Effects of the support and amount of NiCl2 on ammonia adsorption capacity were investigated to improve the ammonia adsorption performance. NiCl2 was impregnated onto the surface of various supports under ultrasonic irradiation. The physicochemical properties and ammonia adsorption performance of NiCl2-impregnated adsorbents were investigated. Among the various supports, it was found that the adsorption capacity of ammonia was the best when NiCl2 was impregnated on activated carbon (AC) with the highest specific surface area. As a result of changing the amount of NiCl2 impregnated on AC, the NiCl2(2.0)/AC adsorbent impregnated with 2 mmol·g-1 of NiCl2 showed the highest ammonia adsorption capacity of 5.977 mmol·g-1. In addition, the adsorption capacity was found to be maintained at an almost constant level in five repeated cycle tests under the condition that low-temperature heat could be utilized. This indicates that the adsorbent has excellent regeneration ability.

In this study, a composite phase change material (CPCM) produced using the SOL-GEL technique was developed as a thermal energy storage medium for low-temperature applications. Tetradecane and activated carbon (AC) were used as the core and supporting materials, respectively. The tetradecane phase change material (PCM) was impregnated into the porous structure of AC using the vacuum impregnation method, and a thin layer of silica gel was coated on the prepared composite using the SOL-GEL process, where tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) was used as the silica source. The thermal performance of the CPCM was analysed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). DSC results showed that the pure tetradecane PCM had melting and freezing temperatures of 6.4℃ and 1.3℃ and corresponding enthalpies 226 J/g and 223.8 J/g, respectively. The CPCM exhibited enthalpy of 32.98 J/g and 27.7 J/g during the melting and freezing processes at 7.1℃ and 2.4℃, respectively. TGA test results revealed that the AC is thermally stable up to 500℃, which is much higher than the decomposition temperature of the pure tetradecane, which is around 120℃. Moreover, in the case of AC-PCM and CPCM thermal degradation started at 80℃ and 100℃, respectively. The chemical stability of the CPCM was studied using Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and the results confirmed that the developed composite is chemically stable. Finally, the surface morphology of the AC and CPCM was analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which confirmed the presence of a thin layer of silica gel on the AC surface after the SOL-GEL process.

배추는 근본적으로 저온성 작물로 고온에 견디는 힘이 약할 뿐 아니라 가뭄이나 다습에도 취약하다. 그런데 2007년 이 후 매년 봄·초여름 가뭄이 지속되고 있으며, 예전처럼 강우에 의한 피해보다는 빈번히 나타나는 고온, 가뭄, 폭염 등 이상기상 환경조건에서 병 발생 및 생장지연으로 고랭지배추의 안정 생산이 위협받고 있다. 가뭄이 매년 지속됨에 따라 고랭지배추 재배지에서도 관수의 필요성이 인식되면서 관수를 실시하고 있으며, 대부분 스프링클러로 관수하고, 분수호스나 점적호스도 일부 이용하고 있으나 아직 토양수분, 토성이나 작물상태, 재배시기 등 환경요인을 고려한 과학적인 수분관리가 이루어지지 못하고 있어 고품질 안정생산을 위해서는 수분관리의 과학화가 필요한 실정이다. 관비재배는 적정한 비료를 필요한 위치에 공급하는 방식으로 비료의 효율을 높이면서 환경오염을 최소화하고, 비료과다 시용에 따른 환경오염 등을 회피할 수 있는 좋은 수단이다. 본 연구는 앞으로 고랭지배추 점적관수재배시 가뭄 극복과 효율적인 시비를 위한 적정 관비농도를 구명하고자 하였다. 배추품종은 수호를 이용하였으며 관비 EC농도(dS/m)는 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 등 6처리를 두었으며 기준시비량은 N-P-K=32.0-7.8-19.8kg/10a로 하였다. 시험은 고령지농업연구소내 유리온실에서 4월 상순부터 5월 하순까지 직경 20cm 사각화분에 정식하여 재배하였다. 관비는 정식후 15일부터 7일 간격으로 5회 주었으며 관비량은 1회 화분당 65ml를 주었다. 화분은 완전임의배치 3반복으로 배치하였다. 초장은 정식후 38일까지 컸으며 엽장은 정식후 52일까지도 크는 경향을 보였다. 엽폭은 정식후 45일에 가장 많이 컸다. 초장, 엽장, 엽폭 모두 관비농도가 높을수록 커지는 경향이었으며 EC농도(dS/m) 1.4에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 주당 엽수와 주중도 EC농도가 높아질수록 많아졌으며 EC농도 1.4 처리에서 가장 많았고 그 다음이 EC 1.2 처리였다. 그러므로 관비 농도는 EC 1.4 dS/m 로 주는 것이 배추 생육에 좋을 것으로 생각된다.

