원전 안전 3 등급 고밀도 폴리에틸렌 매설 배관 맞대기 열 융착부의 인장 피로특성 평가 (Study on Tensile Fatigue Behavior of Thermal Butt Fusion in Safety Class III High-Density Polyethylene Buried Piping in Nuclear Power Plants)

  • 최근에 원자력 발전소 안전 3 등급 배관에 적용되고 있는 고밀도 폴리에틸렌 배관은 융착표면을가열한 후 축방향으로 가압하는 열 융착 공정을 이용하여 맞대기 융착되어진다. 이러한 열 융착공정은 맞대기 융착부에 비드 형상을 발생시킨다. 이러한 비드 형상의 응력집중에 기인하여 피로수명이 줄어들 수 있다. 따라서 피로거동에 미치는 맞대기 열 융착부 비드의 효과를 고찰하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 응력 제어 조건 하의 인장 피로 시험과 유한요소 탄성응력 해석을 수행하여 맞대기 열 융착부의 인장 피로 거동을 고찰하였다. 고찰 결과, 중주기 및 고주기 피로 영역에선 피로수명에 미치는 비드의 영향이 미미한 반면 저주기 피로 영역에선 비드의 존재가 피로 수명을 감소시킴을 확인하였다.

316L 스테인리스 강의 고온 저주기 피로 수명식 개발 (Development of a New LCF Life Prediction Model of 316L Stainless Steel at Elevated Temperature)

  • In this paper, tensile behavior and low cycle fatigue behavior of 316L stainless steel which is currently favored structural material for several high temperature components such as the liquid metal cooled fast breeder reactor (LMFBR) were investigated. Research was performed at 55$0^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$ and $650^{\circ}C$ since working temperature of 316L stainless steel in a real field is from 40$0^{\circ}C$ to $650^{\circ}C$. From tensile tests performed by strain controls with $1{\times}10^{-3}/s,\; l{\times}10^{ -4}/s \;and\; 1{\times}10/^{ -5}/ s $ strain rates at each temperature, negative strain rate response (that is, strain hardening decreases as strain rate increases) and negative temperature response were observed. Strain rate effect was relatively small compared with temperature effect. LCF tests with a constant total strain amplitude were performed by strain control with a high temperature extensometer at R.T, 55$0^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$ and total strain amplitudes of 0.3%~0.8% were used and test strain rates were $1{times}10^{-2} /s,\; 1{times}10^{-3} /s\; and\; 1{times}10^{-4} /s$. A new energy based LCF life prediction model which can explain the effects of temperature, strain amplitude and strain rate on fatigue life was proposed and its excellency was verified by comparing with currently used models.

  • An extensometer system to measure strain and displacement of cylindrical fatigue specimen in a autoclave of high temperature and high pressure environment has been developed by KEPRI. The extensometer reads the displacement caused by fatigue loads at the target length of the specimen installed inside the autoclave. The performance of the extensometer were tested at 15MPa, $315^{\circ}C$ of a operating pressurized water reactor. Two LVDT's of magnet type were connected to the extensometer and used for converting the fatigue displacement to electronic signal. The device is being used for developing environmental fatigue curve of CF8M cast austenitic stainless steel (CASS) in the test condition of low cycle and low strain. This paper introduces the background and results of the development.

  • Austenitic Stainless Steels (ASSs) are widely used as structural materials in the pressurized water reactors (PWRs) because of their superior mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, it is well known that ASSs are susceptible to the environmental assisted cracking (EAC) such as environmental assisted fatigue (EAF) during the long term operation. There have been extensive tests and researches to understand the extent and the mechanisms of environmental effects. In this paper, the world-wide EAF test results of ASSs are introduced including those of Korean test programs. The suggested EAF mechanisms of ASSs are also discussed. Finally, the areas of further research to resolve the issue of EAF are suggested.

Al-Cu-Mn 주조합금의 피로성질에 미치는 Cd 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Cd addition on the Fatigue Properties of Al-Cu-Mn cast alloy)

  • Al-Cu-Mn 주조합금의 피로성질에 미치는 Cd 첨가의 영향을 저주기 및 고주기 피로시험을 통하여 조사하였다. Cd 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 피로수명이 증가하였으며, 인장강도도 증가하였다. 고주기 피로시험결과 피로강도는 115MPa이었으며 피로비는 0.31이었다. 피로시험 결과 균열이 표면에서 발생하여 입계를 따라 전파되었는데 이러한 입계파괴는 입계를 따라 존재하는 무석출대의 영향으로 생각된다. 인장강도값은 Cd이 첨가되지 않았을 경우 330MPa이었으나 0.15%의 Cd이 첨가됨으로써 401MPa 까지 증가되었다.

