Study on Morphological Characteristics of Maiden silvergrass(Miscanthus sinensis) Cultivars (참억새(Miscanthus sinensis) 재배종의 형태적 특성에 대한 고찰)

  • 참억새(Miscanthus sienesis)는 화본목 벼과 억새속에 속한 다년생 단자엽식물로 동아시아와 오세아니아 동쪽 해역에 자생하고 있으며, 국내에서는 관상가치가 높아 정원용이나 조경용 소재로 이용되고 있는 대표적인 산림식물이다. 억새속(Miscanthus)은 물억새(M. sachariflorus), 참억새(M. sinensis), 억새아재비(M. longiberbis), 장억새(M. changii)로 분류하고 있으며, 이는 종을 구분하는 화기구조가 작고, 변이가 다양하기 때문이다. 그 중 참억새는 이러한 변이를 이용하여 다양한 초장과 엽 무늬를 가진 재배품종이 많이 개발되었으며, 내한성 또한 강해 정원용 관상식물로서의 가치가 높이 평가되고 있다(Lewandowsik et al, 1964). 지금까지 참억새 재배품종은 엽 무늬를 중심으로 개발되어 품종간 높은 유사성을 가지고 있어 구별하는데 어려움이 있었다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 참억새 품종개발시 기존품종과의 차이를 구별할 수 있는 기준을 제시하고자 기존 참억새 재배품종들에 대해 형태적 특성을 조사 분석하여 고찰해 보았다. 조사결과 가로무늬를 가진 'Strictus'와 'Zebrinus' 품종은 형태적으로 매우 유사하였으나 전체적인 모습에서 'Zebrinus'가 'Strictus' 품종에 비해 잎의 끝부분이 늘어지는 정도가 커 처진 특성을 나타내었다. 또한, 세로무늬를 가진 'Cosmopolitan'과 'Carbaret' 품종의 경우 초장 및 엽신의 길이가 유사하였으나 엽 무늬 위치에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 엽 폭이 좁은 세엽종인 'Morning Light'와 'Little Kitten' 품종은 형태적 차이는 없지만 가장자리 엽 무늬 유무로 구분이 가능하였다. 반면에 'Adagio'와 'Little Kitten, 품종은 형태적으로 매우 유사하여 좀 더 세밀한 조사가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 앞으로 더 많은 참억새 재배품종의 형태적 특성을 조사한 자료를 이용한다면 신품종 개발시 기존 재배품종과의 차이를 비교하는데 효율적으로 이용될 것으로 기대된다.

Morphological Characteristics and Classification Criteria for Azalea Cultivars for Landscaping in Korea (조경용 철쭉재배품종의 형태적 특성 및 분류기준)

  • This study was conducted to examine the morphological characteristics of those Azalea Cultivars(hereinafter, Azalea Cultivars) that are mainly used for landscaping in Korea in order to prepare classification criteria. As testing materials, major Azalea Cultivars cultivated in large quantities by its producing companies were collected. Thereafter, the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the traits of Azalea Cultivars were investigated in the way of characteristic investigation for new cultivars of azalea used by the Korea Seed and Variety Service in order to classify them and prepare the classification criteria. Since cultivar names have not been established for Azalea Cultivars for landscaping thus far, the data were compiled using the names used by cultivating companies. According to the results, Azalea Cultivars cultivated in Suncheon, Jeonnam mainly for landscaping were 10 in number; Beni, Daewang, Three, Zasanhong, Hancheol, Sancheoljuk, Gyeobsancheoljuk, Baekcheoljuk, Akado, and Seok-am. Among them, the cultivars Beni, Daewang, and Three could not be easily distinguished from each other because they are commonly called Yeongsanhong by cultivating companies and the shapes of their leaves and flowers are similar to each other. In particular, the flower color of Beni was 'bright red', that of Daewang was 'vivid purple', and that of Three was 'bright purple'. In addition, Zasanhong and Hancheol were similar to each other in shape the degree of expression of spots on the flowers and the gloss on the front side of the leaves of Hancheol were higher and stronger compared to that of Zasanhong. Sancheoljuk flowered in early April, earlier compared to other Azalea Cultivars. Gyeobsancheoljuk is an elementary species of Sancheoljuk and it had double flowers although all other traits were similar to those of Sancheoljuk. Although Baekcheoljuk was easily distinguished because it had white flowers, its leaves were similar to those of Akado the reason why these two cultivars could not be easily distinguished from each other. The cultivar Akado flowered early May later compared to other Azalea Cultivars and its flowers were relatively large in diameter as with Baekcheoljuk and Sancheoljuk. Finally, the cultivar Seok-am was easily distinguished because it had smaller leaves compared to other cultivars and it flowered late as with the cultivar Akado.

