자외선에 의한 천연 염색 견직물의 취화 연구 -치자, 소목 염색을 중심으로- (Degradation of Natural Dyed Silk Fabrics under Ultraviolet Light(UV) -Focused on Gardenia and Sappanwood-)

  • 견직물 시료에 치자, 소목 염색을 행한 후, 자외선에 0일, 14일, 21일, 28일 조사 시킨 후 시간의 경과에 따른 시료들의 염착량, 색채 변화, 형태 변화, 인장강도 그리고 화학적 변화를 관찰한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 염재의 종류와 매염 여부와 관계없이 자외선 조사 초기 14일 동안에는 염착량이 서서히 감소하다가 그 후에는 급격한 감소를 보였다. 명반 매염을 한 경우 염착량 감소가 더 적었으며 소목이 치자보다 자외선 차단 효과가 더 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 2. 자외선 조사 시간이 길어짐에 따라, $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$, H V/C, ${\Delta}E$ 등은 급격한 변화와 퇴색경향을 보였으며 명반 매염제가 자외선에 의한 탈색을 방지해 주는 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 치자보다 소목의 ${\Delta}E$값이 낮게 나타났는데 이는 염착량 변화의 결과와 일치하며 소목이 치자보다 자외선 차단 효과가 더 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 3. 염색 견직물 시료들 모두 자외선 조사 시간 경과에서, 초기에는 섬유 표면의 피브릴 분리현상을 보였으며 조사 시간 증가에 따라 섬유 표면이 더 깊고 두껍게 박리되어 손상이 심해졌으나 SEM 측정에서는 두 염료의 매염제 처리 유, 무의 차이는 발견하기가 힘들었다. 4. 자외선 조사에 따라 인장강도는 자외선 조사 14일 이후부터 감소되어 인장강도 감소율은 대략 5-20%의 유지율을 나타내었으며 매염 처리 시료의 인장강도 감소율이 더 낮았다. 5. FT-IR 분석에 의하면 자외선 조사 시간 증가에 따라 치자와 소목 주 피크들은 사라지고 견섬유의 주 피크만이 확인되었다.

녹차 염색포의 자외선 차단 효과 연구 (The UV Blocking Effect Of Fabrics & Banji Dyed With Green Tea)

  • Green tea has various medical effects. It was selected as new natural dyes guessing the effects of the biological activities are still appeared on dyeing. It was examined whether they have the function of Uv-blocker or not. Cotton, linen & Hanji were dyed with Green tea. Al, Cr, Cu, Fe and Sn were selected as the mordant and the UV blocking rate of dyed samples was measured. The results of this study as follows; 1 . The color of dyed samples with Green tea changed yellowish red except Hanji and linen mordanted with Fe. 2. K/S values of dyed samples with Green tea increased by the number of dyeing treatment(p<.01). 3. UVA and UVB blocking rate increased by the number of dyes. Cotton and Linen could block the UV radiation over $93\%$ and Hanji could block over $95\%$ after three times of dyeing. These results suggest that Hanji has possibility far various practical uses of clothing material in beautiful and functional aspect. It could have the biological effects when we put on dyed clothing material with Green tea.

  • As UV radiation to the earth increased over recent years, many adverse effects of UV radiation have been reported. There are needs to develop UV-protective apparel and accessaries to protect skin from these harmful effects. Cellulose is one of the most frequently worn fiber during summer time. However, celllulose shows very low UV-protective property especially in case of thin and low fabric content. In this study, UV-protective cellulose textiles were developed using chiotsan mordanting and green tea dyeing. The repetition effect of chitosan and green tea treatment were focused. Three different cellulose fibers, cotton, linen, and ramie, were used for this study. All chitosan mordanted and green tea dyed fabrics showed increases in UV-protective property. The color of fabrics tended to darker as the numbers of mordanting process and green tea dyeing increased. UV-protective property did not increase significantly upon the repetition of mordanting and green tea dyeing treatment except ramie fabric. UV protective property was persisted upon washfastness test in all three cellulose fiber types.

  • The influence of ultraviolet(UV)-ray in sun light on human skin has been noted. Textiles can provide protection against harmful UV-radiation. Normally UV-absorbing finishes are used to get better protection. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the UV-cut properties of cotton fabrics treated with UV-absorber. 2,2-dihydroxy-4,4-dimethoxbenzophenone, as UV-absorber was applied to 100% cotton fabric. Reagents added in finishing solution were Triton X-100, polyethylene glycol 400, and $MgCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$, and C.I. Direct Red 81. Both untreated and treated cotton fabrics were exposed to a xenon arc lamp for 20 and 80 hours. UV absorption spectra of finishing solutions and UV transmission spectra of fabrics were measured by the UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. Absorption and the related transmission spectra were modified in a controlled way with UV-absorber. Absorption effect of UV-absorber was improved by adding Triton X-100, PEG 400, and $MgCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ in finishing solution. The UV absorption of finishing solution was in the following order: U/D/T/P/M>D/T/P/M> D/T> D/P, D>U/T/P/M>U/T>T/P/M>T. The UV transmittance of cotton fabrics was remarkably decreased by the application of UV-absorber and additives. The UV-cut properties were most improved by the application of U/D/T/P/M.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the adsorption rate, adsorption quantities and the UV-Cut effects of cotton fabrics treated with several UV absorbents. The result of this study were as follows: cotton fabric treated with 2,2'-dihydroxy-4- methoxy-benzophenone shows more efficient than ones treated with 4-aminobenzoic acid and 2·hydroxy-1, 4-naphthoquinone in UV absorption. This may be due to the absorption of UV light by formation of intra moleculaar hydrogen bond. The formation of hydrogen bonds between hydrogen atoms of two hydroxy groups and one oxygen atom of carboxyl group in 2, 2'-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-benzophenone would be easier than that of the other absorbents. The adsorption isotherms of 4-aminobenzoic acid and 2-hydroxy-1, 4-naphthoquinone were similar to Freundlich type, while that of 2, 2'-Dihydroxy-4-methoxy-benzophenone was Henry type. Cotton fabrics treated with Antifade MC-100 and W Cut I-2 were just alike in UV absorption, but Antifade 8001 was inferior to the others.

