  • This paper presents a new method of segmenting a one-dimensional signal into a set of features of type(line, Vee-groove, Lap-joint and etc.), A set of requirements for the segmentation process result from the application area, which in this case are laser welding, GMAW(Gas Metal Arc Welding), SAW(Submerged Arc Welding) and high speed tack welding. The algorithm is able to detect an exact welding position in the presence of noise and missing data, yet is reasonably economical to implement

  • Non Destructive Examination for welds is one of the most important processes to ensure the integrity of facilities of Nuclear power plants. An automated ultrasonic testing program is developed for welding inspection. A test block with side EDM notch is inspected with this program. This paper shows that the developed automated ultrasonic testing program is quite effective.

  • At the present, a stud bolt welding was achieved by the manual method. The manual method caused many problems of work evasion. In order to work out these problems, an automatic welding system is designed for a stud bolt welding system. The system is composed of articulated type welding robot, stud gun, stud feeder, stud controller and various jig.

  • Quality estimation of the weld has been one of the important issues in RSW which is a main process of the sheet metal fabrication in auto-body industry. It was well known that among the various welding process variables, dynamic resistance has a close relation with nugget formation. In this study, a new quality estimation algorithm is developed with the primary dynamic resistance measured at welding machine timer. For this, Back propagation algorithm of neural network is used.

  • 증기발생기 전열관 보수를 위하여 sleeve pipe를 삽입하여 레이저 용접을 하는 과정에서 전열관과 sleeve pipe 의 간격을 최소한으로 줄여 용접 품질을 높이고, 균등하게 하기 위하여 sleeve pipe에 대하여 확관이 수행된다. 확관은 sleeve pipe의 상단부와 하단부에 각각 수행되는데 정확한 확관규격을 유지하기 위하여 컴퓨터로 확관압력의 미분치를 비교분석하여 압력펌프를 제어하였다. 압력신호의 변화가 크고 안정되지 못하여 전후신호와 비교분석하여 안정화시킨 후 미분치를 추출하여 제어함으로써 전열관의 확관이 0.02mm 이내가 되도록 하여 전열관의 과도한 확관을 방지하였다.

퍼지필터와 ART2를 이용한 선박용 용접기술개발 (A Studying on Gap Sensing using Fuzzy Filter and ART2)

  • Welding is essential for the manufacture of a range of engineering components which may vary from very large structures such as ships and bridges to very complex structures such as aircraft engines, or miniature components for microelectronic applications. Especially, a domestic situation of the welding automation is still depend on the arc sensing system in comparison to the vision sensing system. Specially, the gap-detecting of workpiece using conventional arc sensor is proposed in this study. As a same principle, a welding current varies with the size of a welding gap. This study introduce to the fuzzy membership filter to cancel a high frequency noise of welding current, and ART2 which has the competitive learning network classifies the signal patterns the filtered welding signal. A welding current possesses a specific pattern according to the existence or the size of a welding gap. These specific patterns result in different classification in comparison with an occasion for no welding gap. The patterns in each case of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and no welding gap are identified by the artificial neural network.

  • Conventionally, SMAW process was applied to join pipes of RCL, which caused lot of loss in time and cost due to excessive heat input and defects in joining section. Recently, narrow-gap welding(NGW) process was introduced to overcome the disadvantages of SMAW. However, the application of NGW to nuclear power plant is not yet common because safety of NGW process is not proven. In present paper, the welded coupons are made of carbon steel. They are manufactured under different processes; general welding(GW), post-weld heat treatment(PWHT) after GW, repair welding after GW and PWHT with repair welding after GW in carbon steel. Performed are various mechanical tests investigation of microstructure, hardness test, tensile test at room and high temperature, bending test, impact test and J-R test. It is verified that the mechanical properties of carbon steel are greatly changed after repair welding process due to applied heat flux, and that the effect of PWHT is beneficial.

토치 회전식 자동용접 시스템의 용접공정변수 최적선정 (Optimum-selection in the Welding Process Variable for Torch-rotation Method of Automation Welding-machine System)

  • The purpose of this welding process of the exclusive welding-machine using welding torch-rotation type is to develop a mechanism which can solve the problem of twisting of welding wires and cables. The technique was developed by revising the torch position and smooth controlling of both the normal and reverse rotation. Some of the advantages of using the torch-rotation type apply to the work-rotation technique are the practical uses of increased work space and link work with the factory automation system. Do apply the welding process, I designed and made a special unit so called torch part in order to solve the problems of kinematical. And I made a control panel which can manipulate the progress of the entire process at the work shop. Even if it will be applied to another kind of axle casing's welding work, this process can be utilized if other sizes of the fixed pin and work part is produced and changed. The development of this exclusive welding-machine could reduce the manpower of skilled welding labor and increase productivity and better quality product in comparison to the handmade product.
