  • This paper proposes a new method which can calculates nodal price as an economic signal at non-optimal operation. By using pseudo constraints in 11 cases, we calculate shadow price and nodal price based on non-optimal operation. By comparing shadow price and nodal prices based on optimal and non-optimal operation effectiveness of the method is verified.

Comparison of Environmental Efficiencies and Shadow Prices of Pollutants in Korean Cities (한국 도시의 환경효율성과 오염물 잠재가격 비교)

  • The purpose of this paper is to grasp levels of cost burden in pollution treatment by measuring efficiencies and shadow prices by pollutants in Korean cities. The efficiencies and shadow prices of pollutants will be compared for cities divided by Seoul metropolitan area and non-Seoul metropolitan area. Annual shadow prices of NOx, SOx, and PM10 emissions in the cities of Seoul metropolitan area are 0.846, 0.318, 0.816, respectively for 1999-2005. The annual shadow prices in the cities of Non-Seoul metropolitan area are 0.848, 0.272, and 0.789, respectively over the same periods. The shadow prices of SOx showed similar levels between two areas but those of NOx and PM10 of cities in Seoul metropolitan area were higher. NOx emission quantities of both areas have similar increasing patterns because the NOx has mainly increased with augmentation of transportation regardless of Seoul metropolitan and non-Seoul metropolitan areas. It seems that the reason the shadow prices of two pollutants for the cities of Seoul metropolitan area are higher, is because environmental regulation is stronger in the cities of Seoul metropolitan area, the cities of Seoul metropolitan relatively show higher quantities of pollution reduction under given desirable outputs, and generally have industrial sectors with small pollution emission. In the future we need to reduce pollutants in the various respects such as adjustment of overall industry structure, energy consumption pattern, and reviews of arrangement of living space for the cities located on the downward-sloping segment of production frontier.

The Effects of Locational Point Representation of Apartment Complexes on Hedonic Valuation of Air Quality (공동주택 위치표현 방법이 대기질의 한계잠재가격 측정에 미치는 영향)

  • The marginal implicit price of air quality can be measured by taking a partial derivative of hedonic price function (HPF) with respect to the level of air quality. It has been pointed out that the size of the marginal implicit price varies with the use of different function forms, different estimation methods, and the different ways of measuring air quality level in estimating HPF. In addition to these factors, this study shows theoretically and empirically the way housing properties are represented on a digital map could differentiate the size of marginal implicit price of air quality when GIS is used to measure location attributes of the housing properties in the Korean apartment market. Furthermore, this study shows that the degree of difference in the marginal implicit price due to the manner in which housing properties are represented on a digital map can be larger than the degree of difference in the marginal implicit price due to using different function forms and estimation methods. The major implication from the results of this study is that one should carefully try diverse ways of representing housing properties in the Korean apartment market on a digital map in the process of estimating HPF, as he or she usually tries diverse function forms and estimation methods, to see if the value of the marginal implicit price of air quality varies substantially.

A Study on Harmonics Reduction Method Considering Hormonic Voltage Limits on Each Bus using Shadow Price (잠재가격에 의한 모선별 고조파전압제약을 고려한 고조파 저감기법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a new harmonics reduction methodology using shadow price. First, we employed shadow price of each bus to reduce harmonics effectively. Second, we developed a new algorithm which can reduce harmonics under limits at PCC and each bus. As a result economical design of filters and its location of the distribution system is possible. This method is applied to the real system, and the usefulness of the method is verified.

A Hedonic Valuation of Urban Green Space in Seoul, Korea (공원일몰제 시행과 도시녹지 서비스에 대한 서울시민들의 선호측정: 아파트 실거래 기반 헤도닉가격접근법을 적용하여)

  • This study is to apply Hedonic Price Method in analyzing residents' preferences for three types of urban green space (UGS, rivers, urban parks, and forests) near the apartment complexes in Seoul. Based on hedonic price function estimation results, residents in Seoul preferred for the urban amenity that was provided by the view and accessibility (in terms of both within 10 minutes and distance) of rivers and urban parks near the apartment complexes, but not forests. The annual benefits calculated using the shadow prices are about 550~600 thousand won for the urban park views and about 800 thousand won for the accessibility, which is 2-3 times higher than river views and accessibility. On the other hand, forest views and accessibility did not have significant effects on apartment prices, except the view of Bukhan mountain for the residents of Gangbuk area. Based on the empirical results, Seoul residents' preferences for urban parks would have important implications for the urban park sunset program that will be initiated from July 2020.

