  • Recent research on information and communication technology and Internet-of-Things indicates that convergence and integration facilitate the development of various technologies. Similarly, related academic theories and technologies have also gained attention. This paradigm shift facilitated the convergence and integration of academic disciplines. In particular, information systems have become initiators of change. However, only a limited number of studies have been conducted on information systems. To address this gap, this study explores the future direction of information systems based on the core concepts and results of the comparative analysis conducted on research trends. We considered 48,102 data obtained from international top journals from 1980 to 2015. We analyzed journal titles, authors, abstracts, and keywords. We conducted the network analysis on existing collaborative studies and performed comparative analysis to visualize the results. The results provide an in-depth understanding of information systems and provides directions for future research on this area.

  • In a knowledge-based society where knowledge and information industries are the main pillars of the economy, knowledge sharing and diffusion and its systematic management are recognized as essential strategies for improving national competitiveness and sustainable social development. In the field of Information Systems (IS) research, where the convergence of information technology and management takes place in various ways, the evolution of knowledge occurs only when researchers cooperate in turning old knowledge into new knowledge from the perspective of the scientific knowledge network. In particular, it is possible to derive new insights by identifying topics of interest in the relevant research field, applied methodologies, and research trends through network-based interdisciplinary graftings such as citations, co-authorships, and keywords. In previous studies, various attempts have been made to understand the structure of the knowledge system and the research trends of the relevant community by revealing the relationship between research topics, methodologies, and co-authors. However, most studies have compared two or more journals and been limited to a certain period; hence, there is a lack of research that looked at research trends covering the entire history of IS research. Therefore, this study was conducted in the following order for all the papers (from its first issue in 1977 to the first quarter of 2022) published in the MIS Quarterly (MISQ) Journal, which plays a leading role in revealing knowledge in the IS research field: (1) After extracting keywords, (2) classifying the extracted keywords into research topics, methodologies, and theories, and (3) using topic modeling and keyword network analysis in order to identify the changes from the beginning to the present of the IS research in a chronological manner. Through this study, it is expected that by examining the changes in IS research published in MISQ, the developing patterns of IS research can be revealed, and a new research direction can be presented to IS researchers, nurturing the sustainability of future research.

  • Science and technology contents (research papers, patents, reports) are the most common reference material for researchers involved in research and development in the fields of science and technology. Based on various search elements (title, abstract, keyword, year of publication, name of journal, name of author, publisher, etc.), many services are available for users to search science and technology contents and bibliographic information owned by libraries. Authority data on organization name can be useful as an element for author identification and as an element to search for results produced by specific organizations. However, organization name is not taken into account by current search services for domestic academic information and bibliographic records. This study analyzes organization name data contained in the metadata of science and technology contents, which are the basis of the establishment of authority data, and proposes a method and system based on string containment and exact string matching.

  • In this study, I was to investigate the trends in research on walking and positioning in Korea and to compare the results of researches on the Visually Impaired and the Non-disabled. I selected 113 papers in order to know the current status of the study for the visually impaired and to suggest future research directions. This study analyzed the general features (publication year, academic journals, number of authors, keywords, research methods, research types, implementation methods, research support, references) and research themes and contents of domestic research on walking and positioning. As a result, there was no an upward trend in number of publications by the Visually Impaired compared to the Non-disabled. In addition, in the case of the non-disabled, Research topics, types of research, implementation include various attempts of location-related technologies, and system development, improvement, stabilization, and accuracy, whereas in the case of the visually impaired, there were focused on development of systems, portable or attachable devices that reflect the characteristics of the visually impaired. There were not many studies on system improvement. Research support also showed that the non-disabled received various research support. Therefore, I suggested the need to continuously develop and improve the research, to diversify research topics and research types, to expand the research scope, to improvement feasibility for the visually impaired.
