Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the experiences of novice occupational therapists working at a child private clinic center in the clinical experience process of sensory integration therapy and to understand the adaptation process in child private clinic center. Methods : The participants were four occupational therapists with less than 1 year of clinical experience. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, and the recorded interview responses were transcribed and analyzed. The analysis of the data was made by phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi. Results : As a result of analyzing the adaptation process of novice occupational therapists working at the child private clinic center, 3 categories, 6 themes, and 16 main meanings were derived. Novice occupational therapists experienced difficulties arising from clinical, obstacles from the working environment, positive factors inside the center, support from outside the center, self-effort, and changes through adaptation experience. Conclusion : Along with changes to the social system and pediatric rehabilitation institution, one's own effort are also required so that novice child occupational therapists working at child private clinic centers can adapt and perform at their roles.

Objective : This study investigates correlations between job-stress and job-relation feture in occupational therapists in nursing home. Method : For this study, self-reported questionnaires were distributed by online and offline survey to 237 occupational therapist from May to June in 2012. Fifty two of the questionnaires were returned, acceptable 46 survey responses were analyzed, expect 6 unclearly answered. Result : The results correlations between the 6 job-stress factors(confliction of professional role, lack of professional knowledge and skills, problem of personal relationship, disagreement with predecessor(manager, chief, etc), limitation of medical system, inappropriate salary) and 4 job-relation feature(period of job, annual salary, work out of therapy, job stability). Conclusion : This study demonstrates correlations between job-stress factors and job-relation feature in occupational therapist working in nursing home. Job-stress average 3.52points of 5points contributes more affecting the stress. Further research is necessary to more sample occupational therapist in nursing home.

Objective : The objective of this study was understanding the procedure of self-care training in occupational therapy and exploring experienced occupational therapists' perspectives in self-care training Method : A phenomenological study design was used to collect information regarding use of self-care training among occupational therapists working in a different settings. The data collection process was conducted by using a structured interview and survey. Result : The self-care training strategies used by occupational therapists were summarized to four main themes; 1. Different strategies for different age group, 2. Design therapeutic strategy rely on client's natural environment, 3. Use of theoretical background: occupation-based or client-centered, or both. 4. Use of self-awareness stragety; using different method to reflect self-awareness. Conclusion : The self-care training is not just simply conduct ADL training but understanding client's age, environment, theoretical background, and self-awareness of the client. Through eatablishing understandable self-care training strategy according to client's age and environment, the more effective self-care training would be possible.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of intensive one-day training on Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 screening developmental coordination disorder. Methods : We provided intensive one-day training which combined lecture and practice on MABC-2 assessment tools for 33 trainees. Interrater reliability was calculated by using Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) with the raw score of results scored simultaneously by experts and trainees of MABC-2. Results : The 33 female trainees with an average of five years and three months of experience and less experience using motor skill assessment tools scored raw score while watching the performance scenes of normal children. The results of the ICC between experts and training participants in MABC-2 obtained a high confidence 0.95 and above (p<.001). Conclusion : Clinicians who participated in one-day training seems to use MABC-2 effectively. Through this, one-day training seems to be effective in acquiring new motor skill assessment tools.

This study was conducted to find out the appropriateness of knowledge and education of occupational therapists' community rehabilitation jobs for community care. A questionnaire was developed to find out the job knowledge level of occupational therapists working in the community and the appropriateness of school education and maintenance education, and the validity and reliability were verified through a preliminary survey. Based on the verified questionnaire, a survey was conducted on occupational therapists working in the community. As a result, overall, the average score was low in the level of knowledge about the job of occupational therapists engaged in the community and the appropriateness of school education and maintenance education. Through this study, we were able to know the necessary knowledge in the practice of community occupational therapy, understand the level of knowledge retention of occupational therapists working in the community, and learn about the appropriateness of school education and maintenance education. Referring to the results of this study, if a systematic education program related to community occupational therapy jobs is developed in existing medical institution-centered education, the job knowledge level of occupational therapists in the community can be raised. Amid the rapidly changing times and the pandemic of infectious diseases, additional research is needed on job-related knowledge and education corresponding to various occupations in charge of rehabilitation in the community.