  • The relationship between grain yield. protein content and sedimentation value in wheat were studied using 9 varieties cultivated at 8 locations in Korea. The grain yields of wheat varied widely, according to varieties and locations. Negative correlations between grain yield and protein content, and grain yield and sedimentation value were observed, while a positive correlation between protein content and sedimentation value was observed. Specific sedimentation values of soft wheats were below 4, while those of hard wheats were above 5. The intermediate varieties had sedimentation values of 4-5. This showed that specific sedimentation values could be used as a criterion in the classification of wheat quality.

  • 감자(Solanum tuberosum L.)는 식물학적 분류상으로 가지과에 속하는 작물로, 재배기간이 짧고 단위면적당 생산량이 많아 세계적으로 벼, 밀, 옥수수에 이어 네 번째로 재배되고 있다. 감자의 원산지는 남아메리카 안데스 산맥의 고원지대로 유럽을 거쳐 여러 나라들로 퍼져나갔으며, 1824년경 우리나라로 감자가 들어왔다는 기록이 남아있다. 국내 감자 재배작형 비율을 살펴보면, 봄재배가 63%, 여름재배 16%, 가을감자 14%, 그리고 겨울시설재배가 7% 정도를 차지하고 있으며 소비자들에게 연중 햇감자를 공급하고 있다. 1960년대부터 국내에서 감자 교배육종을 시작하면서 육종기반을 구축하였으며 현재까지 40여 품종을 육성하였다. 과거에는 부족한 주식을 대체하기 위한 구황작물로 감자를 주로 소비하였기 때문에, 식용감자 품종 위주로 선발하기 위하여 조숙성과 수량성에 중점을 두어 '조풍', '추백' 등의 품종을 육성하여 보급하였다. 최근 국민 소득의 향상과 식습관 변화 등으로 식품 소비구조가 다양화되면서 감자를 식용뿐만 아니라 감자칩, 프렌치프라이 등 가공제품이나 더 나아가 화장품 원료로 이용되면서 육종 방향과 목표를 다양하게 설정하여 품종을 육성하고 있다. 그 결과로, 전분함량이 높고 칩가공성이 우수한 '다미', '골든볼', '은선' 등 칩가공용 품종, 감자모양이 길고 건물함량이 높아 가공적성이 우수하고 프렌치 프라이로 적합한 '골든에그'와 '얼리프라이', 기형, 열개 등 생리장해 발생이 적고 일반 부식용인 '수선', '추원' 등 다양한 용도를 가진 품종을 육성하여 보급하고 있다. 이와 같이 현재까지 육성된 감자 용도별 주요 품종들의 현황과 육종 방향에 대해서 소개하고자한다.

Discrimination of Domestic Rice Cultivars by Capillary Electrophoresis (Capillary Electrophoresis를 이용한 국내산 쌀의 품종 판별)

  • Capillary electrophoresis (CE) with rice proteins was used to discriminate 10 domestic rice cultivars in less than 25 min. Most cultivars were differentiated quickly and easily using P-ACN buffer system. CE of rice prolamins allowed classifying ten varieties of Korean rice into three groups. Peak h was characteristic peak for Dongjinbyeo, Gaehwabyeo and Yongnambyeo which were classified into the group of Dongjinbyeo. Chuchungbyeo, Odaebyeo, Mangeumbyeo and Bonggwangbyeo easily differentiated from the group of Dongjinbyeo by the absence of peak h which were classified into the group of Chuchungbyeo. Peak g typical for Illpumbyeo, Hwaseungbyeo and Hwayoungbyeo accounted for 70% of total peak area. They belong to the group of Illpumbyeo. Some cultivars showed specific peak patterns among ten cultivars, Illpumbyeo was differentiated from others by several peaks between peak c and peak f, and the peak d was apparently detected in Odaebyeo not in others. Other minor differences were also found within each group. The result of the study showed that CE has potential for discrimination of rice cultivars. It also possesses the inherent advantages such as low mass requirements, fast seperations, and quantitative analysis through on-capillary UV detection.

