  • The purpose of this present study is to empirically analyze the variables affecting socio-economic performance of social enterprises. For this purpose of 107 enterprises, located in Seoul, was performed under the hypothesis that the authentication properties (authentication type, authentication year) of social enterprises will affect the socio-economic performance. The analysis showed that first; authentication type among the characteristics of social enterprises showed significant effects on the social performance. Second, authentication year among the characteristics of social enterprises showed significant effects on the economic performances. In addition, since the job-creating type showed higher social performance, it would be desirable to raise the certification rate of this type in the future. The analysis implied that longer the years of accreditation, the greater positive effects on the socio-economic performance of social enterprises was shown. Therefore, the present study suggest the need to diversify support policies according to the number of authentication years in order to secure sustainability by maximizing the socio-economic performance of social enterprise because the monolithic support is not very effective for continued growth and self-reliance of social enterprises.

  • Along with the well-established evidence on the negative effect of social isolation on physical mental health and mortality, increasing attention has been paid to multi-dimensional nature of social isolation. In this study, the main effect and interaction effect of objective and subjective social isolation on heterogeneous age cohort related to the onset of dementia, which is becoming a social problem due to rapid aging of health issues, was examined through binary logistic regression analysis. Data came from the first wave of Korean Social Life, Health and Aging Project (KSHAP) (N= 814). Findings showed 1) in the young-old, objective isolation was a significant on the incidence of dementia, 2) in the old-old, subjective isolation increased the risk of dementia. In summary, the relative influence of objective and subjective social isolation related to the incidence of dementia varies depending on the young-old and old-old. On the other hand, the interaction effect of objective and subjective social isolation on dementia was not significant in both the young-old and old-old. Based on the findings, we discussed implications and suggestions for future research and relevant policy and program development(dementia-friendly communities) for ameliorating objective and subjective social isolation.

  • This study examined the relationship between social support and the subjective well-being of the elderly living in urban areas. The study subjects were 382 elderly people aged 65 or older living in D metropolitan city. The survey was conducted through a personal interview by investigators who visited the study subjects using a structured questionnaire from May 1 to June 30, 2019. As a result, the subjective well-being of the study subjects differed significantly depending on various variables in the sociodemographic, health condition and, health-related behavior characteristics. The subjective well-being according to social support was significantly lower for the groups with lower social support. The correlation of subjective well-being and social support showed a significant positive correlation. Logistic regression showed that the risk of lower subjective well-being increased significantly in the group (Q1), where the total score of social support was very high (Q4). The above results suggest that the subjective well-being of the elderly living in urban areas was not only related to various variables in sociodemographic, health condition, and health-related behavior characteristics but also has significant relationships for social support. Therefore, it is necessary to develop detailed social support practices to improve the subjective well-being.

Subjects were enrolled in the fifth, sixth, 1st, & 2nd grades of elementary and junior high schools. The instruments were Teenage Inventory of Social Skills, Perceived Social Support from Family & Friends, Child Depression Inventory, and Antisocial Behavior Scale. Results indicated that there were positive relations between social skills and social support from family and friends. The more social support from family children and adolescents had, the less depression and antisocial behavior they reported. For depression, children and adolescents showed a significant sex difference. In the case of antisocial behavior, only adolescents revealed a significant sex difference. Depression was explained by social support from family most for both children and adolescents. Antisocial behavior was explained by social skills most especially for children. The results discussed in the context of the effects of social skills and social support on emotional and behavioral adjustments.

