Real-Time Eye Detection and Tracking Under Various Light Conditions (다양한 조명하에서 실시간 눈 검출 및 추적)

  • Non-intrusive methods based on active remote IR illumination for eye tracking is important for many applications of vision-based man-machine interaction. One problem that has plagued those methods is their sensitivity to lighting condition change. This tends to significantly limit their scope of application. In this paper, we present a new real-time eye detection and tacking methodology that works under variable and realistic lighting conditions. Based on combining the bright-Pupil effect resulted from IR light and the conventional appearance-based object recognition technique, our method can robustly track eyes when the pupils ale not very bright due to significant external illumination interferences. The appearance model is incorporated in both eyes detection and tacking via the use of support vector machine and the mean shift tracking. Additional improvement is achieved from modifying the image acquisition apparatus including the illuminator and the camera.

  • 장애인이 지속적으로 증가하면서 장애인들을 위한 복지 시설들 또한 증가하고 있다. 그러나 장애인들이 컴퓨터를 이용하는 데에는 아직까지 많은 불편함을 겪고 있으며, 그 원인으로는 장애인들이 컴퓨터를 보다 편리하게 사용할 수 있는 장치들이 부족하다는 것을 들 수 있다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 적외선 조명 카메라를 이용하여 장애인들이 눈동자와 눈꺼풀의 움직임만으로 마우스를 제어할 수 있는 동공 마우스 시스템을 제안하고 실험을 통하여 그 가능성을 보였다. 제안한 시스템에서는 적외선 조명 카메라, Canny 알고리즘과 퍼지 추론 기법이 이용되었으며, 눈이 포함된 영상에서 Canny 알고리즘으로 동공을 검출하여 마우스 위치를 추정하고 퍼지 추론 기법으로 눈 깜박임을 추정하여 마우스 포인터 이동 및 클릭 기능이 구현되었다. 제안된 기법들을 이용하여 실험하고 그 결과를 분석하였다.

  • 본 연구는 홍삼 등급판정 과정에서 내부 조직 치밀도 분석을 위해 의료 영상 분석 방법을 이용하여 적외선 영상 측정기기를 개발하였다. 기존 홍삼 내부분석방법은 수동으로 암실환경에서 강한 조명을 홍삼에 투과하여 사람 눈으로 직접 판별하는 과정을 거친다. 이러한 기존 검사 과정은 작업 비효율성과 불균일한 검사기준으로 제품 품질 신뢰도 저하의 단점을 가져온다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 연구는 적외선 조명환경에서 자동 측정이 가능한 홍삼 내부 측정기기를 개발하였다. 개발된 장치는 홍삼의 빛 투과 특성을 응용한 920nm 파장대역의 적외선 조명기구, 조명 제어회로, 적외선 대역 촬영이 가능한 영상 측정 카메라 장치, $0.9^{\circ}$의 간격으로 $360^{\circ}$ 홍삼 영상취득이 가능한 회전 엑츄에이터로 구성이 된다. 본 연구에서 제안 하는 홍삼 단층 영상분석 방법은, 홍삼을 $0.9^{\circ}$ 간격으로 회전시키어 $360^{\circ}$ 홍삼 내부영상을 취득하여 라돈 변환(Radon transform)을 통해 사이노그램(Sinogram)으로 재구성 하였으며, 역 라돈 변환(Inverse Radon transform)을 통해 단층 영상복원(Back-projection)알고리즘을 구현하였다. 이 결과 홍삼을 절단하지 않고 홍삼 내부 단면영상 획득이 가능하였으며 내공(內空), 내백(內白)의 유무를 판단하고 직경을 파악할 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 등급 판별 공식을 산출하면 신뢰성 있는 홍삼 등급 자동화 측정기기를 개발할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Efficient Filtering for Depth Sensors under Infrared Light Emitting Sources (적외선 방출 조명 조건 하에서 깊이 센서의 효율적인 필터링)

  • Recently, infrared (IR)-based depth sensors have proliferated as consumer electronics thanks to decreased price, which led to various applications including gesture recognition in television virtual studios. However, the depth sensors fail to capture depth information correctly under strong light conditions emitting infrared light which are very common in television studios. This paper analyzes the mechanism of such interference between the depth sensors relying on certain IR frequencies and infrared light emitting sources, and provides methods to get correct depth information by applying filters. Also, it describes experiment methods and presents the results of applying multiple combinations of filters with different cut-off frequencies. Finally, it proves that the interference due to IR can be filtered out using proposed filtering method practically by experiment.

  • In this paper, we propose a face recognition method which is not sensitive to illumination change and prevents false recognition of photographs. The proposed method uses infrared and depth images at the same time, solves sensitivity of illumination change by infrared image, and prevents false recognition of two - dimensional image such as photograph by depth image. Face detection method using infrared and depth images simultaneously and feature extraction and matching method for face recognition are realized. Simulation results show that accuracy of face recognition is increased compared to conventional methods.
