Lately, in public libraries, there are various service programs for child user by corresponding to importance of reading based education and also a variety of changes by accommodating family based cultural life style. Therefore there is a need for space planning based study on unit-data room. This study gives guide-line of space planning through categorizing of space plot and furniture lay-out in child data room. The researcher, as a first step, searched web sites of 29 data rooms of 26 libraries and summarized space plots and features of data rooms through in-person visits. Then the author made a categorization standard and did a general analysis of featured data rooms through multiple categorization steps. There are Basic Type, General Type, Book-Shelf Centered Type, Book-shelf Scattered type and Multi-Functional Type out of this categorization steps. In sum, six categorizing bases, dividing infant room from child room, space zonning, position of entrance, compactness of reading space, position of book-shelf and orientation of book-shelf will be important design standards for child data-room of future libraries and an effective guide-lines for other unit data-rooms.

The effectiveness of the library operation with the least volume is to bring the same amount of utility as the library operating with the largest volume. The major objectives of this study are to evaluate the library collection of Library and Information Division, Korea Rural Economic Institute, the sample library, by the fields and areas of research, and to prepare an alternative for future library collection of KREI. In order to accomplish these objectives, use studies, relative use method, list-checking, and questionaries were used for the analysis.

The present study aims to develop measures to enhance user service at Chungnam Representative Library by establishing Chungnam Representative Library Operation Master Plan. To this end, I conducted a literature review, analysis of services of other representative libraries, and a survey. The study results suggested six measures for user service enhancement. The first measure is space-specific programs, such as children's materials room, general materials room, electronic materials room, auditorium, multipurpose room, outdoor stage, exhibition room, and book café. The second measure is the services specific user types, such as children, adolescents, adults, the disabled, and multicultural families. The third measure is information service specific for information type, such as print material service and digital material service. The fourth measure is the service for the Information-Poor including the expansion of mobile library service, the service for information users in special environment, and the development of mobile library rules. Fifth measure is information service for Chungcheongnam-do residents, such as Baekje Studies specialized service that incorporates local characteristics, specialized information service for Chungcheong Studies and local materials, and information service for administrative and policy materials. The last measure is the measure to secure initial users and early stage service enhancement.

In this study, we tried to provide basic materials necessary for introduction of smart libraries by analyzing present conditions of its operation based on the actual conditions of digital materials. For this study, a survey of actual use of digital materials is conducted for digital material rooms of public libraries in nationwide and 213 persons in charge of digital materials. As a result of this study, the followings are found: first, 80.8% of those public libraries responding to the survey operate digital material rooms and average 1.75 person is in charge of managing digital materials and open type Wi-Fis are installed in those public libraties but only 11.3% of those libraries provide 5G services; second, it is found that the digital data which are owned by those public libraries most are video contents (63.8%), e-books (53.5%) and audio books (53.5%) in order. In addition average number of types of audio books 781, video contents 4,985, nonbook contents except for video 3,616 and other digital data 626. This study is a basic research for introduction of smart library and it is necessary to conduct another study of a plan for future revitalization of digital materials and librarians' awareness on introduction of smart library.

본지는 대한인쇄문화협회가 지난해 조성한 인쇄역사문화관 개관을 기념해 인쇄업계 경영인 2세들을 초청, 지난 1월8일 문화관 자료실에서 '정보화시대의 인쇄'라는 주제로 특별좌담되를 개최했다. 이날 좌담회에는 신원인쇄사(대표 김정숙) 김승효이사, 홍일문화인쇄사(회장 이연지) 장원혁실장, 성문인쇄사(대표 장현수) 장완호대리, 대양인쇄사(대표 양기성) 양종호과장, 홍보컴(대표 이광옥) 이지훈실장이 참석했으며 본지 유창준 국장의 사회로 진행됐다. 이날 좌담회 참석자는 디지털시대와 코드가 맞는 40대 이하이면서도 입사 기간이 10년이내인 경영인 2세들로 범위를 한정했다.

지난해에는 문화관광부의 '도서관정보화추진계획'에 따른 전국 공공도서관과 학교도서관의 디지털자료실 설치, 공공도서관 자료구입비 증액 지원, 3개 도교육청의 사서교사 채용 시험 실시, 각 종 언론과 방송에서의 독서 프로그램 편성 확대 등 도서관 발전을 위한 각계 각층의 관심이 활발한 한 해였다. 하지만 여전히 진행되고 있는 도서관 명칭변경, 민간위탁의 문제와 날로 심화되어 가고 있는 사서직 고용불안정 현상 등은 우리 도서관계가 올 한 해도 피할 수 없는 숙제로 남아 있다. 바야흐로 21세기가 본 궤도에 오른 2002년 새해를 맞아, 그 어느 때보다도 도서관의 사회적 역할이 증대되고 있는 지금, 우리 도서관계 각 단체의 올 한해 각오와 사업방향 등을 알아보았다.

인터넷 이용 확산에 따라 학교 현장에서 교과의 특성이나 상황에 따라 학생들이 작성한 과제물을 홈페이지 자료실, E-mail, FTP 등을 이용하여 제출 받고 평가하는 사례가 늘어나고 있다. 이는 과제물의 공개, 과제물 수용 용량의 부족 현상, 평가에 따르는 불편함, 과제물을 또 다른 정보로 재활용 할 수 없는 문제 등을 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 XML에 기반을 둔 문제은행형 과제 제출 시스템을 설계함으로써 학생들의 학습 성취도를 향상시키고, 교사의 과제물 평가의 불편함을 해소하며, 제출된 과제물들을 유용한 정보로 재사용 하는 방법을 제시한다.
