A Study on the Image of Gangneung for Regional Name Brand Development (강릉시의 지명활용 지역브랜드개발을 위한 이미지 조사 및 연구)

  • 지명(地名)은 그 지역의 역사와 전설, 문화, 풍속은 물론 독특한 자연환경이나 생활 모습을 담고 있어 농업농촌의 지역적 특성을 나타낸다. 본 연구는 지명유래의 활용성 증진의 한 방편으로 브랜드 및 문화관광상품 개발을 위해 강릉시 지역의 자연마을 지명유래, 이미지, 관광자원 등을 조사하였다. 강릉시의 자연마을 유래 233건에 대한 자료는 국토지리정보원, 문화원자료집, 강릉시 홈페이지, 산, 강, 골, 고적, 못 등 그 외 지명자료는 한글학회 지명총람에서 1,147건을 수집하였다. 자연마을지명의 유래 233건을 8개 유형으로 구분하면 자연지리 60건, 인문지리 40건, 생태환경 37건, 산업경제 14건, 역사 14건, 유적유물 5건, 민속 49, 종교 14건이며, 지형(27건), 풍수(19건), 고사(19건)관련 유래가 많았다. 강릉시 지역브랜드 개발을 위한 요구도 조사는 지역민 162명과 방문객 154명 총 316명을 조사하여 SPSS WIN 12.0 프로그램을 이용 분석하였다. 응답자의 일반적인 특성은 남성이 50.6%, 대졸자가 54.1%, 연령은 40대(26.9%), 1500만원-3000만원 미만의 연소득자 32.3%가 가장 많았다. 강릉시의 형용사적 이미지를 기술통계량으로 살펴보면 지역민은 전통적인, 평화로운, 보수적인, 순수한, 따뜻한 순으로, 방문객은 순수한, 평화로운, 활기찬, 전통적인, 정감있는 순으로 평균값이 높게 나타났고, 요인분석에 의한 지역민과 방문객의 인지적 형용사 도출결과는 진취적, 평화적, 보수적인 3가지 요인이다. 또한 강릉의 대표적 상징자원은 지역민은 경포대(60.5%), 선교장(24.7%), 오죽헌(23.5%)순이며, 방문객은 경포대(74.7%), 정동진(22.7%), 오죽헌(18.8%) 순으로 높게 응답하였고, 지명 호감도는 지역민의 경우 송림(51.2%), 몽룡실(32.1%), 연화장터(18.5%)순이며, 방문객의 경우 송림(43.5%), 솔밭말(23.4%), 금단이(18.2%)순으로 높았다. 향후 본 연구에서 제시된 연구를 통하여 강릉시의 지명을 활용한 브랜드개성을 측정할 수 있어 마케팅 관점에서 강릉시의 브랜드를 도출하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

An Intelligent Media Player for Guaranteeing QoS Streaming Media on Thin-Client Computing (씬클라이언트 컴퓨팅에서 스트리밍 미디어의 QoS를 보장하는 지능형 미디어 플레이어)

  • Due to the limited resources in thin-client and the large amount of computation for decoding MPEG media, it is not easy to support the QoS stream media to clients. To solve the problems, the terminal servers would be charged for decoding the MPEG media and thin-clients have a role to update only the changed areas in their screen. However, these previous approaches cause severely low video quality. In addition, since servers perform all procedures to decode MPEG media, they are easily saturated even under a small number of clients. In this paper, the sources of the low video duality are investigated in the previous thin-clients' solutions working in wireless and wired environments. From the detailed experiments, an intelligent media player is proposed to achieve the QoS streams by supporting both the enhanced video duality and the audio synchronized with video frames.

  • Autonomous data rate control scheme of current IxEV-DO uplink networks can not supper the various QoS requirements of heterogeneous traffics nor hold rise-over-thermal OtoT) constraints. In this paper, an uplink resource management scheme called the modified weighted g-fair (MWGF) scheduler with RoT filling is proposed and evaluated for heterogeneous traffics in cdma2000 type uplink networks. The proposed scheme belongs to a family of centralized resource management schemes and offers QoS guarantee by using priority metrics as well as lower system loading by holding RoT constraints using RoT filling method. With some case-study simulations, the proposed algorithms shows lower average delays of real time users compared to that of autonomous rate control by 29 - 40 %. It also shows the 1.0 - 1.3 dB lower received RoT level than autonomous rate control schemes, leading to lower network loading.

Dealing with the Willingness-to-Pay Data with Preference Intensity : A Semi-parametric Approach (선호강도를 반영한 지불의사액 자료의 준모수적 분석)

  • Respondents, in the willingness to pay (WTP) survey, may have preference intensity about their stated WTP values. This study elicited a post-decisional intensity measure for each observed WTP answer for gathering information on the degree of preference intensity. In order to deal with the WTP data with preference intensity, this paper considers using the Type 3 Tobit model. This is usually estimated by the parametric two-stage estimation method assuming homoskedastic and bivariate normal error structure. However, if the assumptions are not satisfied, the estimates are inconsistent. The author has tested the hypotheses of homoskedasticity and normality, and could not accept them at the 1% level. The assumptions required to estimate the parametric Type 3 model are, therefore, too strong to be satisfied. As an alternative the parametric model, this study applies a semiparametric Type 3 Tobit model. The results show that the semiparametric model significantly outperforms the parametric model, and that more importantly, the mean WTP from the parametric model is significantly different from that from the semiparametric model.

