Fracture Mechanics Analysis of a Interface Crack in the Weld of Dissimilar Steels using the J-integral (J-적분을 이용한 이종강재 용접접합부 계면균열의 파괴역학적 해석)

  • For the fracture mechanics analysis of cracks in welds of dissimilar steels, residual stress analysis and fracture analysis must be performed simultaneously. The standard definition of the J -integral leads to a path dependent value in the presence of a residual stress field. And unlike cracks in homogeneous materials, a bimaterial interface crack always induces both opening and shearing modes of stress in the vicinity of the crack tip. Therefore, it is necessary to develope a path independent J-integral definition for a crack in a residual stress field generated by welding of dissimilar steels. This paper addresses the modification of the Rice-J-integral to produce a path independent J -integral when residual stresses due to welding of dissimilar steels and external forces are present. The residual stress problem is treated as an initial strain problem and the J-integral proposed for this class of problems is used. And a program which can evaluate the J -integral for a crack in a weld of dissimialr steels is developed using proposed J integral definition.

Residual Stress Analysis of New Rails Using Contour Method (굴곡측정법을 이용한 신 레일의 잔류응력 분석)

  • It is well recognized that residual stresses of the rails, generated from the manufacturing process including roller straightening and heat treatment, play an important role in determining fatigue and fracture properties of the rails. Thus, it has been a challenge to measure the residual stresses accurately. In this work, contour method was employed to evaluate the residual stresses existing in interior of the rails. The cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the rail was cut at a very slow rate using electric discharge machining (EDM), after which a laser-based flexural measuring instrument enabled us to precisely measure the flection of the cross section. The measured data were converted into the residual stresses using the commercial finite element package, ABAQUS, through a user-defined element (UEL) subroutine, and the residual stresses of the new rails (50N, KR60, UIC60) with three different specifications were compared.

Relief of Residual Stress and Estimation of Heat-Treatment Characteristics for Al6061 Alloy by Cryogenic Heat Treatment (극저온 열처리에 의한 Al6061 합금의 잔류응력 제거 및 열처리 특성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to relieve the residual stress of Al6061 using cryogenic heat treatment. Experimental T6 and cryogenic heat treatments were carried out to define the convective heat-transfer coefficient, which was then applied in the finite-element method (FEM) to predict the residual stress. The predicted residual stress was compared with the residual stress measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results were in good agreement. The mechanical properties were estimated by measuring the electrical conductivity and hardness. In addition, the size and formation of the precipitations were observed by TEM and XRD analysis for both T6 and cryogenic heat treatments. The effects of the cryogenic heat treatment on the residual stress, mechanical properties, and precipitation of Al6061 alloys were thus confirmed.

  • The recycling technology of carbon residue produced from the process of oil recovery in waste tire pyrolysis is significant in environmental and economical aspects. This study was done to figure out the recycling possibility of carbon residue to activated carbon. For this, the characteristics of the carbon residue obtained from the commercial pyrolysis process of waste tire were studied. Also, the variation of pore structure of carbon residue was studied after 1 hour of carbonization at $600^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ and 3 hours of activation at $950^{\circ}C$. The specific surface area of the carbon residue was $8.0m^2/g$ and it increased to $548.3m^2/g$ after carbonization and activation.

Translocation of Tolclofos-methyl from Ginseng Cultivated Soil to Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) and Residue Analysis of Various Pesticides in Ginseng and Soil (토양 중 잔류된 Tolclofos-methyl의 인삼(Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer)에 대한 이행 및 잔류 특성)

  • Recently, some of the previous studies reported that tolclofos-methyl is still exist in ginseng cultivated soil, even though it is has been banned for ginseng. Therefore, the current study was aimed to examine the levels of absorption and translocation of tolclofos-methyl from ginseng cultivated soil to ginseng root and leaf stem for the period of 1 year. For this study, ginseng plants were transplanted in pots and treated with $5.0mg\;kg^{-1}$ of tolclofos-methyl (50% WP). At the end of each interval periods (every three months) the samples (soil, roots and leaf stems) were collected and analyzed the absorption and translocation levels of tolclofos-methyl using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The limit of quantitation of tolclofos-methyl was found to be $0.02mg\;kg^{-1}$ and 70.0~120.0% recovery was obtained with coefficient of variation of less than 10% regardless of sample types. In this study, a considerable amount of translocation of tolclofos-methyl residues were found in soil (4.28 to $0.06mg\;kg^{-1}$), root (7.09 to $1.54mg\;kg^{-1}$) and leaf stem (0.79 to $0.69mg\;kg^{-1}$). The results show that the tolclofos-methyl was absorbted and translocated from ginseng cultivated soil to ginseng root and ginseng leaf stem and found to be decreased time-coursely. Secondly, we were also analyzed soil, root and leaf stems samples from Hongcheon, Cheorwon, Punggi and Geumsan by GC-MS/MS (172 pesticides), LC-MS/MS (74 pesticides). In this study, 43 different pesticides were detected ($0.01{\sim}7.56mg\;kg^{-1}$) in soil, root and leaf stem. Further, tolclofos-methyl was detected 4 times separately in root sample alone which is less ($0.01{\sim}0.05mg\;kg^{-1}$) than their maximum residual limit (MRL) in ginseng. Consequently, the results from both studies indicate the residues of tolclofos-methyl found in ginseng cultivated soil and ginseng ensuring their safety level. Moreover, long-term evaluations are needed in order to protect the soil as well as ginseng free from tolclofos-methyl residues.