An Empirical Study on the Effect of Respondent Bias in PSM : Case in Apartment Pricing (PSM 가격평가 주체에 따른 아파트 가격결정 효용성 실증연구)

  • PSM is widely used pricing tool in field by the reason of data collection convenience and analytical intuitiveness. However, In high involvement environment, strategic respondent bias influence in reducing the price. By using 3 empirical cases of LH apartment for sale, We found that latent consumers' recognition of the range of acceptable and the range of optimal price are lower than real estate agent representative respondents'. This phenomenon is considered loss aversion effect of prospect theory to reduce loss by reducing price, and more influenced in high involvement situation than latent consumer respondents'. Also we found PSM result using real estate representative data is more useful in real market than latent consumers data distorted by loss aversion effects. The meaning of this study is finding some limitation in PSM using consumer data generally used. In further study, development of PSM measurement tool to minimize the effect of strategic bias are need to be studied. Also some new approaches in reinterpretation of the range of acceptable price and the range of optimal price are need to be followed.

Cost Structure of Korean Manufacturing Industries connected with the Central Government's Environmental Investment (중앙정부의 환경투자 관련 제조업의 비용분석)

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the cost structure of the Korean manufacturing industry in relation to the central government's environmental investment(CGEI below) by applying translog variable cost function. Important findings are as follows. First, sufficiency degree of CGEI of 0.7230, less than optimal level of 1, causes production inefficiency. Therefore, central government should forward a strategy to raise CGEI to meet appropriate standards. In addition, inspite of the deficiency of CGEI, shadow priceis lower than market price due to q-value of 0.9572, yielding unfavorable conditions for CGEI. However, CGEI brings about increase in output, variable cost saving, and economies of scale of firms. Second, by comparing this study with an existing study(2010), we have discovered the following facts. In both studies, we find that there are deficiency of investment, unfavorable conditions in investment, economies of scale, and output increase due to investment. However, the current study has found that, CGEI, which shows efficiency by positive(+) shadow price, saves variable cost. Therefore, firms suffer from production inefficiency due to variable cost caused by a shortage of efficient CGEI. Moreover, the previous study conducted in 2010 found that investment in prevention of environmental pollution(IPEP below), which indicates inefficiency by negative(-) shadow price, cannot reduce variable cost. In such circumstances, firms yield abnormal production efficiency based on variable cost savings caused by inefficient IPEP. For this reason, firms should raise IPEP to optimal level to reduce IPEP inefficiency to achieve production efficiency by reducing variable cost.

  • 본 연구는 기존의 특성가격기법(特性價格技法)(hedonic price technique)에 공간(空間)개념을 도입한 계량경제모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이 공간시차모형은 기존의 모형과 달리 특성변수의 변화에 따른 직(直) 간접효과(間接效果)를 동시에 포착할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 또한 공간시차모형의 회귀진단 및 가설검정 결과는 공간시차모형이 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 이 경우 공간시차를 고려하지 않은 OLS 회귀분석 결과의 계수들은 편기추정(biased)된 동시에 효율적(efficiency)이지 못하다는 것이다. 회귀분석 결과는 주택에 자본화된 대기오염에 대한 잠재가격(潛在價格)(marginal implicit price)은 주택평균가격의 약 1.5% 정도인 것으로 추정된다.

  • 물은 인간생활에 없어서는 안될 필수재화이며 경제활동의 모든 생산활동에도 필요 불가결한 재화이다. 최근 기후변화로 인해 우리나라의 기후변화 패턴은 극한 홍수와 극한 가뭄을 경험하고 있다. 우리나라의 기상 패턴을 살펴보면 6-7년 주기로 극심한 가뭄이 발생하고 있다. 2009년 태백지역에서는 식수가 중단되는 극심한 가뭄을 경험한 바 있다. 기후변화로 인한 영향중 가뭄의 특성은 언제부터 가뭄이 발생한 것인지에 대한 판단이 어렵고 또한 갑작스러운 강우발생으로 가뭄이 해갈됨으로써 가뭄피해의 심각성을 인지하지 못하는 것이다. 따라서 가뭄에 대한 대응정책은 상대적으로 뒤로 미루어져왔다. 본 연구는 가뭄이 발생할 경우, 그 정도에 따라 물의 잠재가격 추정을 통해 가뭄이 미치는 사회경제적 피해와 파급효과를 분석하기 위한 모형과 결과를 제시하였다.

  • 교통자산과 같은 내구재는 일정 기간 동안의 수명을 가지게 된다. 이 기간 동안에 내구재는 어떠한 형태로 소비되어 지고 이에 따라 내구재는 효율성을 잃어 간다. 내구재를 효율적으로 사용하기 위해서는 적절한 관리를 필요로 한다. 본 연구는 내구재를 효율적으로 사용하기 위해 필요한 관리비용의 동적형태를 이론적으로 고찰한 다음, 미국에서의 업무용 비행기의 관리비용자료를 사용하여 경험적인 결과를 제시한다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 관리비용은 시간이 감에 따라 줄어든다. 그러나 관리비용의 잠재가격(Shadow Price)에 대한 비율은 여러 가지 외적변수들에 결정된다. (2) 미국에서의 업무용 비행기의 시장가격에 대한 관리비용의 비율은 시간이 감에 따라 늘어난다.