Objective : This study aimed to identify the experiences and practices of occupational therapists in mental health and provide interventions for improving body function in individuals with mental illness. Methods : Data were collected from mental health therapists between November 7 and November 14, 2022. A survey was distributed via email and 46 responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlations. Results : The majority were female (58.7%), aged 20-30 years (84.8%), working in mental health centers (41.3%), and undergoing mental health occupational therapy training (91.3%). They had 1-3 years of mental health experience (65.2%) and were commonly involved in programs (71.1%), case management (62.2%), and administration (57.8%). Interventions for physical functioning were common (73.9%), including group interventions (41.2%), such as stretching, aerobic exercise, and walk training, and individual interventions (38.1%), such as walking, stretching, and aerobic exercise. Conclusion : Occupational therapists play a crucial role in enabling individuals with mental illness to engage in daily life activities. However, relevant studies in this field are lacking. This study emphasizes the importance of mental health occupational therapy and the need for evidence-based services for physical function improvement interventions to provide more effective treatments for mental illnesses.

Objective : The purpose of the research is to investigate Korean occupational therapists' awareness of Evidence-Based Practice(EBP), basis of clinical decision making, barrier factors of EBP execution. Methods : Form December 2009 to March 2010, 500 questionnaires were sent out to clinical occupational therapists and 160 questionnaire which are returned by the therapists were analyzed through descriptive statistics. Results : There are more female respondents than male. More than 90% of them had less than 5 years experience. Most of respondents hadn't experienced education concerning EBP(76%), and the education is not periodically conducted(55%). Moreover, treatment was being tailored based on subjective judgement. On the other hand, the degree of recognition showed that the professionalism of occupational therapists can be improved through EBP(96%), and be helpful to make clinical decision(88%). Most of the therapists answered that guaranteeing enough time to search the basis of treatment(90%) and participating in the education course(92%) is needed to make EBP applicable. This result shows that while the application rate of EBP is low, the recognition rate of EBP is high, which means it is necessary to revitalize EBP education program. Conclusions : In order to provide quality service, education course and instructor training program is needed. We should also make a great effort to offer evidence-based education to occupational therapy students. Furthermore, EBP has to be carried out to improve the professionalism of occupational therapists, and the research about education program and its effect has to be executed.

Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate job tasks of Korean pediatric occupational therapists focusing on sensory integration intervention provided in hospitals, private centers, welfare centers, and to identify job differences depending on the types of agency. Methods : A survey was performed for 122 pediatric occupational therapists focused on sensory integration intervention by utilizing a questionnaire from July to September 2017. The questionnaire was consisted of job description for the pediatric occupational therapists. Results : There were differences in tasks' importances, frequencies, and difficulties according to the three type of agency. Differences were showed total 10 tasks in importance, total 7 tasks in frequency, and total 2 tasks in difficulty depending on the agency type. Conclusion : Occupational therapists need to identify job differences depending on agency type and to develop essential competencies required to perform the job tasks which emphasized at each agency.

Objective : This study aimed to investigate the level of human rights sensitivity of occupational therapists and compare the differences in the level of human rights sensitivity between variables to provide a basis for awareness, human rights behavior, and the development of human rights education programs. Methods : A questionnaire consisting of general characteristics and 10 human rights susceptibility episodes was distributed, and 131 copies were analyzed. Results : The average score for human rights sensitivity was 58.75 for male and 55.44 for female therapists. As for the difference in human rights sensitivity by episode by sex, statistically significant differences were found in the right to avoid illegal arrest and restriction and the right to freedom from imprisonment. In addition, as a result of differences in changes in human rights sensitivity by subcategory, there was a statistically significant difference between males and females in the perception of responsibility. In the case of males, the average score for perception of responsibility was the highest, and in the case of females, the average score for perception of the situation was the highest. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to strengthen the content of educational programs in clinical settings to improve human rights consciousness and behavior.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to establish a systematic educational operation platform by collecting expert opinions so that occupational therapists can use continuing education well as a means to become professional occupational therapists in a particular field. Methods : A Delphi study was conducted with 23 experts on continuing education courses in common areas, elderly or dementia, community-based, physical rehabilitation, and developmental disabilities conducted in 2019 and 2020. The first Delphi investigated the suitability of the course as a professional continuing education and the appropriate level of education. In the second Delphi, we derived the final platform by verifying its suitability with verification of its content validity. Results : As a result, 87 items were derived for common areas, 53 items for elderly or dementia, 66 items for community-based, 66 items for physical rehabilitation, and 85 items for developmental disabilities. The main contents included the expertise needed by occupational therapists, the role in various fields, the solution of difficulties in clinical practice, and the topic of preparing for the future. Conclusion : This study was meaningful in presenting an educational operation platform for training professional occupational therapists as a basic study. It is hoped that the optimal education operation platform will be developed to strengthen professional skills of occupational therapists efficiently through future research.
