Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC for CDMA System (CDMA 시스템을 위한 Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC)

  • In this paper, Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC eliminating effectively the multiple access and multipath interference for DS-CDMA based W-CDMA uplink system is designed and its performance is evaluated with computer simulation. By adaptively controlling the slope of the soft limiter with received signals, the efficiency of the soft limiter can be maximized and the better performance is obtained by solving error floor problem using further precise generation of interference signal. As a result, The proposed Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with simple optimizing method for time-variant channel showed optimum performance at fewer stages. Besides fewer stages, the interference cancellation at the output of the rake receiver considerably reduced system complexity. The Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with precise generation and efficient cancellation of interference signal can solve error eoor problem, resulted from initial false detection and improve system performance of high data rate system.

Adaptive Error Control Scheme for Supporting Multimedia Services on Mobile Computing Environment (이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 멀티미디어 서비스 지원을 위한 적응적 에러 제어 기법)

  • Mobile computing has such characteristics as portability, wireless network, mobility, etc. These characteristics cause various problems to mobile terminals like frequent disconnection, high error rate, and varying network status. These problems motivate us to develop an adaptive error control mechanism for supporting multimedia service in mobile computing environment. In this paper, we propose the Adaptive Error Control(AEC) scheme using client's buffer size and current error rate. After categorizing the status into four groups according to client's buffer size and current error rate, this scheme applies an appropriate error control scheme to each status. In this scheme, thresholds of buffer size and error rate are determined by the data transmission time, play rate and average VOP size, and by the probability of error for a sequence of packets. The performance of proposed scheme is evaluated by flaying MPEG-4 files on an experimental client/server environment, respectively. The results show that error correcting rate is similar to other schemes while the time for correcting error reduce a little. In addition, the size of data for correcting error is decreased by 23% compared with FEC and Hybrid FEC, respectively. Theses results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is more suitable in mobile computing environment with small bandwidth and varying environment than existing schemes.

  • Several methods to resurface the lost cartilage of the knee have been used; multiple drilling, microfracture, abrasion arthroplasty. Resurfaced cartilages resulting from above techniques are mostly fibrocartilage. Autologous osteochondral graft transfer and autologous chondrocyte transfer are known to resurface the lost cartilage with mostly hyaline cartilage. This article reviews basic researches, indications, operative technique, and clinical results of autologous osteochondral graft transfer.

  • Smoothing is to creating a transmission plan consisting of sections of frames that can be sent at the same transmission rate for compressed and stored video data. Various algorithms have been studied for the smoothing to minimize the number of transmission rate changes, the number of transmission rate changes, and the amount of transmission rate increase. This study evaluates the performance of a smoothing algorithm that minimizes the increase in transmission rates and maximizes the increase in transmission rates when the transmission rate is required to maximize the excess bandwidth to be secured by the server in an environment with limited server bandwidth. The available transmission rates and buffer sizes available in the server are set in various ways and evaluated by the number of fps changes, the minimum fps, the average fps, and fps variability. As a result of the comparison, the proposed algorithm showed excellent average fps and fps variability.

A Study on the Landscape Design Strategies for Regeneration of Post-Industrial Sites of the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Region in China (중국 경진당(京津唐) 지역 산업 이전적지(移轉跡地) 재생 전략 연구)

  • This study aims to discover the implications through the analysis of the characteristics and design strategies of the regeneration of the post-industrial sites in the metropolitan the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region. This study provides a basis for future research and theoretical strengths for post-industrial site regeneration practices. The results of the study are as follows. First, post-industrial site regeneration projects pursue diverse goals such as industrial heritage preservation, cultural creativity, and neighborhood revitalization in the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region. Second, in the design process, the characteristics and spatial levels of the space are enhanced by utilizing the original industrial space, incorporating transitional space, and using industrial facilities of varying heights. Third, old and new landscape elements are harmoniously integrated through the rational use of industrial relics and the appropriate addition of new elements. Fourth, the design emphasizes ecological soil restoration and the use of native and adaptable plants that have the capacity to remediate polluted soil. Fifth, the design combines modern artistic elements, such as sculpture and graffiti art to enrich the site and promote the revival of the post-industrial site. Sixth, urban events and public activities are actively programmed to vitalize the regenerated site.

  • The digital video cassette recorder(DVCR) is considered as next generation VCR due to its performance breakthrough in various aspects, such as digital recording and various digital image processing techniques. The purpose of our study is to understand the standardized specifications of the DVCR system, evaluate the performance of the system, and improve the quality of the reconstructed DVCR image. More specifically, in order to enhance the DVCR Image we consider a series of discrete cosine transform(DCT), quantization, inverse DCT, and Inverse quantization as a degradation process of the Imaging system, and propose a fast adaptive image restoration algorithm for reducing blocking artifacts.

  • To guarantee client buffer stabilization and visual quality, the VOD service that provides real time video titles on requirements of numerous users, needs a mechanism which transfers frames with dropping or skipping algorithm by network condition. In this paper, we show an algorithm that transfers withdrawed skipped MPEG frames(I, P, B frame) from disk to client dependent on network load. Moreover, we verify through a simulation that adaptive dealing on network load can reduce the network load and stabilize client receiving buffer.

  • 본 논문에서는 사각 평면이 아닌 실린더나 구 형태의 비평면 스크린에 고품질 파노라마 영상을 렌더링 하기 위해 스틸 카메라를 이용한 자동 캘리브레이션과 멀티 프로젝터를 이용한 파노라마 렌더링 시스템을 제안한다. 스틸 카메라를 이용한 비평면 스크린 캘리브레이션은 특정 패턴을 스크린에 투사하고 이를 촬영하여 프로젝터의 투사 왜곡을 보정하고 멀티 프로젝터간의 중첩 영역에 대한 보정을 자동 수행한다. 캘리브레이션이 완료된 이후에 멀티 프로젝터를 이용하여 고품질의 파노라마 비디오를 렌더링 하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 복수의 멀티 시스템과 동기화 카드를 이용하여 렌더링 시스템간의 재생 동기화를 수행 하였다. 제안하는 렌더링 시스템을 적용하면 기존의 전문가의 수동작업에 의한 인력 및 보정 시간을 줄일 수 있으며, 시스템 환경이 변하더라도 쉽게 적응적으로 렌더링 환경을 구축하는 것이 가능하고 고품질의 파노라마 비디오를 렌더링 하는 것이 가능하다.

  • We proposes an adaptive relay selection scheme for a regenerative (OFDMA) relay network with fairness constrains. The proposed scheme selects the best relays out of a set of potential relays to maximize system capacity. Among these selected relays, subcarriers are reallocated to satisfy fairness constraints as well as to minimize the decrease of the system capacity. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves significant performance improvement over direct transmission and opportunistic relaying with OFDM (OR-OFDM).

  • 본 논문에서는 효과적인 홀로그래픽 비디오 서비스를 다양한 재생환경에서 제공하기 위한 스케일러블 코딩 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 홀로그램과 광원의 차영상을 사용하여 압축을 하는 방식으로 구성된다. 즉, 기존의 스케일러블 코딩방식인 홀로그램 해상도 스케일러블 코딩과 광원의 화질 스케일러블 코딩 방식을 조합하여 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. $1,024{\times}1,024$ 크기의 홀로그램의 차영상에 대해서는 손실압축, 광원의 차영상은 무손실 압축을 이용하여 스케일러블 코딩을 수행함으로써 적응적인 서비스가 가능하도록 한다.
