  • Metal prices are rapidly rising due to increasing demand of metals and limited available resources according to the industrial requirement. As a result, securing a stable supply of these metal resources has been recognized as a core element of national competitiveness and sustained economic growth. In the case of magnesium and its alloys which are entirely depending on import, low-grade magnesium scraps from end-of-life vehicles and 3C(Camera, Computer, Communication) parts and magnesium wastes such as sludge and dross generated during melting process are hardly recycled. Accordingly, the development and commercialization of recycling technology of low-grade magnesium scrap is desperately needed to improve efficiency of resource circulation and to establish the required proprietary of resource metal supply and demand. In this study, papers and patents on recycling technologies of waste magnesium were analyzed. The range of search was limited in the open patents of USA (US), European Union (EP), Japan (JP), Korea (KR) and SCI journals from 1974 to 2012. Patents and journals were collected using key-words searching and filtered by filtering criteria. The trends of the patents and journals was analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

  • For the purpose of energy consumption and green-house gas reduction from building, new insulation materials with improved thermal property have been developed and used. Among new insulation materials, mineral hydrate which compensates for the defects of existing materials is using as a prominent insulation material. The fabrication method of mineral hydrate is similar to that of ALC for building structure but mineral hydrate is only used for insulation. The raw materials that make up of mineral hydrate are cement, lime and anhydrite. Especially anhydrite is all dependant on imports. In this study, Desulfurization Gypsum(DG), by-product of oil plant, was used for replacing for imported anhydrite and waste recycling. DG substituted all of anhydrite and a part of lime. Mineral hydrate used DG had analogous thermal and physical properties, compared to existing mineral hydrate.

  • Block-rate structures are widely used in utility-pricing, including the Korean residential electricity sector. In the case of the current pricing structure, Korean citizens are highly concerned about incurring excessive electricity costs. For these reasons, there have been many discussions concerning mitigation of the strict pricing structure. Existing studies on the residential electricity demand function under block-rate structure have the following three issues - the consumer's budget constraint is non-linear, perceived price under block-rate structure is uncertain, block-rate structure has endogeneity in the price variable. In this context, this paper estimates the residential electricity demand function using micro-level household expenditure data and simulates the impact of alternative block-pricing schedules.

  • We were tried to draw a conclusions related to additive amount of gypsum in blast furnace slag in the study. In the result, fluidity of concrete decreased with an increase of gypsum and was not satisfied with KS standard in the cases of natural gypsum and limestone sludge more than 2.6% addition. Early compressive strength of concrete containing desulfurized gypsum, fluosilicic acid gypsum and phosphoric acid gypsum were improved respectively but calcined lime sludge and lime powder were not influenced on strength. If available, additive gypsum should be managed less than 2.0% owing to low fluidity. In low temperature, fluosilicic acid gypsum was to advantages on the fluidity while desulfurized gypsum was in high temperature. There also are conclusions that additive gypsum was to be 2.6% in winter and in summer; it's to be fewer than 2.6%.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate on the mechanical properties of High Volume Mineral Admixture(HVMA) high strength concrete to reduce the amount use of Ordinary Potland Cement, to discover the optimized HVMA binder and to test HVMA concrete based on the change of W/B and curing temperature. The results were shown as follows: The HVMA binder using the mixture of combined heat power plant fly ash and anhydrous gypsum known as inorganic activators with the mixture of blast furnace slag and fly ash was optimized. The mixture of HVMA high strength concrete at 26% of W/B ratio had a good result on flow characteristic and mechanical properties. High strength HVMA concrete over 50MPa is possibly manufactured over curing temperature $20^{\circ}C$.

  • Coal briquette use has dramatically increased because of high oil prices. Hence, it is necessary to develop an environment-friendly recycling technique of the coal briquette ash. The coal briquette ash contains a large amount of an unburned carbon content and a mullite with high thermal property, so it is considered to be used as raw materials of sintered eco-brick. This study aimed to investigate on how the unburned carbon affects properties of the sintered eco-brick. The eco-brick was mixed with the ratio of 50 wt% coal briquette ash having the unburned carbon 10.5 wt% and 50 wt% cullet, then being sintered at $950^{\circ}C$, which of the compressive strength was in line with the first class of the sintered clay brick standard(KS L 4201). In particular, the compressive strength of the sintered eco-brick was equal to the first class of the KS L 4201 despite the increase of mixing ratio for coal briquette ash with 1.0 wt% unburned carbon to 70 wt%.

  • This experimental study is purposed to analyze the effect of alkaline aqueous solution by electrolysis on strength development in order to develop high volume cement matrix using industrial by-products. Blast furnace slag was used a binder, and an alkaline aqueous solution obtained by electrolyzing pure water was used as an alkali activator. The hydration properties of these specimens were then investigated by compressive strength test, XRD and observation of micro-structures using SEM. As a result, we found that compressive strength increased with the addition of alkaline aqueous solution which cement matrix incorporating blast furnace slag. But those strength decreased reversely when replacing ratio of blast furnace slag was increased. It is judged that results of engineering properties evaluation on the binder and alkaline aqueous solution are useful as a basic data for mixtures design and evaluation properties of high volume cement matrix using by-products.

  • In this paper, we propose the architecture of an IPM based lane detector for autonomous vehicles to detect and control the driving route along the curved lane. In the IPM image, we divide the area into two fields, Far/Near Field, and the lane candidate region is detected using the Hough transform to perform the matching for the curved lane. In autonomous vehicles, various algorithms must be embedded in the system. To reduce the system resources, we proposed a method to minimize the number of memory accesses to the image and various parameters on the external memory. The proposed circuit has 96% lane recognition rate and occupies 16% LUT, 5.9% FF and 29% BRAM in Xilinx XC7Z020. It processes Full-HD image at a rate of 42 fps at a 100 MHz operating clock.

  • Grid accounting model is necessary to support the demand and supply of id resource. Most grid accounting systems currently in use intrude upon site autonomy by modifying local accounting systems or calculate the cost of grid service without regard to site price policy. In this paper we propose and design Grid accounting model based on site price policy. This model assures autonomy of sites participating in gird computing and be able to actively cope with diverse billing services. Also this proposed model enables to provide RUS to Grid entities by transforming basic accounting information into GGF-UR format and allows this entities to exchange resource usage information. In this paper, proposed Grid accounting model enables sites to have autonomy of them and is evaluated for business model to enforce elaborate charging policy, compared with other systems.

  • In order to use the mine tailing which was generated in the flotation process of scheelite ore into the raw material of ordinary portland cement, the characteristics of the prepared cement clinker was investigated. Scheelite mine tailing is composed of 68.8% of $SiO_2$, 8.6% of $Al_2$$O_3$, 10.8% of $Fe_2$$O_3$, 5.0% of CaO, respectively. It exists as $\alpha$-quartz, muscovite, clinochlore and has 8.0% of 88 $\mu\textrm{m}$ residue. When LSF, SM, and IM of the raw materials (such as limestone, convertor slag, fly ash, and mine tailing) are 91.0, 2.60, and 1.60, respectively, the burnability index of the raw materials is 50.7, the crystal size of $C_3$S and $\beta$-C$_2$S in the prepared clinker is 15∼35$\mu\textrm{m}$, and about 3.8% of scheelite mine tailing can be used as raw material.