  • 본 연구는 대구광역시 남구 대명동 앞산공원 일대 관속식물을 연구하기 위해 수행되었다. 2018년 4월 13일부터 2019년 9월 17일까지 총 38회에 걸쳐 조사를 수행하였고, 확인한 관속식물은 109과 338속 523종 65변종 10품종 5아종 5교잡종 3재배품종을 포함하여 총 611분류군을 확인하였다. 이 중 산림청 국립수목원 지정 희귀식물은 28분류군(멸종위기종(CR) 왕벚나무(식재), 위기종(EN) 깽깽이풀 등 4분류군, 취약종(VU) 멱쇠채 등 8분류군, 약관심종(LC) 측백나무 등 11분류군 및 자료부족종(DD) 김의털아재비 등 4분류군), 국립수목원 지정 특산식물은 좀비비추, 노랑갈퀴, 산앵도나무 등 12분류군, 식물구계학적 특정식물은 67분류군(V등급 깽깽이풀과 왕벚나무 2분류군, IV등근 비술나무 등 4분류군, III등급 음양고비 등 16분류군, II등급 큰참나물 등 3분류군, I등급 거미고사리 등 42분류군), 귀화식물은 오리새 등 42분류군을 확인하였다. 도시화지수 및 귀화율은 각각 13.08%, 6.89%로 나타났으며 이는 우리나라 평균 귀화율보다 다소 낮은 수치이다. 선행연구와의 목록 비교 결과 210분류군을 추가적으로 확인하였다. 이는 약 30년간 연구대상지의 선행연구가 이루어지지 않았다는 점과 그간 식물의 오동정, 다양한 식물의 유입 및 사람들의 왕래가 잦아짐에 따른 귀화식물의 유입 등 다양한 요인으로 판단된다. 아울러 1,000만명 이상이 이용하는 앞산공원 일대 주요 희귀식물의 서식처를 보호할 수 있는 방안이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Studies on the ecological variations of rice plant under the different seasonal cultures -II. A study on the year variations and prediction of heading dates of paddy rice under the different seasonal cultures- (재배시기 이동에 의한 수도의 생태변이에 관한 연구 -II. 재배시기 이동에 의한 수도출수기의 년차간변이와 그 조기예측-)

  • This study was aimed at knowing the magnitude of year variation in rice heading dates under the different seasonal cultures, and to estimate the heading date in advance. Using six rice varieties such as Kwansan, Suwon#82, Suwon #144, Norin#17, Yukoo#132 and Paltal, the early, ordinary and late seasonal cultures had been carried out at Paddy Crop Division, Crop Experiment Station at Suwon for the six-year period 1959 to 1964. In addition the data of the standard rice cultures at the Provincial Offices of Rural Development for the 12-year period 1953 to 1954, were analyzed for the purpose of clarifying a relationship between variation of rice heading dates and some of meteorological data related to the locations and years. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Year variation of rice heading dates was as high as 14 to 21 days in the early seasonal culture and 7 to 14 days in the ordinary seasonal culture, while as low as one to seven days in the late seasonal culture which was the lowest among three cultures. The magnitude of variation depended greatly on variety, cultural season and location. 2. It was found out that there was a close negative correlation between the accumulated average air temperature for 40 days from 31 days after seeding and number of days to heading in the early seasonal culture. Accordingly, it was considered possible to predict the rice heading date through calculation of the accumulated average air temperature for the above period and then the linear regression(Y=a+bx). On the other hand, an estimation of the heading date in the late seasonal culture requires for the further studies. In the ordinary seasonal culture, no significant correlation between the accumulated average air temperature and number of days to heading was obtained in the six-year experiments conducted at Suwon. There was a varietal difference in relationship between the accumulated average air temperature for 70 days from seeding and number of days to heading in the standard cultures at the provincial offices of rural development. Some of varieties showed a significant correlation between two factors while the others didn't show any significant correlation. However, there was no regional difference in this relationship.

  • In order to obtain basic date for the cultivation and the breeding of double zero varieties of rapeseed, spring nature grade were investigated. Spring nature grade could be classified to 8 classes by the method of material maturity. The double zero varieties, Ⅶ group of spring adaptability has been developed from the cross "Oro" and "Midas" classified as summer type. A significant negative correlation was found between the spring adaptability and seed yield. On the other hand, a highly significant negative correlation was found between maturation and spring adaptability, cold resistnce and spring adaptability, plant from and spring adaptability. Ⅵ and Ⅶ group close to summer type showed spring growing adaptability, and 0, I and II group were appeared as winter type, autumn growing adaptability with cold tolerance.with cold tolerance.

Identification of Korean Mountain Cultivated Ginseng by RAPD (RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA)를 이용한 장뇌삼의 지역별 품종 구분)

  • This study was conducted to examine the genetic variations and intraspecific relationships between 9 individuals of Panax ginseng C.A Meyer by using RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA) analysis. The 34 primers out of 40 random primers were amplified for all tested plants. The 48 (40%) among 244 bands derived from 34 primers shown polymorphism, and the 72 (64%) rest of bands showed similar forms. By regional groups Sangju and Andong samples located in Kyungsang buk-do showed a high similarity. However, Punggi located in Kyungsang buk-do showed higher similarity with Jinan's of Junla buk-do. In this way, it did not show that Panax ginseng from the same area has similarities. In future study we need to more specific molecular phylogenetic analysis such as AFLP technology and gene sequencing with nuclear chloroplast DNA in all samples.
