A Study on Effect of Vibration Reduction with Ballast Mat of Ballasted Track in Tunnel (터널내 자갈도상제도의 자갈도상매트 시공 후 진동 저감 효과에 대한 연구)

  • Due to the travelling of the train with high speed the period of maintenance activities of the ballasted track is coming to be short, and more from the residential area of the ballasted track tunnel circumference the civil appeal is increasing with railroad vibration problem. To reduce the vibration problem and a maintenance cost establishes the ballast mat in the tunnel within part segment. In this study, to estimate the vibration reduction effect of the ballast mat we have done a comparative analysis with the vibration field test by the transit train by at the ballasted track with ballast mat and the standard ballasted track without vibration protection in tunnel.

A Study on the Hydraulic Characteristics for River Bed Revetments using Mattress (하상보호용 매트리스의 수리학적 특성 연구)

  • The condition of initial movement for the river bed revetment using rip rap is a limit condition beyond which the lining is progressively destroyed as the separate elements are removed by the flow. In the case of the river bed revetment using mattress, however, after the initial movement the containment offered by the mesh remains. A new situation of equilibrium with a deformed river bed revetment using mattress is obtained, allowing it to withstand more severe conditions without compromising the resistance and without further bed deformation. Shield's coefficient for the river bed revetment using mattress is twice the value of that for the river bed revetment using rip rap. This means that with the same hydraulic behavior conditions, the average dimension of the rocks to be used in the river bed revetment using mattress is half that of the river bed revetment using rip rap rock. When the same size rocks are used the allowable velocity for the river bed revetment using mattress is more than twice, even as much as 3 or 4 times that for the river bed revetment using rip rap.

Integrated Superstructure Design of Elastic Components to Improve the Track Performance (궤도의 성능향상을 위한 탄성구성요소로 통합된 상부구조 설계)

  • Track elastic components can be technically and economically efficient when integrated well into track superstructure of a railway network. In such cases, the elastic rail pad is larger than a 800m radius curve provides smooth rail branching and allows for high-speed operation ($V{\geq}160km/h$). High track resistance causes the tamping intervals to stand out because the constantly increasing share of the sleeper pad further extends the increase of the tamping interval and the long grinding period; the engineering and construction of the small curve radius track provides some measures for reducing the solid sounds. Installation of elastic mats under the ballast can have a good effect, particularly in the context of protection against dust during construction or extensive renovation measures when laying new lines. However, such a process requires special attention and proper installation.

Stress transfer mechanism of ballast bed using DEM (Discrete Element Method) (DEM을 이용한 자갈도상의 응력분포에 관한 연구)

  • Ballast is an important component of railway track structures. The granular ballast can be modelled using [mite or discrete element methods. The DE method has advantages to enable us to analyze the microstructure of granular materials and to exhibit information which cannot be assessed using FE methods. In this paper, sleeper, the ballast, and ballast mat in the high-speed railroad line are modelled using two-dimensional discrete circle and line elements. The stress transferred from the sleeper via the ballast to the subgrade is analyzed. In addition, the shape and angle of stress distribution of ballast bed is evaluated with different boundary conditions for the high-speed railroad line.

  • Geotextile is one of the most useful and effective polymer material in civil construction works and the main function of geotextile is separation, reinforcement, filtering and drainage. Recently, because of the shortage of natural rock, traditional forms of river and coastal structures have become very expensive to build and maintain. Therefore, the materials used in hydraulic and coastal structures are changing from the traditional rubble and concrete systems to the cheaper materials and systems. One of these alternatives employs geotextile tube technology in the construction of coastal and shore protection structures, such as embankment, see dyke, groins, jetties, detached breakwaters and so on. Geotextile tube technology has changed from being an alternative construction technique and, in fact, has advanced to become the most effective solution of choice. This paper presents case history of sea dyke filter construction using geotextile tube mattress and also, various issues related to the tube mattress design and construction technology.

