Studies on the Soil Freezing Depth and Change of Moisture contents in evergreen Plants upon subzero Temperature in Kangwon area.(2) (강원도지역의 토양 동결심 및 상록식물의 함수량 추이에 관한 연구 (2))

  • Experiments were conducted to investigate the relationships between the soil freezing depth and the accumulated degree-day of temperature below $0^{\circ}C$ at 17 locations during 1989-1990 winter season in kangwon province. The observed results are as follows : 1.When accumulated degree-day of temperature below at was 141t at late January soil freezing depth of sunny place was 46.5cm, that of shaded lot was 59 cm, and that of marginal place sunny or shaded area was 55cm, in Chun cheon. 2.Accumulated degree-day of temperature below at of Dae gwangryong area was more than that of Un-du, whereas soil freezing depth of Dae gwangryong was lower that of Un-du. It was considered that snow covering worked as heat insulator. 3.Soil freezing depth of vinyl mulching on Zoysia turf was less by around 2Ocm than that of non-vinyl mulching. Rice hulls covering of 4Ocm showed the great heat insulation effects with the soil freezing depth of 1.5cm at sunny place and 6.5cm at shaded lot compared to that of 47cm at sunny and 59.5 cm at shaded place bare ground. 4.Among investingated areas, Dunae, Honeg seong gun was the deepest soil freezing, 89cm with $569^{\circ}C$ of accumulated degree-day of temperature below $0^{\circ}C$ at late February. 5.dehydration of Juniperus C. var. Kaizuca, Euonymus japonica, and Chamaecyparis pisifira at winter season was around 5 %, however dehydration of Vinca minor was more than 10 %.   • The Radiative Transfer Model(RTM) for computation of microwave polarimetric backscattering coefficients of a various types of vegitation canopies has been examined in this paper. Leaves in the vegitation canopy are modeled by rectangular resistive sheets, which sizes and orientations are randomly distributed. Surface roughness and soil moisture of soil surface are considered in this computation. The backscattering coefficients of grasslands are computed for various values of radar parameters and canopy parameters. A polarimetric scatterometer radar system at 15 GHz has been used for measurement of the scattering coefficient from a grass canopy and a cabbage canopy. The computation results obtained by the RTM for the canopies are compared with the measurement for examination of the RTM.

  • 자연초원(natural grassland)은 연간 강수량이 $250\sim1000mm$, 기온이 $0\sim26^{\circ}C$인 지역에서 형성되는 기후극상의 식생으로써 초본식물, 특히 벼과식물이 우점되어 있다. 이 자연초원은 세계에 널리 분포되어 있는데 지역에 따라 온대초원 열대초원, steppe, prairie, pampa등으로, 식물의 초고에 따라 장초형 초원 단초형초원으로 분류한다. 한국에는 연간 강수량이 많고 연평균기온이 높아서 기후 극상의 자연초원은 성립되지 못하고 식생천이의 도중상으로 소규모의 초본식물군락이 나타난다. 이들은 주로 방치된 경작지나 경작지주변의 인간간섭이 많은곳, 해수나 강물의 영향으로 나무가 생장할 수 없는 곳에 식생천이의 도중상으로 나타나거나, 산림이 산불이나 벌목으로 파괴된 곳에서 제2차천이의 과정으로 초본식물군락이 출현하는데 이것을 야초지(native grassland)라고 한다. 특히 야초지에 가축을 사육할 목적으로 목초를 재배하여 이용할 때는 초지라고 한다. 한국의 야초지식생을 구성하는 주요 우점초종은 억새, 새, 솔새, 잔디, 갈대, 쑥 등이며 건조하고 기온이 높은 여름에는 C-4형 식물이, 수분이 많고 서늘한 봄과 가을에는 C-3형 식물이 높은 생산성을 나타낸다. 야초지는 지표면을 피복하여 바람이나 빗물에 의한 토양침식을 방지할 뿐만아니라 초식동물의 먹이를 생산하고 자연경관을 아름답게 가꾸어 주는 중요한 역활을 하고 있으나 공장부지 주택지 농업용지등으로 개발되어 없어지고 관리가 이루어지지 않아 황폐화 되고 있다. 야초지를 효과적으로 보전하고 이용하기 위해서는 생장이 빠르고 생산성이 높은 우수한 목초를 재배하는 것이 바람직한데 그 방법으로는 겉뿌림초지조성법, 제경법, 시비법이 이용된다.

