With rapid growth in the amount of data transferred on the Internet, traditional storage systems have reached the limits of their capacity and performance. SAN (Storage Area Network), which connects hosts to disk with the Fibre Channel switches, provides one of the powerful solutions to scale the data storage and servers. In this environment, the maintenance of data consistency among hosts is an important issue because multiple hosts share the files on disks attached to the SAN. To preserve data consistency, each host can execute the disk I/O whenever disk read and write operations are requested. However, frequent disk I/O requests cause the deterioration of the overall performance of a SAN cluster. In this paper, we introduce a SANtopia global buffer manager to improve the performance of a SAN cluster reducing the number of disk I/Os. We describe the design and algorithms of the SANtopia global buffer manager, which provides a buffer cache sharing mechanism among the hosts in the SAN cluster. Micro-benchmark results to measure the performance of block I/O operations show that the global buffer manager achieves speed-up by the factor of 1.8-12.8 compared with the existing method using disk I/O operations. Also, File system micro-benchmark results show that SANtopia file system with the global buffer manager improves performance by the factor of 1.06 in case of directories and 1.14 in case of files compared with the file system without a global buffer manager.

기업은 eBusiness를 위하여 다양한 기업 솔루션을 도입하고 있다. 그러나 이것은 오히려 업무가 복잡해지는 어려움을 겪게 만들게 되었다. 이로 인해 주목받고 있는 것이 단일화된 게이트웨이를 통해 정보를 제공받을 수 있는 EP(Enterprise Portal)이다. EP의 도입을 통해 기업은 경쟁력 향상과 정보의 지식화, 비용과 시간의 절감 및 직원과 고객 모두에 대한 생산성 향상을 꿰할 수 있다. 본 논문은 UML 모델링을 통한 포털의 설계로부터 플랫폼에 독립적으로 XML 문서를 저장할 수 있는 XML 저장관리시스템을 기반으로 한 B2B XML Portal을 설계하였다.

한국원자력연구소에서 발생되는 방사성폐기물은 다양한 형태, 다양한 핵종으로 구성되며 소량씩 불규칙한 시기에 발생하는 특성을 갖는다. 이러한 폐기물의 효율적인 관리와 처리를 위하여 체계적인 이력관리와 신속한 통계를 도출할 수 있는 데이터베이스 시스템 구축이 선행과제로 대두되었다. 이에 방사성폐기물 통합관리 시스템(Radioactive Waste Management Integration System ; RAWMIS)을 구축하였으며, 이 시스템은 방사성폐기물의 발생부터 수집, 이동, 처리, 저장 등 처분까지의 이력을 관리하고, 서류간소화 및 인적자원 절약 등의 관리효율성을 제고하여 구현되었다. 또한, 한국원자력안전기술원에서 추진하는 국가적 방사성폐기물 통합 안전관리 체계(Waste Comprehensive Information Database : WACID)와 연계를 할 수 있도록 연구개발의 착수 단계에서부터 공동으로 진행하였다. 본 논문에서는 구축된 시스템의 구현사항과 실제 방사성폐기물 관리에 활용하는 사항을 제시한다. 본 연구를 통하여 구축된 시스템은 방사성폐기물 발생기관의 관리와 처리에 있어서 투명성과 효율을 증가시키고, 정확하고 신속한 정보를 도출할 수 있으며, 방사성폐기물의 관리와 처리공정의 데이터를 확보하여 방사성폐기물 처리 분야 연구의 토대를 제공할 수 있다.

This paper proposes and implements a tool for the development of efficient and reliable expert system. In the expert system the inference is executed, based on the knowledges stored in the knowledge base of specific domain. To acquire the reliable results of inference, the expert system requires the facilities which can access the various kinds of knowledge and maintain the consistency and accuracy of knowledge. In this context this paper implemented the knowledge management system which maintains the consistency and accuracy of knowledge, adding selectively the knowledges without error to the knowledge base by verifying their error before the knowledges are added to the knowledge base. At the same time this paper made the expert system call and use the procedural knowledge and the declarative knowledge in the data base so that it might use the various kinds of knowledge in the process of inference.

