An usefulness study on estimation and control method of EGR ratio using intake manifold pressure in an gasoline engine (가솔린엔진에서 흡기관 압력을 이용한 EGR율의 추정 및 제어 방법에 관한 유용성 연구)

  • The EGR system being reburned the part of the exhaust gas through intake system indicates more favorable emission characteristics to reduce NOx in a gasoline engine, but the case of inappropriate exhaust gas quantity induced from engine is fallen engine power caused by unstable combustion. In this study, we examined a method to predict EGR ratio according to various engine operation condition based by intake manifold pressure and confirmed such a prediction data through an experimental method. And after having constituted feedback EGR control algorithm in a base with such a prediction data, we acquired qualitatively similar results by having compared data provided through an EGR feedback control experiment with the data which calculated quantity of residual gas for the engine operation condition. Therefore, the applied algorithm and the system for feedback EGR control showed feasibility applied to real electronic control EGR technology.

  • The quantitative assessment of the effect of the residual stress on fracture behavior was executed by some experiment and numerical analysis. First of all, artificial residual stresses were imposed on CT(Compact Tension) specimens by local heating using gas torch, and an appropriate distribution of residual stresses was obtained by thermal elastic-plastic FE analysis. To certify the result of the FE analysis, an experimental measurement was performed in accordance with ASTM standard. Fracture toughness test was executed on the several types of specimens. The first type was the specimen without residual stresses, and the others had different peak value of compressive residual stress at crack front via controlling the heat flux. All the test results were presented on th J resistance(JR) curves and discussed to verify the effect of compressive residual stresses on fracture behavior.

  • Silicon trench etching has been carried out using a magnetically enhanced reactive ion etching system in HBr plasma containing He-$O_2$, $CF_4$. The changes of etch rate and etch profile, the degree of residue formation, and the change of surface chemical state were investigated as a function of additive gas flow rate. A severe lateral etching was observed when pure HBr plasma was used to etch the silicon, resulted in a pot shaped trench. When He-$O_2$, $SiF_4$ additives were added to HBr plasma, the lateral etching was almost eliminated and a better trench etch profile was obtained. The surface etched in HBr/He-$O_2/SiF_4$ plasma showed relatively low contamination and residue elements compared to the surface etched in HBr/He-$O-2/CF_4$plasma. In addition, the etching characteristics including low residue formation and chemically clean etched surface were obtained by using HBr containing He-$O_2$ or $SiF_4$ additive gases instead of $CF_4$ gas, which were confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

  • Welding is essential in ship production since welding is very popular method for joining two or more metals. However, welding causes residual stress and distortion and these give a bad influence to the structure strength and assembly of ship blocks. Therefore, prediction and treatment of residual stress and distortion is a key to accuracy control in shipyard. In this paper, a computational procedure, based on thermal-elastic-plastic 3-dimensional FEA, has been suggested to simulate butt and fillet welding process. In the simulation process, temperature distribution at each time step is obtained by heat transfer analysis and then thermal deformation analysis is done with obtained temperature distributions to find the residual stress and distortion. In heat transfer analysis, enthalpy method is used to realize phase change at melting temperature. Also element birth and death method is used to simulate adding of weld metal in both heat transfer analysis and thermal elastic plastic analysis. The proposed procedure is verified by related researches and the results show good agreement with those of related researches.

Monitoring of Aluminium Phosphide Residues in Wheat and Wheat Flour (밀과 밀가루 중 알루미늄포스파이드 잔류량 모니터링)

  • GC-NPD analysis was performed on residues of aluminium phosphide in raw wheat and wheat products by trapping gaseous phosphine in the headspace of vessel. In Australian wheat, over 95% of samples were detected below 1 ppb, considered as safe level, whereas in American wheat, about 70% of 58 samples were detected within 1-10 ppb with 4 showing over 10 ppb. About 14-22% phosphine residues of raw wheat were retained after milling process. Wheat samples of same origin showed significant varying levels of phosphine.

