On Evaluation of Material Properties in Spring Steels by Measurement of Ultrasonic Techniques (초음파법에 의한 스프링강의 재질평가에 관하여)

  • The general purpose of this paper is Evaluation of material properties in spring steels by investigate correlation between ultrasonic attenuation and virker's hardness, charpy impact properties, microstructures. The three test speciments of the $490{\times}90 mm$ plates and 20 mm thick are used but differ in heat treatment, one is rolled plate, the second is quenched and then tempered, and the third is quenched. ultrasonic attenuation were obtained at fifteen locations on the plates. In order to investigate the correlation between hardness ( especially, HV ) and the attenuation, the virker's hardness and the microstructures were observed for three spring steels. also the charpy impact test were carried out at the room temperature in order to investigate the relationship between impact properties and the attenuation. The experimental results obtained from three different spring related to the heat treatment conditions and attenuation coefficient is increased with increasing the hardness(HV). Ultrasonic attenuation coefficients have shawn are ability to distinguish among spring steels.

  • In this paper a new concept on z-pinning technology named by authors as 'z-pinning patch' will be introduced, which advantage is easy application at manufacturing site of composite structures. Using the trial manufactured z-pinning patch, the z-pinned composite single-lap shear joint specimens were successfully manufactured and tested to check the improvement of joint strengths. The z-pin's material is stainless steel and its surface was machined as zagged shape and chemically corroded to improve joint force with composite materials.

  • Recently, as a electronic components are becoming more high-density, so that electronic circuits have smaller pitches between the leads and are more vulnerable to insulation failure. And the reliability of electric insulation has become an ever important issue as device contact pitches and print patterns shrink. Ion migration occurs in highly humid environment as voltage is applied to an installed print circuit. Under highly humid and voltage applied circumstances, electronic components respond to applied voltages by electrochemical ionization of metals, and a conducting filament forms between the anode and cathode across a nonmetallic medium. This leads to short-circuit failure of the electronic component. In thesis, we study acceleration test of ion migration in FR-4 PCB plated with Sn. Voltage applied test of FR-4 PCB circuits plated with Sn was tested in the temperature and humidity environments. As a result of this test, equation of acceleration model was derived.

  • A study on the variation of combustion characteristics by injector geometries was conducted. Coaxial swirl injectors were used. Existence of swirl chamber and variation of a nozzle length become key parameters. Injectors were identified as open, closed and mixed type by existence of swirl chamber. Variation of nozzle length was made extruding the both nozzle along the axis while other design parameters remain the same. A uni-element combustor with ablative material liner and a water cooled nozzle made by oxygen free copper with outer stainless steel casing were used.

  • In this paper, a design of an offset Cassegrain antenna is proposed for Ku and Ka dual-band without increasing the antenna size. For Efficiency of computation and implementation, the frequency selectivity surface (FSS) of reflecting the Ka-band signal and passing the Ku-band is provided for the sub-reflector instead of the main reflector. The proposed FSS hyperboloid sub-reflector is the periodic structure of a unit cell comprising octagon metal rings embedded in the multiple layers. The proposed design is verified for 19 GHz and 45 GHz bands by the use of precise electromagneitc-field simulations.

  • A dynamic modeling and prediction of polyurethane foam material, which is used as the seat in vehicles is very important for improving the ride quality of vehicle occupants. In this study, parameters to define the nonlinear stiffness and time-variant characteristics of the viscoelasticity of polyurethane foam were obtained using a static compression test. Polynomial functions and convolution integral were used to model the nonlinear and viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam mathematically. The dynamic behaviors excited by the seat floor displacement were analyzed using a numerical integration method for the nonlinear vibration model. As a result, the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam was found to be an important parameter for improving the ride quality.

  • 본 연구는 500KW급 수평축 풍력발전기용으로 개발된 회전날개의 시제품 제작에 앞서 축소모델에 대한, 이론적으로 예측된 공력성능과 신축에 의한 공력성능을 비교 검토함으로서, 설계결과를 검증하고, 필요한 경우 설계를 보완하여 개발위험도를 최소화하기 위해 수행되었다. 시험모델의 크기는 실제의 5%로서 직경이 2.1m이며 날개의 시위길이는 0.2r/R에서 0.101m, 날개끝에서 0.043m 이고, 날개단면형 상온 FX-S-03-182이다. 블레이드의 재질은 Glass/Epoxy 복합재료로 제작되었으며, 실제 풍황을 모사하기 위해 자연풍 상태에서 실험하였다. 실험장치의 구성은 15m 높이의 타워에 회전날개와 전자브레이크 및 각종 센서를 장착하였고, 날개가 회전하기 시작하면 제동장치에 의해 부하를 주면서 토크, 회전수, 풍속 등을 각각의 센서로부터 자료획득장치를 통해 자료처리를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 실험하는 동안 풍속은 4m/s-13m/s 정도로서 시동 풍속인 4m/s와 정격풍속인 12m/s를 포함하여 회전날개의 전체적인 특성을 파악하기 용이하였고, 이론적인 예측성능과 측정된 성능을 비교 검토한 결과 비슷한 결과를 얻어 공력설계 및 해석 방법을 검증하였다.

Color Preference of Webfoot Octopus and Improvement of Fishing Pots (주꾸미의 색에 대한 선택성과 단지의 개량)

  • For the improvement of the traditional pots which is using purple spirals for fishing webfoot octopus, Octopus Ocellatus GRAY, some experiments are carried out on the color preference in water tank and also operated practical experiment with PVC pots at sea for the comparison on the basis of the above water tank experiment. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The colors which webfoot octopus prefer in water tank or at sea are gray, red and green in order. 2. The catching efficiency of the pots with small spout(dia. 40mm) is better than that of large spout(dia. 50mm). 3. The results of fishing efficiency between PVC pots and purple spirals are shown almost same tendency.

  • This study presents analysis of fire hazard of electrical heating pad. In order to analyze fire hazard fire experimental and flammability experiment is conducted. The fire experiment is conducted to simulate normal condition and abnormal condition such as breakdown of thermostat. Vertical burning test(UL 94) is conducted for the fire retardant experiment. Kinds of electric heating pad used for experiment are electric mat, fabric pad, vinyl pad. The results show that fire hazard is high in case of breakdown of thermostat with the rating voltage supply. And Material of electric heating pad has not fire retardant performance.