This experiment was carried out to study the effect of the autumnal cutting times on the regrowth, the accumulated carbohydrate and dry matter yield of Italian ryegrass The results were summarized as follows: 1. In dry matter yield, the plot of earlier cutting was shown the highest yield (p<0.05), and that of the last-cutting was shown lower yield of dry matter than that the none-cutting plot. 2. TSC (Total Water Soluble Carbohydrate) content slightly decreased after the first cutting and gradually increased according to the regrowth, and then decreased again to the second cutting time. And also the TSC content levels of stubble, stem and leaf at one week before falling to sub-zero temperature were all the highest in the eariler cutting plot (p<0.01), and there was significant correlation between the TSC content level and the second harvested dry matter yield (p<0.05). 3. CGR (Crop Growth Rate) was decreased below $8^{\circ}C$. RLGR (Relative Leaf area Growth Rate) and NAR (Net Assimilation Rate) were both high during 30 days after regrowth, and low after regrowth in all plots. LAI (Leaf Area Index) rapidly increased during 50 days after cutting, and then slowly increased in all the plots, and maximum LAI was 3.4-5.8. Also dry matter yield increased in the plots having a high LAI to 70 days after cutting. 4. It was recognized that there were significant correlation between TSC, LAI, CGR, NAR, LWR (Leaf Weight Ratio) and the second harvested dry matter yield during the low temperature periods, and the degree of contribution to dry matter yield was in order of LWR>LAI>TSC>NAR>CGR.
Many of studies on the transovarial transmission of occult virus and their activation due to various stresses such as cold or heat treatment, chemical feeding, and nutritional deficiency, etc., in the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. have been made, but any attempts have been not made to control virus diseases by detection of the occult virus-carried moths in the production of silkworm egg of hybrids, because of difficulty to detect occult virus in any stage. Therefore, it may be worth while to disclose whether a sublethal infection of the moths from which active virus are detectable, has the same level of induction rate as that of occult virus activation, thus to apply its results for the reduction of the occurence of virus diseases in silkworm rearing. For these purposes, the following experiment was conducted as one of preliminary steps. In this study, investigations on the generation-to-generation transmission of occult virus and a sublethal infection, and the role of chromosomal gene of the host, Jam 103 and Jam 104 in the Previous generation, and Jam 103 x Jam 103 and Jam 104 f Jam 104 in the next generation were made for the induction of virus diseases due to the transmitted virus. The frequency of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis due to the induction in the F$_1$ generation was markedly higher in the cross-batches, male$\times$female and male$\times$female in which inoculated individuals were used as fem ale parents than in the cross-batches, male$\times$female and male$\times$female in which virus has been not inoculated or inoculated only to male in the previous generation. The tendency of increasing rate was observed in any treatments; such as the inoculations of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (10$\^$5/, 10$\^$6/ 10$\^$7, and 10$\^$8//ml ill different concentration of inocula) , cold-treatment (5$^{\circ}C$, 12hrs or 24hrs), and formalin-feeding treatment (2% or 3%). The shape of polyhedra (tetragonal in outline) examined in the F, larvae was identified as that of the inoculated polyhedra with partial application of immunofluorescent techniques. These results suggests that the cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus in B. meri L. are transmitted to the next generation through the egg, apparently in the occult state. Local heating system providing hot air locally to growing parts including shoot apex and flower cluster which were temperature-sensitive organs of cherry tomato was developed to reduce energy consumption for greenhouse heating without decline of crop growth. Growing part following local heating system was composed of double duct distributer which connected inner and outer ducts with hot air heater and winder which moved ducts up and down following growing parts with plant growth. Growing part local heating system was compared with conventional bottom duct heating system with respect to distributions of air and leaf surface temperatures according to height, growth characteristics and energy consumption. By growing part local heating, air temperature around growing part was maintained $0.9{\sim}2.0^{\circ}C$ higher than that of lower part of crop and leaf surface temperature was also stratified according to height. Investigations on crop growth characteristics and crop yield showed no statistically significant difference except for plant height between bottom duct heating and growing part local heating. As a result, the growing part local heating system consumed 23.7% less heating energy than the bottom duct heating system without decrease of crop yield.
The degree of cosmetic's oxidation depends on the storage conditions and external conditions when using the product. The microbial contamination and oxygen exposure often results in the quality deterioration of cosmetics. In addition, the problem is that consumers often use cream-type cosmetics, which have short expiration period (6-12 months), even after the product is expired. When using the deteriorated cosmetics, it can be fatal to consumers' safety including some symptoms such as folliculitis, rashes, edema, and dermatitis. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sealed smart packaging for cosmetics to prevent the deterioration of cosmetics and improve consumer safety. In this study, we have developed smart packaging design for cosmetics that can measure the surrounding environment and expiration date for the cosmetics in the real time. In addition, the smart packaging includes sensor, which are linked to the mobile application. Users can find out the measurement results through the application. Also, the packaging design and functions were set up based on the survey results by the user and feasible model can be produced based on user choice. The measurement in the three environment has been done after manufactured the sensor, PCB, and mobile application. As a result, it works normally within a certain range under all three environmental conditions. It is believed that the information on expiration dates and storage environment can be efficiently delivered to the consumers through developed cosmetics smart packaging and applications. The development of UI/UX design for consumer is further studied. The UX/UI design of the application plays an essential role in achieving this goal through the commercialization the cosmetic products in the wide range.

