  • In this study, Techno-economic evaluation model for carbon capture & sequestration (CCS) technologies are reviewed. Based on a key parameters of Korea's electricity market, performance data of 10 MW-scale post-combustion $CO_2$ capture pilot plant in Boryong station, the cost of $CO_2$ avoided was evaluated followed by international guideline suggested by IEA CCS costing methods task force. The result showed that Korea's Electricity cost including CAPEX & OPEX of reference power plant is relatively low compared to OECD nations which lead to a lower CCS cost ($33USD\;t/CO_2$). And future work using newly evaluated CAPEX & OPEX data of power plant with/without CCS is recommended.

Hot Corrosion Properties of Heat Resistant Chrome Steels (내열강의 고온부식특성에 대한 크롬함량의 영향)

  • The hot corrosion properties of heat-resistant steels were investigated in an oxidation atmosphere including artificial ash and sulfur dioxide. The heat-resistant steels of T22, T92, T122, T347HFG, Super304H and HR3C were evaluated at 620, 670 and $720^{\circ}C$ for 400 hours. The relationship between the corrosion rate and the temperature followed a bell-shaped curve with a peak rate at around $670^{\circ}C$. The corrosion rates showed a decreasing tendency as the chrome contents of these steels increased from 2.15 wt.% to 24.5 wt.%, and austenitic steels had a lower corrosion rate than ferritic steels. Sulfidation by $SO_2$ as well as molten salt corrosion also had an effect on the total corrosion rate, especially showing an increase in the corrosion rate in ferritic steels. Regardless of the chrome content in the steels and irrespective of the test temperature, the corrosion scale was composed of an outer oxide and an artificial ash mixed layer, a middle oxide layer and inner sulfide, and a mixed oxide layer. As the chrome content increased, the proportion of chrome oxide in the corrosion scale increased. Before spalling of the corrosion scale, voids and cracks were initiated in the sulfide and the mixed oxide layer or at the interface with the substrate.

  • The bonded tendon was adopted to the reactor building of some operating nuclear power plants in Korea and the assessment of the effective prestress force on the bonded tendon is being issued as an important pending problem for continuous operation beyond their design life. The sensitivity analysis of various parameters was carried out to evaluate the effective prestress force using the system identification technique and the optimal parameters were determined for SI technique in this study. The 1/5 scaled post-tensioned concrete beams with the bonded tendon type were manufactured and in order to investigate the relationship of the natural frequency and the displacement to the effective prestress force, impact test, SIMO sine sweep test and bending test using the optical fiber sensor and the compact displacement transducer were carried out. As a result of tests, both the natural frequency and the displacement show the good relationship with the effective prestress force and both parameters are available for the SI technique to estimate the effective prestress force.

  • 본 논문은 3상 계통의 각상 부하 불평형이 전체 계통의 안정성 및 여분성에 미치는 부정적 영향을 최소화하기 위한 ESS(Eenrgy Storage System) 전력변환장치의 제어 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 먼저, 4-Leg 인버터를 불평형 전류제어에 적합한 토폴로지로 선정하고 3상 독립 제어 방식을 적용하였다. 제안한 제어기법을 분석하고 시뮬레이션과 50-kW 4-Leg 인버터 프로토 타입 시험을 통하여 검증하였다.

  • Effects of cyclone and freeboard geometry on solid entrainment loss were investigated with two different types of cyclones and bubbling beds in a gas-solid fluidized bed system. The solid entrainment loss was measured by collected fines during continuous solid circulation condition. Bubbling bed which has an expanded freeboard showed less solid entrainment than the bubbling bed which has a straight freeboard. The cyclone which has a wide gas-solid mixture inlet showed less solid entrainment loss than the cyclone which has a narrow gas-solid mixture inlet. Moreover, the cyclone has a wide gas-solid mixture inlet can capture smaller particles.

  • An HTS power cable is generally composed of 2 layers for conducting and 1 layer for shielding. For the analysis of AC loss of an HTS power cable, 2-dimensional magnetic field analysis is carried out. The magnetization loss in HTS cable core was calculated, and the transport current loss was obtained from the monoblock equation and the elliptical Norris Equation. And the total AC loss of the cable was expected by the sum of magnetization loss and transport current loss. The variation of ac loss with respect to the gap and uncertain factor between the superconducting tapes was investigated, and the ac loss of 22.9kV/50MVA high-Tc superconducting power cable was calculated. These results well agree with those of experiment.

  • Beta rays emitted from tritium in titanium tritide film were simulated with cathode rays of a scanning electron microscope to investigate the effect of beta rays from tritium on semiconductor devices. The cathode ray currents, which vary with the change of applied energy and beam spot size, were measured with Faraday cup. The current from the semiconductor device irradiated with cathode rays at various conditions was measured. The cathode ray current increased with the increase of spot size to a maximum then decreased when the spot sized increased further. The magnitude of current produced in the semiconductor device is proportional to the magnitude of cathode ray current. The magnitude of cathode ray current at each energy level was matched to the intensity of beta ray to simulate the tritium beta ray spectrum. Then the semiconductor characteristics were analyzed with I-V curves.

A Study of Air-source Heat Pump Performance Analysis for Replacing Night Time Electric Heating Boiler (심야전기보일러 대체용 공기열 히트펌프 성능평가)

  • The night time electric cost is cheaper due to electric supply and demand policy in Korea from 1985. Currently about 900,000 customers are using night time electric heating boilers and this causes shift of peak demand time to night in winter and increase of deficit spending. To solve this problem, replacing night time electric heating boiler by air-source heat pump using night time electricity has been proposed. An air-source heat pump can provide efficient heating equipment especially in a warm climate. For estimating the night time electric heat pump COP(Coefficient of Performance), Korean Standard KS C 9306:2010 and European Standard EN-14511:2004 is available. SCOP(Seasonal COP) using European weather bin data is also calculated. SCOP is not available yet but European Committee for Standardization will establish a standard in the near future. The evaluation result show that the replacing night time electric heating boiler by heat pump can be possible.

High Temperature Corrosion Properties of Heat Resistant Chrome Steels in SO2 Atmosphere (고온 이산화황 환경 내 내열 크롬강에 대한 부식특성 연구)

  • The high temperature corrosion properties of heat resistant steels were investigated in oxidation atmosphere including sulfur dioxide. The heat resistant steels of T22, T92, T122, T347HFG and T304H were evaluated at 620, $670^{\circ}C$ for 400 hours. The corrosion rates showed a decreasing tendency while chrome contents of those steels increased from 2 mass.% to 19 mass.%. The in crease in temperature increasement has an more effect on the corrosion rates of low chrome steels than high chrome steels. The weight gains of T22, T92, T304H at $670^{\circ}C$ were 3.7, 1.65, 1.23 times compared with those at $620^{\circ}C$. The external scale formed on T22 was composed of hematite, magnetite and Fe-Cr spinel and internal layer including iron oxide mixed with sulfide. The scales formed on T92, T122, T304H consisted of an outer layer of hematite and inner layer of chrome oxide and hematite. The proportion of chrome oxide at inner layer was increased when the chrome contents in heat resistant steels were increased.