자외선 차단 의복에 대한 소비자 조사 -아웃도어 스포츠웨어를 중심으로- (A Study on UV Protective Clothing - An Emphasis on Outdoor Sports Consumers -)

  • The objective of this study was to determine factors affecting sun protective behavior and intention to buy UV protective clothing among outdoor sport persons in Korea. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to mountain climbers, bikers and in-line skaters with a convenience sampling method. Two theoretical frameworks, health belief(HB) model and diffusion theory(DT) were used for the study. Based on HB model, sun protection behaviors(SPBs) were associated with cancer perception, perceived benefits, behavioral barriers and cues to actions based on the HB model. Based on DT model, intention to buy (ITB) was determined by an individual's perceived attributes of UV protective shirt. Appearance concern variables were added to the extended HB model. The extended DT model was proposed by adding the variables in the HB model and variables of appearance concern. Multiple regression analysis was applied. Results were as follows. First, perceived benefits, behavioral barriers, cues to action, and all three appearance concern variables as well as gender and age were significant determinants of SPB for Korean outdoor consumers. Second, relative advantage, compatibility, friability, behavioral barriers and cues to action with some appearance concern variables were significant in affecting intention to buy UV protective clothes. Extended HB model and extended DT model were useful to understand SPBs of Korean outdoor consumers.

천연염재의 자외선 차단성능 연구

직물의 자외선차단과 세포에 미치는 방호효과 (Protection Effects of Summer Fabrics from Cell Toxicity of UVB)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate a transmittance rate of UVB (Ultraviolet B) through summer fabrics and a protection rate of summer fabric from UVB. The subjects were randomly selected 159 fabrics from Korean common summer fabrics. The protection rates of 159 fabrics from UVB were measured by UVB lamp and UVB sensor, and 14 fabrics among these fabrics were selected for an assay of MTT(3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2, 5 -diphenyltetrazolium). The protection rate of fabrics from cell toxicity of UVB was measured by investigating the difference of the amount of cell toxic substance on between fabrics covered with and without HeLa cell The average protection rate of 159 fabrics from UVB was 95.08%. As result findings, three negative correlations were found between: 1) the transmittance rate of UVB and the amount of MTT on fabrics (y=0.0373+0.O0518 x, r=-0.9323, p<0.001); 2) the air permeability of fabrics and the amount of MTT (r: -0.79, p< 0.01); 3) the air permeability of fabrics and the protection rate of fabrics from UVB (r=0.89, p<0.01). However, there was no effect of thickness of fabrics on the protection rate from UVB and the amount of MTT.

자외선 흡수제 처리 시 은나노/수지 첨가가 면직물의 기능성에 미치는 영향 (Effect on Functional Properties of the Cotton Fabrics Treated by UV-absorbers with Nanosilver/DMDHEU Treatment)

  • Silver ions or silver nanoparticles have multi-functional properties. The cotton fabrics for providing multi-functional properties were treated with a nanosilver powder, UV-absorbers, and dimethyloldi-hydroxyethyleneurea (DMDHEU) alone and mixed solution. The physical properties, UV protection, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties of treated cotton fabrics were evaluated. The results were as a follows. The UV protection of cotton fabrics were increased by the application of a nanosilver and Uv-absorbers mixture. The UV protection of treated fabrics were improved by nanosilver/DMDHEU/UV-absorbers mixed solution. The wrinkle recovery properties of fabrics treated with DMDHEU and nanosilver improved. The stiffness of fabrics are decreased by a nanosilver/DMDHEU/UV-absorbers mixed solution. The antibacterial properties of the fabrics treated with nanosilver/DMDHEU/UV-absorbers mixed solution is 99.99%. The functional properties of cotton fabrics are shown to be better with aanosilver/DMDHEU/UV-absorbers mixed than treated with nanosilver alone.

자외선 차단 소재 개발을 위한 전기방사 TiO2 복합나노섬유의 제조 및 특성 (Fabrication and Evaluation of Electrospun TiO2 Nanocomposite Fibers for the Development of UV-protective Textile Materials)

  • This study investigates applying $TiO_2$ (titanium dioxide) nanoparticles to polypropylene nonwoven fabrics via electrospinning for the development of UV-protective materials. To fabricate uniform nanocomposite fibers, three types of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were applied: powder, colloid, and $TiO_2$ coated polymer pellets. $TiO_2$/polyurethane (PU) and $TiO_2$/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanocomposite fibers were electrospun and the morphology was examined using a field-emission scanning electron microscope and a transmission electron microscope. Layered fabric systems with electrospun $TiO_2$ nanocomposite fiber webs were developed at various concentrations of $TiO_2$ in a range of the web area density. The effects of $TiO_2$ concentration and web area density on UV-protective properties were examined. When $TiO_2$ colloid was added into a PVA polymer solution, uniform nanocomposite fiber webs in which $TiO_2$ particles were evenly dispersed were produced. Water-soluble PVA nanofiber webs were given a heat treatment to stabilize the electrospun PVA fibrous structure against dissolution in water. $TiO_2$/PVA nanoeomposite fiber webs with 2wt% $TiO_2$ and 3.0g/$m^2$ web area density exhibited an ultraviolet protection factor of greater than 50, indicating excellent UV protection.
