To quantitatively evaluate the influence of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) as a supplementary cementitious material on the life-cycle environmental impact of concrete, a comprehensive database including 3395 laboratory mixes and 1263 plant mixes was analyzed. The life-cycle assesment studied for the environmental impact of concrete can be summarized as follows: 1) the system boundary considered was from cradle to pre-construction; 2) Korea life-cycle inventories were primarily used to assess the environmental loads in each phase of materials, transportation and production of concrete; and 3) the environmental loads were quantitatively converted into environmental impact indicators through categorization, characterization, normalization and weighting process. The life-cycle environmental impacts of concrete could be classified into three categories including global warming, photochemical oxidant creation and abiotic resource depletion. Furthermore, these environmental impacts of concrete was significantly governed by the unit content of ordinary portland cement (OPC) and decreased with the increase of the replacement level of GGBS. As a result, simple equations to assess the environmental impact indicators could be formulated as a function of the unit content of binder and replacement level of GGBS.

Volatile flavor components in the mash of Takjus prepared by using Aspergillus oryzae nuruk were identified by using Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Twenty-four esters, 21 alcohols, 10 acids, 9 aldehydes and 4 others were found in the mash of Takju. Thirty six components including 13 esters and 12 alcohols were detected in the beginning of fermentation. Twenty nine components were more detected after second day of fermentation and 68 components were detected after 12 days of fermentation. Thirty five flavor components including 12 alcohols such as ethanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol and benzeneethanol, 13 esters such as ethyl acetate, ethyl caprylate, ethyl butyrate and isoamyl acetate, 4 aldehydes and 6 acids were usually detected in the fermentation process. Ethanol was predominantly found in the range of $79.86{\sim}89.54%$ as a major component by using relative peak area. 3-Methyl-1-butanol, ethyl caprylate and benzeneethanol were some of the major volatile components through the fermentation respectively. Peak area of 2-methyl-1-propanol, 1-hexanol, 1-dodecanol, ethyl acetate, monoethyl butanoate, acetic acid and isobutylaldehyde among the same group were higher than other components depending upon fermentation time.
Volatile flavor components in the mash of takjus prepared by using Rhizopus japonicus nuruk were identified by using GC and GC-MS. Twenty-four esters, 19 alcohols, 9 acids, 10 aldehydes and 4 others were found in the mash of takju. Thirty nine components including 14 esters and 12 alcohols were detected in the beginning of fermentation. Seventeen components were more detected after second day of fermentation and 66 components were detected after 12 days of fermentation. Thirty eight flavor components including 12 alcohols such as ethanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol and 3-methyl-1-butanol, 14 esters such as ethylacetate, ethylcaprylate and isoamylacetate, 6 aldehydes and 5 acids were usually detected in the fermentation process. Ethanol was predominantly found in the range of 76.2149-92.1155% as a major component by using relative peak area. 3-Methyl-1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, ethyl caprylate, 2,3-butanediol and benzeneethanol were some of the major volatile components through the fermentation. Peak area of ethylacetate, diethyl succinate, octanoic acid, acetic acid and isobutylaldehyde among the same group were higher than other component depending upon fermentation time.
In this study, we executed an environmental impact assessment about recycling of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), used for touch panel. ITO is mainly used to make transparent conductive coatings for touch and flat screen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), ELD (Emitting Light Device), PDP (Plasma Display Panel). This demand is increasing little by little. but form current status, ITO is discarded than recycling. It is important to recycling ITO for national strategies about resource conservation, and reduce environmental burden. Also Landfill or incineration of ITO cloud be harmful to the human health in the long-term. Material Life Cycle Assessment method (MLCA) was conducted for comparison landfill and recycling of ITO. MLCA would provide more information for environmental issues and potential environmental impacts of ITO. The study includes two scenarios, the basic scenario is recycling of ITO (10, 20, 30%) and the other scenario is landfill of ITO. In addition, amount of carbon dioxide and energy were calculated.
15 carbon footprint product (CFP) schemes, including Korea Carbon Footprint Label, UK Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label and Japan CFP are implemented in the world. A CFP describes green house gases (GHGs) emissions emitted throughout product's life cycle and is intended to reduce GHGs emissions by labeling a CFP result on product. This study calculates Korea, UK and Japan CFP result of vacuum cleaner, detergent, packagin material in order to analyze the Korea, UK and Japan CFP standards. Our results demonstrate significant differences among then calculated results because of criteria, emission factors, etc. Therefore, there are many difficulties in providing various CFP results and the international standard and guidelines for product category are needed.

In this paper, we have analyzed a simulation model of Slammer worm propagation process which caused serious disruptions on the Internet in the year of 2003 by using NS-2. Previously we had presented and analyzed Abstract Network to Abstract Network(AN-AN) model being modified from the Detailed Network to Abstract Network(DN-AN) of NS-2. However, packet analysis in AN-AN model had a problem of taking 240 hours to simulate the initial 300 seconds of infection. We have reduced the AN-AN model to save the simulation time and analyzed total 3.5 hours of the network congestions within 107 hours. Moreover, we have derived optimal quarantine rate of 0.0022 considering service outage of network devices caused by the heavy infected traffics, which was not taken into consideration in previous works. As the result of simulation, Although the inbound traffic at the Korean international gateway was back in normal conditions at 4,787 second, due to the revese direction saturation was maintained until 12,600 seconds, the service outage was persisted for 3.5 hours.

Modal Shift from road to rail has been adapted in several countries as one of effective ways of reducing $CO_2$ emissions caused by transport. Generally, effect analysis of $CO_2$ reduction toward modal shift is calculated mainly from use stage and less consideration from other stages of life cycle, even though, in some case of modal shift needs that new line construction or new vehicle manufacturing. In this study, modal shift effect analysis is performed with considering construction, manufacturing vehicle and use stage. As a result we can get total $CO_2$ reduction effect using life cycle thinking and check the necessity of including other life cycle stage not only considering use stage. In conclusion, there is no $CO_2$ reduction effect if the reduction amount of $CO_2$ in use stage is not bigger than allocated annual amount of $CO_2$ in construction and manufacturing vehicle stage. According to this fact, analysing $CO_2$ reduction effect of Modal Shift should be considered not only the use stage.
Recently, the platforms for open science are being developed for helping researchers and scientists who are interested in convergence studies. This paper is focused on deriving a design method for an integrated architecture for knowledge infrastructure in science and technology and to set up the integration level of details and association between data and services in the integrated architecture. To facilitate the open science in research lifecycle, reconstructing individual services into modular and independent function blocks needs to be reusable and interoperable. The proposed design methodology is used for manipulating a service integration for the convergence service of S&T(Science and Technology) knowledge infrastructure. It can support to seamlessly access computing resources and the research results including artifacts digitally enabled scholars, researchers, and engineers participating in multidisciplinary collaborations.
Outliers adversely affect model identification, parameter estimation, and forecast in time series data. In particular, when outliers consist of a patch of additive outliers, the current outlier detection procedures suffer from the masking and swamping effects which make them inefficient. In this paper, we propose new outlier detection procedure based on high breakdown estimators, called as the dual robust filtering. Empirical and simulation studies in the autoregressive model with orders p show that the proposed procedure is effective.
