Feeding Habits of Released Black Rockfish, Sebastes inermis, in Coastal Waters off Jam Island, Jinhae Bay, Korea (진해만 잠도 주변해역에서 서식하는 방류산 볼락 (Sebastes inermis)의 식성)

  • Feeding habits of released Sebastes inermis obtained in daily and monthly collections from August 2007 to December 2007 in coastal waters off Jam Island in Jinhae Bay, Korea were assessed. A total 151 individuals of S. inermis (6.3-9.7 cm TL) were recaptured during the study period. Initial food intake of released S. inermis occurred within three days of released. Stomach content index increased with time, however, the percentage of stomachs devoid of contents decreased. Sebastes inermis mainly consumed gammarid and caprellid amphipods, gastropods and mysids. Diet also included small quantities of bivalves, shrimps, copepods and ostracods. Amphipods were mainly consumed at all size groups and consumption of gastropods, bivalves and shrimps increased with increasing fish size.

  • This paper presents a neural net based nonlinear adaptive controller for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). AUV's dynamics are highly nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients vary with different operational conditions, so it is necessary for the high performance control system of an AUV to have the capacities of learning and adapting to the change of the AUV's dynamics. In this paper a linearly parameterized neural network is used to approximate the uncertainties of the AUV's dynamics, and a sliding mode control is introduced to attenuate the effects of the neural network's reconstruction errors and the disturbances of AUV's dynamics. The presented controller is consist of three parallel schemes; linear feedback control, sliding mode control and neural network. Lyapunov theory is used to guarantee the asymptotic convergence of trajectory tracking errors and the neural network's weights errors. Numerical simulations for motion control of an AUV are performed to illustrate to effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

  • The motion of living organisms such as birds, fishes, and insects, has been analyzed for the purpose of the design of MAV(Micro Air Vehicle) and NAV(Nano Air Vehicle). In this research, natural motion was considered to be applied to the determination of the geometry and motion of AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). The flapping motion of a number of hydrofoil shapes in AUV was studied, and at the same time, the optimization of the hydrofoil shape and flapping motion was executed that allow the highest thrust and efficiency. The harmonic motion of plunging and pitching of NACA 4 digit series models, was used for the numerical analysis. The meta model was made by using the kriging method in Optimization method and the experimental points of 49 were extracted for the OA(Orthogonal array) in DOE(Design of experiments). Parametric study using this experimental points was conducted and the results were applied to MGA(Micro Genetic Algorithm). The flow simulation model was validated to be an appropriate tool by comparing with experimental data and the optimized shape and motion of AUV was turned out to produce highest thrust and efficiency.

Wave Screening Performance Using Floating and Submerged Breakwaters (부유식방파제와 잠제를 이용한 파랑 차단 성능 연구)

  • In this study, the hybrid breakwater system - a breakwater system combining the floating breakwater with the submerged breakwater - is used to improve the wave screening performance that may not be achieved by using the floating breakwater or the submerged breakwater, separately. Two-dimensional finite element method is used for numerical analysis and the wave reflection ratio and the wave transmission ratio are analyzed for the proposed case. In case of using the hybrid breakwater system, wave screening performance is more effective than in case of using the floating breakwater or the submerged breakwater, separately. It also shows an effective wave screening on the long wave period and an advanced wave screening performance with low height of the submerged breakwater.

Development of Liquid Culture Media for the Mass Production of Beauveria bassiana Blastospore (흰굳음병균(Beauveria basiana) 단균사의 대량배양생산을 위한 액체배지 개발)

  • To develope a liquid culture media for the mass culture of Beauveria bassiana blastospore, wheat bran and soybean cake were selected as a carbon and nitrogen source, respectively. The composition and final concentration of wheat bran and soybean cake in liquid culture media were determined by the growth of B. bassiana blastospore. The results showed that the growth of B. bassiana blastospore was effective in the rate of 3 wheat bran: 2 soybean cake and in 5% of final concentration of the liquid culture media, suggesting that the liquid culture media using wheat bran and soybean cake are available.

Sexual Differences of Cocoon weight, Cocoon Shell Weight, and Cocoon Shell Percentage in the Sex- limited Silkworm Strains, Bombyx mori L., (한성계통의 전견중, 견층중, 견층비율에 대한 성차)

  • Using sexual differences between female and male as the indication of the degree of the physiological distrubance in the sex-limited larval marking strains or sex-limited egg colour strains, it was investigated whether the physiological distrubance caused y the translocated autosome fragment on the W-sex determination chromosome, have an effect on expression of the three quantitative characters; cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, and cocoon shell percentage in the female silkworm. The mean values of the ratios of female to male the above two experimental groups were 127%, 107%, 85%, in cocoon shell weight, and cocoon shell percentage, respectively. On the other hand, those from the three normal stains, namely the basic stock strains, white egg strains, and hybrids were 129% for cocoon weight, 110% for cocoon shell weight, and 85% for cocoon shell percentage, respectively. From the results, it comes to the conclusion that the translocated autosome fragment on the W-chromosome has no influences on the expression of the quantitative characters of the female silkworm because sexual differences of the sex-limited strains were very similar to those of the three normal strains.

  • Power flow finite element method(PFFEM) combining power flow analysis(PFA) with finite element method is efficient for vibration analysis of a built-up structure, and power flow boundary element method(PFBEM) combining PFA with boundary element method is useful for predicting the noise level of a vibrating complex structure. In this paper, the coupled PFFE/PFBE method is used to investigate the vibration and radiated noise of the unmanned underwater vehicle(UUV) in water. PFFEM is employed to analyze the vibrational responses of the UUV, and PFBEM is applied to analyze the underwater radiation noise. The vibrational energy of the structure is treated as an acoustic intensity boundary condition of PFBEM to calculate underwater radiation noise. Numerical simulations are presented for the UUV in water, and reliable results have been obtained.