Comparison of Dry Etching of GaAs in Inductively Coupled $BCl_3$ and $BCl_3/Ar$ Plasmas ($BCl_3$$BCl_3/Ar$ 유도결합 플라즈마에 따른 GaAs 건식식각 비교)

  • 고밀도 유도결합 플라즈마(high density inductively coupled plasma) 식각은 GaAs 이종접합 양극성 트랜지스터(HBTs)와 고속전자 이동도 트랜지스터(HEMTs)와 같은 GaAs 기반 반도체의 정교한 패턴을 형성하는데 더욱 많이 이용되고 있다 본 연구는 고밀도 플라즈마 소스(source)인 평판형(planar) 고밀도 유도결합 플라즈마 식각장치를 이용하여 $BCl_3$$BCl_3/Ar$ 가스에 따른 GaAs 식각결과를 비교 분석하였다. 공정변수는 ICP 소스 파워를 0-500W, RIE 척(chuck) 파워를 0-150W, 공정압력을 0-15 mTorr 이었다. 그리고 가스 유량은 20sccm(standard cubic centimeter per minute)으로 고정시킨 상태에서 Ar 첨가 비율에 따른 GaAs의 식각결과를 관찰하였다. 공정 결과는 식각률(etch rate), GaAs 대 PR의 선택도(selectivity), 표면 거칠기(roughness)와 식각후 표면에 남아 있는 잔류 가스등을 분석하였다. 20 $BCl_3$ 플라즈마를 이용한 GaAs 식각률 보다 Ar이 첨가된 (20-x) $BC1_3/x Ar$ 플라즈마의 식각률이 더 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 식각률 증가는 Ar 가스의 첨가로 인한 GaAs 반도체와 Ar 플라즈마의 충돌로 나타난 결과로 예측된다. $BCl_3$$BC1_3/Ar$ 플라즈마에 노출된 GaAs 반도체 모두 표면이 평탄하였고 수직 측벽도 또한 우수하였다. 그리고 표면에 잔류하는 성분은 Ga와 As 이외에 $Cl_2$ 계열의 불순물이 거의 발견되지 않아 매우 깨끗함을 확인하였다. 이번 발표에서는 $BCl_3$$BCl_3/Ar$ 플라즈마를 이용한 GaAs의 건식식각 비교에 대해 상세하게 보고 할 것이다.

Combustion Performance Tests of Fuel-Rich Gas Generator for Liquid Rocket Engine at Design Point (액체로켓엔진용 가스발생기의 연소성능시험)

  • 본 논문에서는 액체로켓엔진에서 터보펌프의 160kW급 터빈을 구동하고, 액체산소와 케로신을 추진제로 사용하는 가스발생기의 설계점 연소성능시험 결과에 대해 논의하였다. 충돌형 F-O-F 인젝터, 물냉각 채널을 가진 연소실, torch ignitor, turbulence ring 그리고 측정 링을 갖는 가스발생기에 대해 기술하였고, 점화, 연소, 종료 등의 시험 cyclogram에 대해 언급하였다. 설계점에서의 연소시험 및 turbulence ring 장착여부, 연소실 길이 변화에 따른 연소시험의 결과들에 대해 기술하였다. 연소시험 결과 가스발생기는 설계점에서 안정된 작동성을 보여주었고, 연소압력 및 온도 등의 성능이 예측치에 근접하는 결과를 보여 주었다. Turbulence ring은 출구에서의 가스온도를 균일하게 분포시켜 효과적인 혼합 장치임을 보여 주었고, 4-6msec 정도에서의 잔류시간에서는 연소효율의 차이가 크지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 가스발생기 출구에서의 온도는 공급되는 추진제의 O/F ratio에 따라 매우 민감하게 반응함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The residual gas in an spark-ignition engine is one of important factors on emissions and performance such as combustion stability. With high residual gas fractions, flame speed and maximum combustion temperature are decreased and these are deeply related with combustion stability especially at idle and NOx emission at relatively high engine load. Therefore, there is a need to characterize the residual gas fraction as a function of the engine operating load. Therefore, there is a need to characterize the residual gas fraction as a function of the engine operating parameters. In the present study, the quantitative measurement technique of residual gas fraction was studied by using Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector(FRFID). The measuring technique and model for estimation of residual gas fraction were reported in this paper. By the assuming that the raw signal from FRFID saturates with the same slope for firing and misfiring cycle, in-cylinder hydrocarbon(HC) concentration can be estimated. Residual gas fraction can be obtained from the in-cylinder HC concentration measured at firing and motoring condition. The developed measurement and calibration procedure were applied to the limited engine operating and design condition such as intake manifold pressure and valve overlap. The results show relevant trends by comparing those from previous studies.
