  • Grounding insures a reference potential point for electric devices and also provides a law resistance path for fault or transient currents in the earth. The ground impedance as a function of frequency is necessary for determining its performance since fault or transient currents could contain a wide range of frequencies. A copper rod electrode is the most commonly used grounding electrode in electric distribution systems. In this paper, the grounding impedance of copper rods has been measured in frequency raging from 60[Hz] up to 100 [kHz] and an equivalent model of the grounding impedance is identified from the measured values. The grounding impedance under study when a typical lightning surge is injected into the grounding system was simulated numerically and graphically through the use of the EDSA software program.

  • The electrochemical impedance spectra of polyaniline film coated on tungsten electrodes by cyclic voltammetry have been measured in 0.1 M aqueous sulfuric acid solution. An electrochemical cell composed of large redox capacitance and low resistance of PANI-film in series was in agreement with the conductive behavior reported at these potentials. When the PANI was coated on bare tungsten, the electrolytic resistance was only observed. However, on the oxidized tungsten instead of bare tungsten, the resistance of tungsten oxide and the contact resistance between PANI and tungsten oxide were additionally observed. Equivalent electrical circuits have been deduced from the impedance data. It was therfore possible to obtain the parameters of the ionic mass transport within the film.

  • This article involves the application of the fractal geometry to interfacial electrochemistry. Especially, we gave our attention to impedance behaviour of the fractal electrode. First, this article briefly explained the constant phase element (CPE) in electrochemical impedance and the do Levie's transmission line model. Second, we introduced the Nyikos and Pajkossy's theoretical works to approach the CPE phenomena using the fractal geometry. Finally this article presented other various fractal models for analysing the ac response of the rough electrodes.