Evaluation of Fungicides, Nozzle Type, and Spray Volume on Control of Typhula Blight on Cool Season Turfgrass (한지형잔디에 설부병 방제에 대한 살균제, 노즐타입 및 살포약량의 평가)

  • Commercial formulation of fungicides was studied in vitro for sensitivity against Typhula species causal agents of Typhula blight. Efficacies of fungicides application, spray volume, nozzle types and fungicides applied time (early fall and late fall) were evaluated for their influence on the chemical control of Typhula blight of turfgrass during the winter season in Wisconsin. All fungicides effectively reduced the mycelial growth of eight isolates of Typhula spp. in vitro on potato dextrose agar (PDA) media. For inhibitory effects on mycelial growth of eight isolates, propiconazole was the most effective at $1.0{\mu}g$ active ingredient (a.i) / ml of PDA. Typhula incarnata two isolates were significantly more sensitive to all fungicides of PDA than six isolates of three varieties of T. ishikariensis. For 2 years in field experiment, unsprayed control has significantly more disease severity than seven fungicides were applied to field plots at two locations. Propiconazole was the most effective for controlling Typhula blight, at two locations in both years. The level of disease control was not dependent on fungicides spray volume or nozzle types at two locations. The disease damage treated with triadimefon applied time (early fall and late fall) was not significantly different at two location for two years.

Control Effect on Dollar Spot Disease Caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa under Different Application Rates and Intervals with Two Mixed Fungicides (혼용된 2종의 살균제 살포 농도 및 간격에 따른 잔디 동전마름병 방제효과)

  • Dollar spot caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa F.T. Benn. is a common and economically important turfgrass disease in South Korea. Fungicides mixture (propiconazole 25% + boscalid 47%) treatments, showing synergistic interaction, with three application rates (low: 50.3 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 97.5 g $10a^{-1}$, intermediate: 67.0 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 130.0 g $10a^{-1}$, and high: 100.5 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 195.0 g $10a^{-1}$) and two application intervals (10 and 15 days) were evaluated for control of dollar spot in creeping bentgrass golf course putting green. In both nontreated plots of field A and B, the disease has severed as 48.3 and 60.0% after the pathogen inoculation. Two fungicide mixture treatments showed significantly higher the disease control effect than a single fungicide treatment (propiconazole). Field A which showed more the disease severity but the fungicide still showed acceptable level of the disease efficacy (89.0%), significant differences in control value were not detected among treatments. The results suggest that the lower application rate of two fungicides mixture treatments may reduce the dollar spot disease severity in creeping bentgrass golf course putting green.

  • 1967년 우리나라에 국립공원제도가 도입실시된 이래 20년동안 전국의 국립공원은 주무부처인 건설장관으로부터 각시.도지사가 관리권을 위임받아 해당 시장.군수에 의해 실질적으로 관리돼 왔었다. 1970.9.9 설악산, 1980.8.8. 내장산 그밖의 자연공원에 케이블카가 시설된것도 잘아는 일, 또한 탐방객이 많은 공원일수록, 심지어 대가람의 코밑에까지 집단시설등 용도지구가 설계되고 용돼 왔다. 내장산의 내장사 지구의 경우는 12년전 관리소에서 2.7km 떨어진 아래로 집단시설지역을 변경, 강제이주시킨후 그자리에 "케블카" 를 시설했고, 철거된 잔디녹지가 음성적인 상가로 둔갑되어가도 관리소로선 잡상근절책을 세우지 못한채 작년 8월 국립공원관리공단에 인도됐다. 이와 같이 대부분의 공단관리소들은 지자단분가 물려준 어려운 숙제를 넘겨받아 큰시련을 겪고 있다. 그당시는 심묵또는 양해가 됐던 똑 같은 문제도 공단이 관리를 맡은이후 부터는 몹시 따갑게 비판해 오고 있다. 사사건건제동을 걸고 있는듯 하기고 하고 어차피 해결해야할 문제들도 많아 노출된 것부터 하나하나 단편적일지라도 파고들어 소리의 진의를 듣고 냉정한 대비책을 세워야 한다고 본다.