  • Underwater robotic vehicles(URVs) have been an important tool for various underwater tasks such as pipe-lining, data collection, hydrography mapping, construction, maintenance and repairing of undersea equipment, etc because they have greater speed, endurance, depth capability, and safety than human divers. As the use of such vehicles increases, the vehicle control system is one of the most critical subsystems to increase autonomy of the vehicle. The vehicle dynamics are nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients are often difficult to estimate accurately. It is desirable to have an intelligent vehicle control system because the fixed-parameter linear controller such as PID may not be able to handle these changes promptly and result in poor performance. In this paper we described and analyzed a new type of fuzzy model-based controller which is designed for underwater robotic vehicles and based on Takagi-Sugeno-Kang(TSK) fuzzy model. The proposed fuzzy controller: 1) is a nonlinear controller, but a linear state feedback controller in the consequent of each local fuzzy control rule; 2) can guarantee the stability of the closed-loop fuzzy system; 3) is relatively easy to implement. Its good performance as well as its robustness to parameter changes will be shown and compared with those of the PID controller by simulation.

  • 우리 사회가 발전함에 따라 재해의 위험으로부터도 안전하게 살고자 하는 대중들의 욕구 또한 증가하고 있다. 하지만 최근의 기후변화와 이상홍수의 사례에서 볼 때 현재 우리가 처해 있는 자연재해로부터의 위협은 과거와는 상이하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 위협에 대처하기 위해서는 우리에게 노출된 재해의 특성을 평가하는 과정이 무엇보다 선행되어져야 한다. 홍수로 인한 피해는 대부분이 인명이나 재산피해가 주를 이루기 때문에 홍수위험도의 평가결과도 발생 가능한 인명이나 재산피해로 표현되는 것이 적절하다고 판단된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지역회귀분석을 적용하여 가능 홍수 피해금액을 추산하고, 이를 통해 각 지역별 홍수위험도를 평가하는 방법을 제안하였다. 지역회귀분석은 강우유출모형이나 확률분포모형의 매개변수들을 유역 특성인자들로 표현하기 위해 수문학 분야에서 사용되어져 왔으며 본 연구에서는 이 방법을 홍수 피해금액 추정에 응용하였다. 지역회귀방법의 절차는 먼저 계측지역에서는 홍수 피해금액과 시강우량 자료를 바탕으로 비선형회귀분석을 실시한 후 이 회귀식의 계수를 다시 해당 지역의 인문 사회 경제학적 인자들로 표현하였다. 이러한 방법을 통해 지역적 인자들이 홍수 피해에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 분석할 수 있었으며 궁극적으로 미계측지역에서도 지역적 인자들을 통해 특정 빈도에 발생 가능한 홍수 피해금액을 추정할 수 있었다. 최종적으로 추정된 홍수 피해금액과 지역 총 자산의 비를 통해 홍수위험지도를 작성하였다. 본 연구결과를 수자원장기종합계획에서 홍수위험도 평가를 위해 사용된 홍수피해잠재능(Potential Flood Damage; PFD)과 비교해 보면 PFD에서는 각 인자들의 가중치 산정에서 전문가의 주관이 개입될 수 있다는 단점이 있었으나 과거 피해금액과의 상관관계를 분석한 본 연구에서는 이러한 단점을 극복할 수 있었다.

Maintenance of Paddy Irrigation Facilities and On-Farm Water Management in Korea (한국의 논관개시설 유지관리 및 물관리)

  • 지난 40년간 한국에서는 농업생산 특히 쌀 생산의 가속화를 위한 노력으로서 관계사업에 큰 비중을 두어 왔다. 따라서 관계건설과 농지개량에대한 투자는 괄목할 만큼 신장되어 1960년 대 이래 총투자액은 미화 61억달러에 달하고 있다. 그 결과 관계에 대한 잠자력과 관계면적은 크게 확장되어 지난 40여년간 순관계면적은 1945년의 188.200ha로부터 1988년의 195.750ha로 증가 되었으며 이 숫자는 한구구 총 수면적의 73%에 이르는 면적이다. 한국에는 농업수자원의 개발과 관리를 계획, 실시하는 임무가 부여된 국가기관이 있다. 그러나 이에 관련되는 국가수준의 기관이 하나이상이므로 관련되는 기관간의 통합이 문제로 제기되고 있다. 이러한 문제는 얼마간 인식디되고 있지만 아직도 심각하게 남아 있다. 농지개량조합 농촌근대화촉진법에 의하여 조직되고 운영되고 있다. 각 조합에서는 관계관리에 대한 정책, 관계수 분배계획 수자원관리 등을 담당하는 농민관계단체인 흥농계가 조직되고 있다. 농가수준에서의 관계개발 및 관리에 관련되는 문제점 및 주요쟁점은 다음과 같음을 확인할 수 있었다. 1. 관계조직 및 물 사용의 저효율 2. 몽리 구역내의 부과 합리화 및 징수방법 3. 수제의 부과 합리화 및 징수방법 4. 현재의 낡은 관계조직 5. 관계시설을 효율적으로 운영, 유지관리 하기위한 훈련된 인력 6. 관련 기관간의 통합 한국의 현 경제성장 단계에 비추어 볼 때 물의 수요와 수자원의 고갈이 증대되고 있으며 새로운 수자원 개발은 점점 어려워지고 또 고가이다. 따라서 더 이상의 발전을 위해서는 토지와 수자원의 효율적이고 경제적인 이용은 물론 현재 관계조직의 개선과 집중적인 관리가 강조 되어야할 것으로 생각된다.