사출성형에 의한 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 레진본드자석의 자기적 특성

  • 본 연구에서는 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 자성분말과 바인더로 polypropylene을 사용하여 compound를 제조한 후 사출성형에 의해 이방성 Nd-Fe-B 레진본드자석을 제조하여 자성분말의 함량, 인가자장 및 사출성형 온도에 따른 자기적 특성 및 유변학적 특성을 조사하였다. Torque sensor에 의해 측정한 본 연구에 사용된 이방상 Nd-Fe-B계 자성분말의 최대 분말함량은 70.7vol%이었다. Compound의 자성분말 함량이 증가함에 따라 레진본드자석의 잔류자속밀도와 최대자기에너지적은 증가하여 54vol%에서 최대값을 보인후 다시 감소하였고, 보자력은 변화가 없었다. 54vol% 자성분말 함량 이상에서 잔류자속밀도와 최대자기에너지적이 다시 감소하는 것은 사출성형시 자성분말의 배향도 저하에 기인한다. 이것은 compound의 자성분말 함량이 증가함에 따라 compound의 유동성이 저하되어 사출성형시 자성분말의 이방화를 어렵게 만들기 때문이다. 사출성형 온도가 증가함에 따라 레진본드자석의 자기적 특성은 증가하였다. 이는 성형온도가 증가함에 따라 compound의 유동성이 향상되어 자성분말의 배향도가 증가되었기 때문이다. 따라서 사출성형에 의해 이방성 Nd-Fe-B계 레진본드자석 제조시 자기적 특성을 향상시키기 위해서는 compound의 자성말 함량 뿐만 아니라 compound의 유동성이 중요하게 고려되어야 한다.

  • In this paper, a noble second stage hetero-estimator is used for positioning error detection in mobile robot. Previous methods are either expensive in the case of positioning error correction or not able to detect positioning error. To overcome the latter shortage, the positioning error detection is performed using second stage hetero-estimator in motor model of mobile robot without any additional costs. A Kalman filter in the estimator gets the residual of motor current and an adaptive self-tunning filter checks the whiteness of the residual. Some simulation results show the possibility of the proposed method.

  • The residual stress on drilled shafts is often neglected. Neglect of the existence of locked-in loads in the shaft is the main reason for conclusions of instrumented tests which suggest that shaft resistance is smaller when the shaft is loaded in tension than when it is loaded in compression. A few researchers studied the residual stress and mentioned that the residual stress is influenced by either the physical expansion/contraction of concrete during the curing or site stratigraphy. In this study, field measurements of residual stress on test shafts were conducted and the factors influencing the residual stress were figured out.

Dissipation Pattern of Amisulbrom in Cucumber under Greenhouse Condition for Establishing Pre-harvest Residue Limit (생산단계 잔류허용 기준 설정을 위한 시설 재배 오이 중 살균제 Amisulbrom의 잔류특성 연구)

  • The dissipation patterns of amisulbrom in cucumber under a greenhouse condition was investigated to establish biological half-life and pre-harvest residue limit (PHRL). Amisulbrom residue in/on cucumber on the day of application under standard application condition was $0.15mg\;kg^{-1}$ and decreased to $0.06mg\;kg^{-1}$ after 5 days after treatment, so that biological half-life calculated 3.6 day, while initial concentration of amisulbrom twice application 3 days interval under standard application condition was $0.35mg\;kg^{-1}$ and decreased to $0.09mg\;kg^{-1}$ after same period and the biological half-life calculated 2.4 day. PHRL was suggested by prediction curve calculated from the decay constant of amisulbrom at standard rate. For example, $1.83mg\;kg^{-1}$ at 5 days before harvest and $1.03mg\;kg^{-1}$ at 2 days before harvest were suggested.

Residual Characteristic of Chlorpyrifos in Squash and Estimation of Its Residues Before Harvest (애호박 중 Chlorpyrifos의 잔류특성 및 수확전 잔류량 예측)

  • This study was carried out to survey the residual characteristic of chlorpyrifos and estimate their residues in squash before harvest. The pesticide was sprayed onto the crop at the recommended and its double rates 10 days before the prearranged harvest and sampling was done at 0, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 10 days after spraying. The amounts of the chlorpyrifos residue in the crop was analyzed by chromatographic method. Limit of detection (LOD) of chlorpyrifos was 0.005 mg/kg and its recovery ranged from 95.21 to 102.69%. The initial concentration of chlorpyrifos sprayed with recommended dose exceeded its MRL of 0.1 mg/kg but its concentration was less than its MRL 10 days after application. However its concentration in case of the double dose was over its MRL both immediately and 10 days after application. Biological half-lives of chlorpyrifos sprayed onto squash was 2.5 and 2.9 days at the recommended and double doses, respectively. Ten days later, the residual concentration of chlorpyrifos in squash was decreased substantially. The concentration of chlorpyrifos was estimated in squash at the given day using its regression equations. The estimated concentration of chlorpyrifos in case of application with recommended dose was below its MRL at 10 days after application but its concentration in case of application with double dose was over its MRL at 10 days of the prearranged harvest. The rate of the estimated daily intake (EDI) of chlorpyrifos to its acceptable daily intake (ADI) was 282% right after application but it decreased to less than 18% at 10 days of the prearranged harvest.