Enhanced Phytoremediation by Echinochloa crus-galli in Arsenic Contaminated Soil in the Vicinity of the Abandoned Mine (폐광지역 비소오염 토양에 대한 피(Echinochloa crus-galli)를 이용한 보강된 식물상복원공법)

  • In order to deal with the problem that phytoremediation takes long time in achieving the practical effect, the enhanced phytoremediation by Barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) was conducted. In addition, we examined the synergistic effect by adding PSM (phosphate -solubilizing microbes) and EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) to the arsenic contaminated soil in the vicinity of the abandoned mine. The removal efficiency of arsenic in the site with PSM application increased about 16% when compared to control site, which was due to increase of plant biomass. The EDTA has been successfully utilized in respect of enhanced mobility and solubility of arsenic in the soil. As a result, BF (bioaccumulation factor) significantly increased but the inhibition of plant growth resulted in 20% reduction of arsenic removal efficiency. The application of PSM and EDTA may enhance the efficiency of phytoremediation. However, the time and method of EDTA application should be further examined to reach the maximum removal efficiency.

Study of Using Carbon Dioxide for Obtaining Potassium Chloride from Cement By-Pass Dust (시멘트 바이패스 더스트 내 염화칼륨 수득을 위한 이산화탄소 적용 연구)

  • As by-pass dust (BPD) made from cement manufactured process is designated waste, it is required to bury as high cost. The main component of BPD is potassium chloride (KCl), and used for the fertilizer. For using KCl to the fertilizer, the pH value of KCl is required as neutral or weak acid. However, it is not suitable to apply BPD into the fertilizer directly without any other treatment because BPD's pH value is shown 12.0~12.5; a high base. In this study, the carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) was used for removing calcium oxide (CaO) and reducing pH value during manufacturing process of KCl. We fixed inner condition of the carbon test chamber as $25^{\circ}C$-50RH%, and retained 0~7 hours under the 20 vol% of $CO_2$ atmosphere. After experiment, we analyzed the content of CaO and pH value from each samples. The more time exposed to $CO_2$, the content of CaO and pH value are shown. Furthermore, pH value exposed in 6 hours nearly reached 7.

IPC-based Dynamic SM management on GPGPU for Executing AES Algorithm

  • Modern GPU can execute general purpose computation on the graphic processing unit, and provide high performance by exploiting many core on GPU. To run AES algorithm efficiently, parallel computational resources are required. However, computational resource of CPU architecture are not enough to cryptographic algorithm such as AES whereas GPU architecture has mass parallel computation resources. Therefore, this paper reduce the time to execute AES by employing parallel computational resource on GPGPU. Unfortunately, AES cannot utilize computational resource on GPGPU since it isn't suitable to GPGPU architecture. In this paper, IPC based dynamic SM management technique are proposed to efficiently execute AES on GPGPU. IPC based dynamic SM management can increase and decrease the number of active SMs by using IPC in run-time. According to simulation results, proposed technique improve the performance by increasing resource utilization compared to baseline GPGPU architecture. The results show that AES improve the performance by 41.2% on average.

A Study on the Design of u-Safety Service and Monitoring Infrastructure (u-방재 서비스 및 모니터링 인프라의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • By the time the interest on the u-City is continuously growing as a test bed for verifying the potentials of ubiquitous convergence industries, research on the u-Safety gradually increases as well, as a typical service and application area of u-City. Like the other service areas of u-City, in order to provide u-Safety services smoothly, it is crucial to integrally connect u-City services and infrastructures that have operated under distributed environment. In this study, we suggest an approach for design of u-Safety service and monitoring architecture by combing CIM/WBEM standard with GMA. CIM/WBEM and GMA are broadly applied in the distributed resource monitoring environment and are widely recognized as data acquisition architecture under massive monitoring data volumes respectively. Considering the growing research needs for standardization and extension of u-City service infrastructure, it is expected that our integrated infrastructure model will be used as a reference model for effective integration of distributed resources with newly added services.

Processing Underwater Images for Information Extraction of Deep Seabed Manganese Nodules as New Energy Resource (미래 에너지 자원탐사를 위한 수중카메라 영상처리에 의한 심해저 망간단괴 정보추출)

  • Worldwide exploring and research for manganese nodules, as new energy resource, distributed on the deep seabed have progressed recently. Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute(KORDI) is a central organization to exploit the manganese nodules in the Pacific Ocean with 5,000m depth. Precise exploration is required for estimating amount of recoverable deposit, and this task could be accomplished by processing digital image processing techniques to the images taken by underwater camera system. Image processing and analysis provide information about characteristics of distribution of the manganese nodules. This study proposed effective methods to remove vignetting effect to improve image quality and to extract information. The results show more reliable information could be obtained by removing the vignetting and feasibility of utilizing image processing techniques for exploring the manganese nodules.

Field Applicability Assessment of Controlled Low Strength Material for Sewer Pipe using Excavated Soil (굴착토를 활용한 유동화 채움재의 현장 적용성 평가)

  • Controlled low strength material(CLSM) has been developed using variety of material such as excavated soil, industrial by-product and industrial waste. But theses research limited at laboratory test and failed at commercialization. So in this paper evaluates CLSM used excavated soil characteristics such as flowability, bleeding rate, early strength for following process and 28day strength for re-excavatability. Also, various mix proportion of CLSM by water-binder ratio and soil-binder ratio were evaluated in laboratory. And derive the optimized CLSM mix proportion for using at field application test by movable batch plant. After applying CLSM at trench, evaluate core sample strength and excavatability by shovel, pickax and excavator for verify re-excavation. Furthermore, measure the level change after casting CLSM to inspect subsidence stability. As results of these assessments, not only confirmed the characteristics of CLSM at field but the fillability around pipe and subsidence stability.