With the increasing use of XML, considerable research is being conducted on the XML document management systems for more efficient storage and searching of XML documents. Depending on the base systems, these researches can be classified into object-oriented DBMS (OODBMS) and relational DBMS (RDBMS). OODBMS-based systems are better suited to reflect the structure of XML-documents than RDBMS based ones. However, using an XML parser to map the contents of documents to relational tables is a better way to construct a stable and effective XML document management system. The proposed X-Binder system uses an RDBMS-based inverted index; this guarantees high searching speed but wastes considerable storage space. To avoid this, the proposed system incorporates a path combining module agent that combines paths with sibling relations, and stores them in a single row. Performance evaluation revealed that the proposed system reduces storage wastage and search time.

임베디드 시스템은 용도에 따라서 다양한 기능을 수행하도록 설계된 전용 컴퓨팅 시스템인데, 임베디드 시스템 중 최근 등장한 많은 포터블기기에서 중요시되는 하드웨어 자원이 저장장치이다. 따라서 임베디드 환경에서 저장장치를 관리하기 위한 파일 시스템은 필수 요구 조건이 되고 있다. 파일 시스템은 프로그래머가 시스템 내부의 저장장치에 효율적인 접근을 할 수 있도록 해주는데, 적은 크기의 SRAM 메모리를 사용하는 Audio Player에는 경량의 파일 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 Audio player 시스템을 위한 경량 파일 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

Recently, with the growing use of e-learning, instructors develop new online courses using a variety of contents and then store the results on their computers. These contents should be updated with new information as time goes on, and a new content also can be produced by reusing these ones. However, a lot of time will be needed for instructors to search, edit, and manage various contents stored from place to place on their computers. Currently, the development of the e-learning content management tool. which performs efficiently these functions on the PC environment, leaves much to be desired. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed an e-learning content creation and management system which can manage efficiently a variety of contents stored from different locations on an instructor's computer and can develop easily new online courses. The proposed system can be used widely to develop contents for instructors based on the PC environment. For performance evaluation, this paper compared the proposed system with the previous system according to the retrieval time of content keyword, and the experiment showed that our system is much better than the previous one.

설계 및 엔지니어링 단계에서 설계정보 전자문서관리 시스템을 통한 지식 수집과 축적의 방법을 제시한다. EDM을 이용한 클라이언트/서버 형태 및 웹 버변의 데이터베이스 인터페이스를 설계하며 이를 통한 발전소 정보의 접그니, 저장, 버젼별로 관리 및 이관/복구/백업하도록 하는 시스템 구현방법에 대해 기술한다. 또한 3차원 캐드 뷰어와 연동된 자료의 효율적인 관리방법에 대해 설명한다.

감성 공학 과제가 진행되면서 많은 데이터들이 생산되었다. 하지만 데이터의 효율적인 관리가 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 이에 효과적인 데이터 관리 및 정보 공유, 나아가 다른 연구에의 활용을 목표로 본 연구를 진행하게 되었다. 연구의 큰 틀은 웹 페이지에서 받아들인 데이터를 바로 데이터베이스에 입력·저장하는 것이다. 이로 인해 크게 웹 페이지와 페이지에서 입렵된 데이터를 받아서 저장하는 데이터베이스, 두 부분으로 구분하여 진행하였다. 본 논문은 데이터 관리의 하나의 예시를 제시하고자 한다.

본 논문은 Tertiary 저장장치에 기반한 대용량 비디오 서버를 위한 미디어 캐슁 시스템의 설계와 구현에 대해서 기술한다. 대용량 비디오 서버를 위한 미디어 캐쉬는 디스크 저장 장치를 캐쉬 장치로 사용한다. 캐쉬 관리는 서비스의 안정성을 위해 고정 크기의 캐쉬 블록 단위로 관리되며 캐쉬 교체 정책 또는 연속 미디어의 특성을 고려하여 서비스의 안정성과 연속성을 보장 할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 제시된 캐쉬 관리 정책과 캐쉬 교체 정책을 실제 구현된 서버를 바탕으로 성능 분석한다.
