  • According to IEEE 1662(2009), IPS is a power system where all prime movers produce electrical power that is shared among propulsion, mission, and ship service loads. Discriminating attributes of integrated power systems are flexibility of movers' arrangements, mechanical decoupling between prime movers and propulsors, an increased level of energy conversion and transmission redundancy, and flexibility of redistributing available electrical power for future electronic weapons. IPS could have various steps of power that can be produced at optimal load of movers. In this study, an evaluation method for optimal arrangement of movers was investigated when an IPS warship is projected. The two factors are utilized for the quantitative analysis which are the weight of system as the fighting power and the fuel consumption per year as the economic feasibility. And also the ways for arrangement of system were studied according to existence of small diesel generator. The evaluation method that decides the optimization level is based on the DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis)

  • The purpose of this study is to relieve the residual stress of Al6061 using cryogenic heat treatment. Experimental T6 and cryogenic heat treatments were carried out to define the convective heat-transfer coefficient, which was then applied in the finite-element method (FEM) to predict the residual stress. The predicted residual stress was compared with the residual stress measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results were in good agreement. The mechanical properties were estimated by measuring the electrical conductivity and hardness. In addition, the size and formation of the precipitations were observed by TEM and XRD analysis for both T6 and cryogenic heat treatments. The effects of the cryogenic heat treatment on the residual stress, mechanical properties, and precipitation of Al6061 alloys were thus confirmed.

  • As the need for next-generation flexible electronics grows, novel materials and technologies that can replace conventional indium tin oxide (ITO) for transparent electrodes have been of great interest. Among them, a conducting polymer, especially poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) : poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT : PSS) is one of the most promising candidates because it is mechanically flexible, inexpensive, and capable of being processed in solution. Currently, there are a lot of research efforts on enhancing its electrical conductivity to the level of ITO or metal electrodes through chemical and/or physical processing. In this review article, we present various additives and pre-/post-deposition processing methods for improving the electrical conductivity of PEDOT : PSS. Some of representative reports are also introduced, which demonstrated the use of conductivity-enhanced PEDOT : PSS as transparent electrodes in electronics and energy conversion.

  • Pork was cooked using three kinds of instrument [electric pill (EG) for 5min., microwave oven (MW) for 6min. and reheated using a MW] and then extracted with $80\%$ methanol. The Ames test was performed on the methanol extracts, employing the S. typhimurium tester strain, TA100. The methanol extract of cooked pork showed high mutagenicity ion the 5.0 mg/plate without the S9 mix, but a higher mutagenicity was induced with the S9 mix With increasing refrigeration $(4^{\circ}C)$ and freezing $(-18^{\circ}C)$ periods the extracts showed higher mutagenicities and TBA values, and the same results where shown with reheating. Correlations of the mutagenicity (-S9 mix) and rancidity of the pork cooked by EG, according to storage at and $-18^{\circ}C$ and reheated by MW (1 min), were r=0.85, 0.86, 0.98 and 0.83, respectively. When the MW was used for reheating, the refrigeration storage (r=0.98) showed a higher correlation coefficient than for that stored frozen (r=0.83). From the structure of cooked pork, as observed by SEM, many vapor pathways were viewed in the pork reheated using themicrowave oven.

  • To prevent ozone depletion caused by CFCs, the replacement of Halon with clean agents has been developed in the fire protection field along with refrigerants, detergents, and foaming agents. The alternatives for Halon 1211 have been developed in the portable fire extinguisher area and HCFC-123 is used widely as a clean fire extinguishing agent. The type of expellant gas is important because their own vapor pressure is low. In this study, HCFC-123, HCFC-124, HFC-125, and Novec-1230 were selected as fire extinguishing agents and CO2, which is expected to improve the fire extinguishing ability, was chosen as the expellant gas. For each agent, experiments changing the agent and CO2 amount were carried out and HCFC-123 showed a good result, as expected. The extinguisher, HCFC-123 of 1.5 kg, showed the same ability to suppress a class A and B fire as the extinguisher, HCFC-123 of 2.5 kg, which is currently sold on the market. According to this result, the expellant gas has a subsidiary fire extinguish effect. This can reduce the amount of HCFC fire extinguishing agent, which is categorized in the phase-out alternatives, and is a more eco-friendly and economical fire extinguisher than the previous one. This study can also help solve the problems of CO2 fire extinguishers for class B and C fires, and can be used to extinguish electric and electron facilities fire, which contains large amounts of class A fire combustibles.