Effect of Sand Particle Sizes on Turf Vegetation of Creeping Bentgrass (모래입경이 Creeping Bentgrass 잔디 초지의 식생에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted from March 21 to July 9 in 2004 at JeJu Island to investigate the effect of different particle sizes (0.3-0.5, 0.5-0.8, 0.8-1.0, 1.0-1.5 and 1.5-2.0mm) on creeping bentgrass vegetation. The results obtained were summarized as follows; plant height became shorter as particle size was increased from 0.3-0.5 to 1.5-2.0 n. Root length, Minolta SPAD-502 chlorophyll reading value, leave and root weight were directly proportional plant height response. Degree of land cover and density of creeping bentgrass decreased as the particle size was increased from 0.3-0.5 to 1.5-2.0nm, and degree land cover and density of weed increased. The number of weed species were increased as the sand particle size was increased. Then ranking of the dominant weeds were Portulaca oleracea, Trifolium repens and Cyperus amuricus (at 0.3-0.5 and 0.5-0.8mm particle size), Trifolium repens, Portulaca oleracea and Polygonum hydropiper (at 0.8-1.0mm particle size), Portulaca oleracea, Polygonum hydropiper and Poa annua (at 1.5-2.0mm particle size). Based on the these findings, the optimum sand particle size for growth of creeping bentgrass seems to be about 0.3-0.5m in volcanic ash soils of Jeju island.

  • This study elicited the necessity of considering regional climate change on Low Impact Development (LID) application by evaluating its effect on LID efficiency. The relationship between climate change factors and LID efficiency was evaluated with Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) showing the increase of annual precipitation and representative evapotranspiration. Simply lowering lawn surface (LID3), a practical option to increase retention and infiltration effect, demonstrated hydrological improvement above two conventional options, bioretention with green roof (LID1) and bioretention only (LID2). High runoff reductions of applied options at RCP 4.5, supposing taking efforts for mitigating green house gases, revealed that climate change countermeasures were preferable to LID efficiencies. The increase of precipitation had more influence in hydrological change than that of reference evapotranspiration.

  • In general weed vegetation analysis has been applied to the study of weed population shift. However, it is a limited tool for understanding a problem region and a specific weed species in a certain area. Recently GIS may be used as an important tool to solve this target or to conduct specific field analysis which enables to introduce a reasonable management strategy. Thus, the GIS study was carried out to understand an integrated weed population changes between 1981 and 1992 in Korea. The nationwide weed survey was performed through the whole rice paddy fields in 1981 and 1992. Weed occurrence was totally different over whole country based on these data. In 1981 a region with high weed occurrence was at western and central areas of Korea in terms of weed population density but this was changed into western and southern area in 1992. In both years there were high weed population density at Taean, Seosan county of Chungnam province in Korea. Thus, this particular area may be needed to introduce a special strategy to reduce weed population density and/or to control problem weed species.

Occurrence and Cenesis of Perlite from the Beomgockri Group in Janggi Area (장기지역 범곡리층군에 부존되는 진주암의 산출상태와 생성관계)

  • Perlite, a hydrated volcanic glass, occurs mainly as a bed-like body, and is distributed intermittently along the unconformity surface between the Beomgockri Group and its lower formations, viz. Janggi Group. The perlite is intimately associated with surrounding pumiceous welded tuff and rhyodacites in space and time. Compared to the typical perlite, the perlite is rather silica-poor and impure, and thus, includes lots of phenocrysts and rock fragments. Nearly the perlite is compositionally rather close to a pitchstone than a perlite in water contents. Petrographic comparison between perlite and associated volcanic to volcaniclastic rocks indicates that pumiceous welded tuff and rhyodacite seem to be Protolith of the Perlite. A Zr/$TiO_{2}$-Nb/Y diagram and field occurrence of perlite and their protolithic rocks also conforms the above interpretation. Kn addition, remnant vesicles in perlite strongly reflect that the precursor of perlitic glass appeared to be pumice fragment as well as volcanic glass. The perlite was diagenetically formed by way of a pervasive water-rock interaction at the deposition of the Manghaesan Formation in lacustrine environment. During perlitization, $SiO_{2}$ and alkali tend to be consistently depleted. Preexisting system of the Beomgockri Group based on the perlite formation should be corrected, because the perlite was formed diagenetically without lateral persistence in its occurrence.