  • In high-speed line, at some part of the track which rubber ballast-mat installed, track irregularity grew rapidly and affected riding comfort and train running stability. It is urgently requested to establish counter-measures which can be applied to track under operation. To do this, it is very important to analysis the origin of that phenomenon before. Track support stiffness is an essential factor for evaluating track condition. Sudden changes of support stiffness along track occur instability of train and bad riding comfort. Preventing sudden changes of track support stiffness is a key technique in high-speed track maintenance. Besides the sudden changes, the magnitude itself also significantly affects track and train. Low stiffness of ballast-mat makes ballast acceleration area wider. And it may accelerate track irregularity growth. So, the stiffness should be limited. To calculate track stiffness, measuring load and displacement on track is needed. In this study, the behavior of the track which rubber ballast-mat installed was measured and analyzed to understand the origin of rapid growth of it.

  • In the case of the railway bridge, there are following the progress of works after the drainage method of a bridge surface - vibration proof rubber establishment, track gravel construction and rail construction etc. But these works are not enforced consecutively by the execution and economical reason. This is the reason of the long period of exposure after drainage execution. In many case, from the deterioration phenomenon by long term exposure of surface, there are a lot of occasions that do not keep primitive penetration depth waterproof primitive time. It is the most important that select the drainage method that have durability - it is not fallen in long-term exposure of surface. The major objective of this study is to deduce objective analysis result through examination about the Deterioration Restraining Agent method and to master KNOW-HOW of DRA drainage method. Through the study, minimize economical damage by frequent repair and reinforcement and present the reasonable standard of judgement fot drainage method of construction.

  • Stone columns is the ground improvement method which composed of compacted gravel or crushed stone inserted into the soft ground consisting of loose sand and clay. There are many difficulties in quantitative analysis of soil-pile interaction because settlement behavior of stone columns is affected by various parameters. In this study, various parameters of behavior of end-bearing group piles are investigated by load tests. Finally, the improved characteristics of soft ground and the influence of design parameters are investigated in this study using PR (performance ratio) value. From the PR value calculation and test results, we know that settlement behavior of stone columns is affected by area replacement ratio of composite ground, diameter of column rather than embedment ratio and mat.

  • 호안 Mattress/Filter는 철망구조 내에 채움재를 채운 다공성 구조로서 다양한 크기의 채움재를 사용할 수 있고 이로 인하여 다양한 공극을 형성할 수 있다. 이러한 Mattress/Filter의 다공성 구조는 통수성을 증가시키기 때문에 호안부에서 흐름의 에너지 및 유속을 감소시키며, 이로 인해서 소류력이 감소되어 호안의 침식을 완화시킨다. 또한 Mattress/filter에 사용되는 채움재는 자갈, 폐콘크리트 및 슬래그를 사용하기 때문에 표면이 거칠고 조도계수가 증가하게 되며, 호안에서의 조도계수의 증가는 유속의 감소와 소류력 감소를 가져온다. 한편 Mattress/Filter가 시공되고 수개월이 경과되어 식생발달 및 안정화가 이루어진 후에는 식생과 Mattress/Filter가 일체화되며, Mattress/Filter와 식생에 의해 조도계수의 증가 및 유속감소의 효과가 더욱 커지면서 결과적으로 소류력 감소효과는 증가하게 된다. Mattress/Filter의 다공성 구조는 호안의 통수성 및 조도계수를 증가시켜 호안부의 유속 및 소류력을 감소시키기 때문에 침식 및 식생유실을 완화시키게 된다. 시공 초기 식생이 발달하기 전에 복토된 토양의 유실 우려가 있을 경우 Mattress/Filter의 표면에 토양유실방지매트를 설치하여 복토된 토양이 유수에 의해 침식되는 현상을 방지할 수 있다. Mattress/Filter 시공후 수개월이 경과한 뒤에는 식생이 발달하여 유속 및 소류력 저감효과가 더욱 증가하며, 이로 인해서 더욱 안정된 식생군락을 형성시킬 수 있었다.

Hydraulic Model Test on Local Scour Protecting around Bridge Piers with TTG Blocks (TTG블록의 교각국부세굴에 대한 수리모형 성능평가)

  • TTG-blocks are concrete blocks designed to be paved around the bridge piers in order to protect the channel bed from local scour. In this study roughness coefficient of T.T.G- blocks are investigated through the hydraulic model test. And critical safety weight of TTG-blocks is derived in terms of Reynolds number for each individual block and group of linked blocks. Flume experiments show that a performance of TTG-blocks is effective to protect the river channel bed from local scour at bridge piers if it is assessed using with geotextile mat under blocks or designated gravels for filling in holes of blocks.