  • White LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) offer advantageous properties such as high brightness, improved reliability, lower power consumption, and long lifetimes. An LED is an electronic device that converts an electrical signal into a tight signal and is used not only in Optical Communication Indoor wireless optical illuminating rooms, but also for wireless optical communication systems. Currently, studies about these white LEDs have been being progressed, and in this raper, we discuss the multiplex and the multiple access method of VLC(Visible Light Communication) systems using white LEDs. In proposed system, CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) apples to VLC system to reduce interference of VLC system, and improve capacity. The superiority of OOK modulation is presented in analysis of results by comparing VLC-CDMA communication system using OOK(On-off keying) modulation and BPSK modulation in AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel and Diffuse channel. And we investigate the significance of a solution of interference by multipath by comparing BER in multipath channel and AWGN channel. In the proposed system, we assume Directed LOS(Line Of Sight) and Diffuse Link, and suppose VLC-CDMA using OOC(Optical Orthogonal Code) as methods to increase efficiency of system by removing ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) caused by multiple access, optical spreading code, and also present an analysis of its performance.

  • The reaction rates of substituted quinolines (6-Clqui., qui.) with p-substituted benzoylchlorides $(p-CH_3,\;p-H,\;p-NO_2)$ have been measured by conductometry in acetonitrile, and the rate constants are determined at various temperatures (10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$) and pressures (1, 200, 500, 1000 bar). From the values of rate constants, the activation parameters $(Ea,\;{\Delta}V^{\neq},\;{\Delta}H^{\neq},\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}, \;{\Delta}G^{\neq})$and the pressure dependence of Hammett ρ values were determined. The rate constants increased with increasing temperatures and pressures, and are further increased to introduction to the electron acceptor substituents in substrate $(p-NO_2)$ with quinoline. The activation volume and the activation entropy are all negative. And the Hammett p values are negative for nucleophile ${\rho}_X$ and positive for the substrate ${\rho}_Y$ over the pressure range studied. The results of kinetic studies for pressure and substituent show that these reactions proceed through a typical $S_N2$ reaction mechanism and "associative $S_N2$" favoring bond formation with increasing pressures.

  • As increasing of electrical device usage, social concerns about the possible effects of 60Hz electromagnetic fields (EMF) on human health have increased. The number of people with self-attributed electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) who complain of subjective symptoms such as headache, insomnia etc. also increased. However, we don't know whether the EHS results from psychological factor or real perception to the electromagnetic field. In this study, we simultaneously investigated physiological changes(heart rate, respiration rate, heart rate variability, alpha and beta waves in EEG), subjective symptoms and perception accuracy to assess origins of subjective symptoms according to the EMF exposure. Experiment consists of real and sham sessions and 60Hz 12.5uT magnetic field was on(real) or off(sham) to 15 EHS and 16 nonEHS. As the results, EMF exposure did not have any effects on physiological parameters or subjective symptoms for both groups. There was also no evidence that EHS group perceived the EMFs correctly than the control group. Therefore, the origins of subjective symptoms is not the 60Hz magnetic field but psychological factors.

  • The only observed morphological difference between Spirometra erinqsei and S. mcnsonoides is the uterine shape of the mature proglottid. Two species of worms are thought to be evolutionarily closely related. Biomolecular colnparison of the ho worms by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis was conducted to observe the genetic distance. The 285 rDNA, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (mCOI), and ribosomal internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITSI) fragments were obtained from the worms by PCR. The PCR products were cleaved by 5 four-base pair restriction enzyme combinations (Msp I, Hae III, Alu I, Cfo I, Rsa I) , electrophoresed and analyzed with PAUP 3.1.1. The fragment Patterns or 285 rDNA and Lni demonstrated that two worms were in identical systematic tree with bootstrap number 94 and 100, respectively As for mCOI, bootstrap number was 74 in a different tree. Above results are indicative of recent common ancestry between S. etinocei and S. mansonoides.

  • Understanding characteristics of claypan soils has long been an issue for researchers and farmers because the high-clay subsoil has a pronounced effect on grain crop productivity. The claypan restricts water infiltration and storage within the crop root zone, but these effects are not uniform within fields. Conventional techniques of identifying claypan soil characteristics require manual probing and analysis which can be quite expensive; an expense most farmers are unwilling to pay. On the other hand, farmers would be very interested if this information could be obtained with easy-to-use field sensors. Two examples of sensors that show promise for helping in claypan soil characterization are soil profile strength sensing and bulk soil apparent electrical conductivity (ECa). Little has been reported on claypan soils relating the combined information from these two sensors with grain crop yield. The objective of this research was to identify the relationships of sensed profile soil strength and soil EC with nine years of crop yield (maize and soybean) from a claypan soil field in central Missouri. A multiple-probe (five probes on 19-cm spacing) cone penetrometer was used to measure soil strength and an electromagnetic induction sensor was used to measure soil EC at 55 grid site locations within a 4-ha research field. Crop yields were obtained using a combine equipped with a yield monitoring system. Soil strength at the 15 to 45 cm soil depth were significantly correlated to crop yield and ECa. Estimated crop yields from apparent electrical conductivity and soil strength were validated with an independent data set. Using measurements from these two sensors, standard error rates for estimating yield ranged from 9 to 16%. In conclusion, these results showed that the sensed profile soil strength and soil EC could be used as a measure of the soil productivity for grain crop production.
