  • This study examined the impacts of types of titles of artworks, especially 'untitled', on audience reponse. Generally, naming can be a tool to represent characteristics of objects, affecting their market value and price. Since contemporary artworks are often untitled, this study aimed to investigate how naming 'untitled' would affect audience response. As the size of arts market increasing, how the audience, potential buyer of artworks, responds to artworks is important. Based on prior research, we hypothesized that the audience would have different level of understanding, attention, attractiveness and curiosity to untitled artworks, controlling other factors. In the regression results from the data of 305 respondents, we found that people had significantly lower level of understanding and attention on untitled artworks than on artworks of explanatory or associative titles. In addition, respondents showed significantly higher level of curiosity when the artwork was an painting. This study confirmed the assertions of prior research that titles are indeed important, and further implied that artwork creators should be more concerned on naming their artworks since titles as well as artworks themselves could actually affect audience response.

  • It can be said that the role of character is very important for the development of animation contents. It is because unlike in general motion picture, the emotional character, which is artificially controlled, plays the functional role in animation. Because of the function, the character may be differently expressed, depending on the culture of each country. However, general audiences and people selecting commodities have common factors. It seems that USA and Japan, which have led the world culture in the field of animation planning and manu facture, perform the animation manufacture by applying them properly. The purpose of this presentation is to analyze the works of USA and Japan, which have led animation manufacture. Because numerous works have been manufactured in two countries regardless of genres, the selection was made by concentrating on representative works that achieved good results from character commercialization. Therefore, the study will suggest the methodological direction for the new development of character, which is performed in industrial animation work and education field.

  • The purpose of this study is to discover the possibility to expand the aesthetic interpretation of dance works. For this purpose, this study analyzes Maguy Marin's (1981) because it shows Sigmund Freud's concept of uncanny and grotesque images well. The theoretical framework of this study was centered on previous academic studies, and Hoffman's Der Sandmann(1816) was presented as an example to help the conceptual understanding of uncanny and grotesque. The analysis of of Magi Marin was divided into stage space, dancer's movements, costumes, and voice. As a result of this study, it was discovered that is a work with an experimental spirit that deviated from the stereotypes of traditional stage aesthetics. And it was implemented as uncanny and grotesque images in the choreography structure. In addition, as the changes of the times have a great influence on the creation of dance works, it is thought that the discourse of various aesthetic interpretation methods in dance works can provide various directions for dance creation in the future. Therefore, this study will be helpful in raising the aesthetic value and status of dance art.

  • Claude Debussy's is a solo piano piece written in 1894. However, for unknown reasons, the entire piece was not published until 1977, despite clear evidence that Debussy intended to publish it during his lifetime. Interestingly, the second movement of the three pieces comprised in the work was published independently in February 1896 through the Parisian periodical Le Grand Journal. Partly because the work was recently published, it remains relatively more unknown to pianists and music lovers than other piano solo pieces by Debussy. Thus, this article addresses in detail the compositional background of this work, focusing on why the work was not published during Debussy's lifetime. Furthermore, by analyzing this piece in detail, this article intends to discuss the stylistic characteristics of the work regarding its melody, phrase structure, harmony, and form. This survey, which would help understand the musical style embodied in this piece, aims to contribute to improving the awareness of the work.

The work let the audiences highly evoke interest and curiosity through offering magnificent sceneries, weird and funny creatures and stimulating imagination, before having no idea about the work producted by Miyajaki Hayao, one of the greatest directors. Well-concentrated his works seem to be easy to understand but have a variety of meanings in very different ways. Expending the range of analysis of his works, for example, from its technical to cultural and philosophical etc. has an enormous amount of value of diversity such as a ray of light passing through a prism. For this reason, has been studied in many different views. This paper will analyse this animation in respect of ideas of eastern as well as western to show differences from former papers. The ideas of eastern and western seem to be not in a line, but this study will suggest that the two different ideas are not different, actually. • In the 21st century, the phenomenon of interaction in between fine art and design has become more increasingly prevalent. In this paper, the author has analyzed the major works of Spanish artist Eva $Armis{\dot{e}}n$ on a cultural criticism perspective, and has proposed a framework for a deeper understating of the artworks, which reflected the characteristics of contemporary art and culture such as deterritorialization of art and design. As a result, it has been found that the main theme of her artworks is about preferred attitude of a human being in relationship with others, unlike daily lives or innocence of childhood which are well-known subjects to the public. Her main female character could have been formed by blending all of her aesthetic reason, and characteristics of this era and cultural elements. It means that the area where the public enjoys the sense of beauty have been extending from the area of the beautiful to the beauty of universality. It has been found that deterriorialization phenomena, which is a characteristic of post-modern art and design work to dismantle an existing order, the repression, appeared in her work. However, several research areas of her works such as relationship between text and image or formative elements or aphorism etc. still have remained to be solved.
