in design integration. But the cases, using the PV panel in the stage of design some display facilities, are increasing. In the other hand, foreign public and display facilities are using the modul connection majorly and the structural and design integration are obtained.

  • 소셜 미디어(social media)가 급속히 발달하고 대중화되면서, 뮤지엄(museum)의 관람객은 시 공간의 제약 없이 뮤지엄의 콘텐츠를 향유하는 동시에, 전통적인 관람객의 역할을 넘어 매개자(mediator), 프로슈머(prosumer), 그리고 크리에이터(creator)로 활동하고 있다. 또한, 뮤지엄도 고유의 업무 수행에 다수 관람객의 참여를 유도하며 관람객과 적극적으로 소통하고 있다. 이러한 흐름 속에, 이화여자대학교박물관에서는 소셜 미디어를 기반으로 사전 설문조사를 진행하여 작품에 대한 설문 참여자의 반응을 수집한 후 이를 바탕으로 큐레이션에 대중의 선호도를 반영하는 '관람객 참여전시'를 개최하였다. 더 나아가 알고리즘 기반 전시 큐레이션 모델도 개발하였는데, 이 모델은 앞의 관람객 참여전시에서 얻은 데이터를 활용하여 컴퓨터가 일반 관람객의 개인적 취향에 부합하는 작품을 자동으로 추천하고, 이를 바탕으로 개별 관람객에게 '개인적으로 최적화된' 전시를 구성할 수 있는 기반을 제공한다. 본 논문은 이러한 이화여자대학교박물관의 최신 전시활동을 소개하며, 초연결, 초지능화의 시대에 관람객들이 뮤지엄에 다양하게 참여하고 함께 소통할 수 있는 방법을 모색하고자 한다.

  • 아동 청소년을 대상으로 하는 대부분의 '우주'관련 도서들이 아직 현대 천문학을 적극적으로 다루지 못하고 있고, 과학관의 상설전시만으로는 천문우주 분야의 비약적인 발전상을 대중과 공유하는데 한계가 있는 것이 현실이다. IAU 창립 100주년을 맞이하는 시점에서 관람객의 시야를 넓혀주고, 내용에 대한 체험적 인지를 돕는 천문우주 기획전시의 필요성을 느끼고, 태양계로 국한되는 물리적 우주탐사를 넘어 은하와 우주 전체를 연구하는 현대 천문우주과학을 소재로 하고, 실제 연구방법들을 기반으로 한 체험요소를 연출에 담은 전시를 구상 중이다. 이번 기획전에서는 1900년대 이후 주요 연구성과들을 중심으로 인간의 우주에 대한 호기심과 탐구의 흐름에 따라 관람할 수 있도록 전개하되, 천문학자들이 우주를 연구하는 방법의 원리를 단순화한 체험 프로그램을 설계 운영하여 연구성과에 대한 주입식 정보 전달이 아니라 관람객이 주도적으로 과정부터 이해하여 결과를 인지하도록 하고자 한다. 또한 전시 공간을 주제별 연구실로 꾸미고, 실제 과학자들의 연구사적으로 의미 있거나 인간적인 에피소드를 소개하여 관람객들의 관심과 공감을 끌어내고자한다.

Implementation of Spatial Augmented Reality Using Fog Screen (포그 스크린을 이용한 공간증강현실(SAR) 구현)

  • In this paper, we review the applicability of fog screen to implement 'Spatial Augmented Reality' which displays the image on the whole space of real space or in real space by separating display equipment and user, in contrast to the traditional Augmented Reality. Through three exhibitions and one performance, we confirmed t hat the fog screen, which can be passed through, is a suitable material for implementing the Spatial Augment ed Reality. We found that the hologram production was easier than before because of fog screen. Through the questionnaire survey conducted on performers along with the exhibition, we found that only about half of people know what a fog screen is, and about 10% of the total respondents saw the fog screen. In order to investigate the effect of fog screen on the surrounding space, we conducted an experiment to observe the change of humidity according to the time and distance in the Children's Culture Center of the Asian Culture Center. We found that the humidity within a radius of 5m around the fog screen could increase by 2~3%($6,400m^3$ standard). Thus we provided some safety requirement with fog screen when works made of materials vulnerable to moisture such as paint, paper, and wood are exhibited at the same time with fog screen in the exhibition hall.

  • 한국토지주택공사(LH)가 지난해 11월 서울시 강남구 자곡동 보금자리지구에 개관한 'The Green'관은 주택의 에너지 성능 검증 및 발전 등을 위해 에너지절약, 친환경, 재활용, 공간가변 등 총 60여가지의 신기술을 전시 체험할 수 있도록 해 주목받았다. 분야별로는 에너지제로 관련 33가지, 친환경 재활용 7가지, 공간가변 9가지, 그린IT 12가지 등이다. 본지는 The Green관의 전시 개요 및 기술들에 대해 간략히 소개한다.

The extreme effect, visibility and imphasis are necessary for the efficient exhibition to show the invention Idea and products. Exhibition space's functions is to possess accumulative results and can communicate with visitors. The display in exhibition spare connect space, human and objects. A Study on the Importance and the Satisfaction of the Selection Attributes of the Exhibition and Convention Destination Sites for the MICE(Meeting, Incentive Tour, Convention, and Exhibition) Planners (MICE 기획가의 전시컨벤션 개최지역 선택속성 중요도 및 만족도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the importance and satisfaction of exhibition and convention destinations from the MICE(meeting, incentive tour, convention, and exhibition) planners. Overall, four results were revealed from this study. First, considering the importance of selection attributes, soundproofing, lighting, temperature, A V facilities, the space of main convention hall and exhibition were the most important attributes. Second, hypothesis 1 suggested that there were statistically significant differences in the attributes of convention destination selection based on the socio-demographic variables. More specifically, a statistically significant was found in the 17 attributes out of 5 factors and 4 demographic variables. Third, hypothesis 2 suggested that there were statistically significant in the attributes of convention destination selection based on the planning characteristics of MICE. For instance, statistically significants were found 9 attributes out of 5 factors and the 4 planning characteristics. Fourth, the regional space of exhibition and convention was the most influential to the intention to revisit, followed by exhibition and convention facilities and use cost. And also, considering the recommendation to the other MICE planners who recently have used exhibition and convention centers, the facilities was the most influential, followed by use cost and tourism space surrounding exhibition and convention centers.