For utilizing vitrification to treat low and intermediate level waste, industrial pilot plant was designed and constructed in October 1999 at Daejon, Korea through the joint research program among NETEC, MOBIS and SGN. More than 70 tests were performed on simulated IER, DAW etc. including key nuclide surrogate(Cs, Co); this plant has been shown to vitrify the target waste effectively and safely, however, some dust are generated from the HTF(High Temperature Filter) as a secondary waste. In case of long term operation, it is also concerned that pipe plugging can be occurred due to deposited dust in cooling pipe namely, connecting pipe between CCM(Cold Crucible Melter) and HTF. In this regard, we have developed the special complementary system of the off-gas treatment system to recycle the dust from HTF to CCM and to remove the interior dust of cooling pipe. Main concept of the dust recycling is to feed the dust to the CCM as a slurry state; this system is regarded as of an important position in the viewpoint of volume reduction, waste disposal cost and glass melt control in CCM. The role of DRS(Dust Recycling System) is to recycle the major glass components and key nuclides; this system is served to lower glass viscosity and increase waste solubility by recycling B, Na, Li components into glass melt and also to re-entrain and incorporate into glass melt like Cs, Co. Therefore dust recycling is helpful to control the molten glass; it is unnecessary to consider a separate dust treatment system like a cementation equipment. The effects of Dust Cleaner are to prevent the pipe plugging due to dust and to treat the deposited dust by raking the dust into CCM. During the pilot vitrification test, overall performance assessment was successfully performed; DRS and Dust Cleaner are found to be useful and effective for recycling the dust from HTF and also removing the dust in cooling pipe. The obtained operational data and operational experiences will be used as a basis of the commercial facility.
A mass production of chestnut necessiates the development of economic long-term storage method. The main objective of this study was to confirm the technical aspect of the chestnut storage method which was developed by two year project and to review the method of commercial application. The chestnut used for the experiments were separated in brine $(5.5{\sim}6.0^{\circ}\:B{\acute{a}}ume)$ into matured and unmatured lots and fumigated with $CS_2$ at a 5 $lb/27\;m^3$ level for $25{\sim}30\;hrs.$ The chestnuts were packed in wooden boxes with sawdust (50% moisture) in the ratio of 1 : 1 by volume. The boxes were stored in the cold room $(1{\pm}1^{\circ}C,\;85{\sim}95%\;RH)$ and the cellar ($0{\sim}10^{\circ}C$, controlled only by circulating night cool air). The results obtained were as follows: 1. Fully matured chestnut could be successfully preserved $8{\sim}9\;months$ at a l0% decay level in the cold room and $4{\sim}5\;months$ months in cellar. 2. Immatured chestnuts wire inferior to the matured in storage stability. At the maximum storage period, its storage life was two months shorter. 3. The heat transfer equation of piled chestnuts with sawdust can be suggested as $T_{\infty}-T_0=(T_{\infty}-T_0){\cdot}10^{-t/320}$ and j and $f_h$ values were 1 and 320 min, respectively. 4. The chestnuts in the package of storage unit had longer shelf life than naked chestnut during the retail distribution at ambient temperature.

The experiments were conducted to study the influence of growth location and cutting microelements macro-and on managements in temperate grasses in Korea and West Germany from 1975 to 1979. The field trials were designed as split plot with three grass species of Dactylis glomerata L., Lolium perenne L. and Festuca pratensis Huds under three cutting regimes at grazing stage, silage stage and hay stage. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Concentrations of macro-and microelements in temperate grasses showed a different response to growth location and growing season. P concentration in the plants was decreased under hot stress in summer, whereas Mg and Na tended to be increased. The seasonal changes in K and Zn were not significant. 2. Morphological growth stage was to be found as an important factors influenced to mineral components. P and K contents in temperate grasses tended to be decreased as morphological development especially under high temperature in Suweon and Cheju. Ca and Mg were less affected by morphological stage and cutting managements. 3. Mean value of Ca/P ratio in the plants were 1.58, 1.33 and 1.21 for meadow fescue, perennial ryegrass and orchardgrass, respectively. Ca/P ratio in grasses tended to be increased as morphological development. 4. Zn deficiency in the plants occured in all grass species and experimental sites. Mean Zn concentration of the plant were 34.2%, 31.2% and 37.8% for Suweon, Cheju and Taekwalyong, respectivelly. Na deficiency occured in orchardgrass and meadow fescue, especially in taekwalyong. Cool temperature resulted in a decrease of Na absorption and accumulation.