인공 신경망을 이용한 크리프-피로 상호작용시 수명예측기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Prediction Method using Artificial Neural Network under Creep-Fatigue Interaction)

  • The effect of tensile hold time on the creep-fatigue interaction in AISI 316 stainless steel was investigated. To study the fatigue characteristics of the material, strain controlled low cycle fatigue(LCF) tests were carried out under the continuous triangular waveshape with three different total strain ranges of 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%. To study the creep-fatigue interaction, 5min., 10min., and 30min. of tensile hold times were applied to the continuous triangular waveshape with the same three total strain ranges. The creep-fatigue life was found to be the longest when the 5min. tensile hold time was applied and was the shortest when the 30min. tensile hold time was applied. The cause fur the shortest creep-fatigue life under the 30min. tensile hold time is believed to be the effect of the increased creep damage per cycle as the hold time increases. The creep-fatigue life prediction using artificial neural network(ANN) showed closer prediction values to the experimental values than by the modified Coffin-Manson method.

Cu와 Cu-Zn 합금의 저주기피로 동안 발달한 미세조직 평가를 위한 비파괴기술 (Nondestructive Techniques for Characterization of Microstructural Evolution during Low Cycle Fatigue of Cu and Cu-Zn Alloy)

  • 본 연구에서는 Cu와 Cu-Zn 합금의 저주기 피로 동안 발달한 전위 하부조직의 변화를 비파괴적으로 구분하고 평가하고자 하였다. 비파괴시험으로 초음파속도, 전기비저항 그리고 양성자소멸시간을 측정하였다. 서로 다른 적층결함 에너지를 갖는 Cu와 Cu-Zn에 대해 반복피로시험을 수행하고 이들 재료에서의 전위거동과 비파괴평가 파라미터와의 상관성을 연구하였다. Cu는 전위셀 하부구조를 형성하였지만, Cu-Zn 합금은 피로 사이클에 따라서 전위밀도는 증가하고 단지 평면배열의 전위구조를 형성하였다. 상온에서의 반복적인 피로에 의해 발달한 격자결함인 전위와 공공으로 인해 초음파속도의 감소, 전기비저항의 증가 그리고 양성자 소멸시간이 증가하였다. 비파괴평가파라미터의 지속적인 변화를 보이는 평면배열의 전위구조를 갖는 Cu-Zn에서와 달리, Cu에서는 전위셀구조가 발달하면서 더 이상의 큰 변화를 보이지 않았다.

LNG 저장탱크용 멤브레인의 피로수명 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study for Prediction of Fatigue Life in Membranes of LNG Storage Tanks)

  • LNG 저장탱크에 사용되는 멤브레인은 전체적으로는 선형거동을 하나, 국부적으로는 탄소성거동을 하며, 굽힘과 인장의 복합적인 응력을 받는 구조이다. 즉, 멤브레인 평가는 복합적인 하중을 부과하기가 어려워 소재의 피로특성만으로 평가할 수가 없으며, 실제 대형구조 멤브레인 실 모델을 이용하여 평가해야 하는데 이는 상당한 어려움이 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 멤브레인의 피로특성을 파악하여 LNG 저장탱크에 활용하기 위한 멤브레인 피로수명 예측식을 제안하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we studied low cycle fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal that used automobile body panel. Specimens were manufactured as weld condition and sheet metal using automobile manufacturing company at present. For to know mechanical properties, micro Vicker's hardness test was performed of specimens. But, we can't confirm mechanical properties of weld bead and heat affected zone because laser weld makes very narrow weld bead and heat affected zone than other welding method. Therefore, we performed low cycle fatigue test with similar weldment, dissimilar weldment, similar thickness and dissimilar weldment, and dissimilar thickness and dissimilar weldment for fatigue properties of thickness and welding direction. As well, we analysis stress distribution of base metal, weld bead, and heat affected zone according to strain load using finite element method.

유지시간 효과를 고려한 12Cr 내열강의 열피로 및 저주기 피로 특성 (Thermal-Mechanical and Low Cycle Fatigue Characteristics of 12Cr Heat Resisting Steel with Hold Time Effects)

  • Isothermal and thermal-mechanical fatigue characteristics of 12Cr heat resisting steel used for high temperature applications were investigated including hold time effects. Isothermal low cycle fatigue test at $600^{\circ}C$ and in-phase, out-of-phase thermal-mechanical fatigue test at 350 to $600^{\circ}C$ were conducted using smooth cylindrical hollow specimen under strain-control with total strain ranges from 0.006 to 0.015. Regardless of thermal-mechanical and isothermal fatigue tests, cyclic softening behavior was observed and much more pronounced in the thermal-mechanical fatigue tests with hold times due to the stress relaxation during the hold time. The phase difference between temperature and strain in thermal-mechanical fatigue tests resulted in significantly shorter fatigue life for out-of-phase compared to in-phase. The differences in fatigue lives were dependent upon the magnitudes of plastic strain ranges and mean stresses. During the hold time in the strain-controlled fatigue tests, the increase in the plastic strain range and the stress relaxation were observed. It appeared that the increase in plastic strain range per cycle and the introduction of creep damage made important contributions to the reduction of thermal-mechanical fatigue life with hold time, and the life reduction tendency was more remarkable in the in-phase than in the out-of-phase thermal-mechanical fatigue. Isothermal fatigue tests performed under the combination of fast and slow strain rates at $600^{\circ}C$ showed that the fatigue life decreased as the strain rate and frequency decreased,especially for the low strain ranges.