  • In recent 10 years the attention to social entrepreneurship has raised increasing among scholars, public sector, and community development. However less research has been conducted on how social entrepreneurship intention create a social enterprise and what factors can be affected to the social entrepreneurial intentions. This paper aims at contributing to identify the antecedents of entrepreneurial behavior and intentions. Especially, we have had a strong interests in compassion factors which haven't been used as important variables to encourage for people to do social entrepreneurial activities. Also, we try to find the moral obligation and perceived social support as antecedents of social entrepreneurial intentions. Finding show that compassion and moral obligation affect to the social entrepreneurial intention. Especially this study identify the external factor of society with the variable, perceived social support. Once individuals recognize that the infrastructure and societal positive mood on social entrepreneurship is friendly to social entrepreneurship, people have a tendency to try to do some social entrepreneurial activities. Only few empirical studies exist in this research domain. A study of more than 271 Korean college students has studied which personal traits predict certain characteristics of social entrepreneurs (such as having social vision or looking for social innovational opportunities). In addition to those antecedents, students experience is the critical factor that enabled continued expansion of the social entrepreneurial activities. The results of this research show how we can nurture social entrepreneurs and how we can develop the social environment to promote social entrepreneurship.

  • Despite the rapid growth and importance of social enterprises in recent years, most social enterprises have many limitations such as small business size, financial dependence on government, lack of professional management personnel and knowledge, and low consumer awareness. Therefore, empirical research in the field of marketing is needed for economic independence of social enterprises. This study is based on the following: First, the identity of the social enterprise and the self-image of the consumer, second, the functional correspondence between the consumer's expectation and actual performance of the social enterprise's product, and third, the social value of the social enterprise product, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of consumer value consistency on customer satisfaction and loyalty to social enterprises. Finally, this study aimed to suggest the moderating role of social enterprise clubs in this process to give implications for the long-term marketing of social enterprises. The results of this study are as follows. First, self-image consistency, functional correspondence, and value correspondence all have positive effects on the satisfaction of social enterprise and its products and form a loyalty. Secondly, whether or not the social enterprise club belonged to them is a moderating variable that raises sensitivity in the effects of self image consistency and functional consistency on customer satisfaction and customer satisfaction on loyalty. It was found to be.

  • This study addresses the crucial role of Christian Religious Education (CRE) amidst civic polarization, moral disimagination, and learned helplessness. It begins her personal background as a 1.5-generation Vietnamese American and her academic engagement in immigrant faith and the challenges of teaching faith in violent contexts. The work underscores the public dimension and impact of religious education, highlighting its potential for fostering critical capacities for public engagement. However, that study observes a prevalent disconnection between congregational culture and the aim of public engagement, leading to a form of learned helplessness among students and communities. The researcher draws on Paulo Freire's concepts of "critical hope" and the need for a curriculum that transcends mere content delivery to foster transformative engagement with societal issues. The document critiques the disimigination machine that undermines critical thinking and collective resistance, as articulated by Henry Giroux, and explores the concepts of "learned helplessness" as a barrier to environmental and social activism. The researcher advocates for a theopoetic and theopolitical approach to education that nurtures hope and practical engagement with the world's injustice. She emphasizes small acts of theopoetic and theopolitical hope as transformative practices, using an example from Ferguson, Missouri, to illustrate how public liturgy and protest can mediate hope and justice. The document concludes with a call for a life-long, life-wide, and life-deep curriculum of enchantment towards responsible participation in societal repair, rooted in Christian hope.

  • This study investigates the effects of empathy responses towards animated spokes-characters in advertising on brand likability. This study also examines the mediating role of cognitive and affective responses towards character advertising in the effect process of empathy. Statistically, several significant results are found. First, empathy has positive effects on cognitive responses and affective responses. Second, both cognitive and affective responses have positive influence on brand likability, but the effects of cognitive responses show relatively weaker than those of affective responses. Third, empathy has a positive influence on brand likability mediated by cognitive responses, but affective responses as a mediator do not show statistically significant differences. The results of this study indicate consumers can have emotional responses to advertising characters just as they do to human information sources. And the results also imply that enhancement of the empathy intensity should be considered to make effective animated characters in advertising, and that advertising appeals should be practiced to form cognitive responses positively and strongly to strengthen consumers' empathy responses.
