Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBAX$_{(R)}$) resin is a thermoplastic elastomer combining linear chains of hard-rigid polyamide block interspaced soft-flexible polyether block. It was believed that the hard polyamide block provides the mechanical strength and permselectivity, whereas gas transport occurs primarily through the soft polyether block. The objective of this work was to investigate the gas permeation properties of carbon dioxide and methane for PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane, and compare with those obtained for other grade of pure PEBAX$^{(R)}$, PEBAX$^{(R)}$-2533 and PEBAX$^{(R)}$ based hybrid membranes. The hybrid membranes based PEBAX$^{(R)}$ were obtained by a sol-gel process using GPTMS ((3-glycidoxypropyl) trimethoxysilane) as the only inorganic precursor. Molecular structure and morphology of membrane were analyzed by $^{29}Si$-NMR, DSC and SEM. PEBAX$_{(R)}$-2533 membrane exhibited higher gas permeability coefficients than PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane. This was explained by the increase of chain mobility. In contrast, ideal separation factor of $CO_2/CH_4$ for PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane was higher than PEBAX$^{(R)}$-2533 membrane. It was explained by the decrease of diffusion selectivity caused by increase of chain mobility. For PEBAX$^{(R)}$/GPTMS hybrid membrane, gas permeability coefficients were decreased with reaction time. Gas permeability coefficient of $CH_4$ was more significantly decreased than $CO_2$. It can be explained by the reduction of chain mobility caused by the sol-gel process, and strong affinity of PEO segment with $CO_2$. Comparing with pure PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane, ideal separation factor of $CO_2/CH_4$ for PEBAX$^{(R)}$/GPTMS hybrid membrane has decreased to 4.5%, and gas permeability coefficient of $CO_2$ has increased 3.5 times.
Background : Since up to 90% of a theophylline dose is biotransformed, probably by interaction with one or more the variants of the cytochrome P-450 drug metabolism system, anti-tuberculosis agents including drugs influencing microsomal enzyme systems, such as isoniazid and rifampicin. may be affect the elimination of theophylline. Method : The effect of combination therapy with isoniazid(INH), rifampicin(RFP), ethambutol(EMB) and pyrazinamide(PZA) on the pharmacokinetics of theophylline was evaluated by a computer program using Bayesian method. Three group were divided as follows. Group I is control, Group II is treated with INH. RFP, EMB and PZA and Group III is treated with INH, RFP and EMB. All of them were ilon-smoker who were normal in liver and renal functions, and not administered drugs affecting on the clearance of theophylline with exception of anti-tuberculous agents. Results : When it compared control with test groups, the clearance of theophylline in Group II and Group III was significantly decreased(p<0.001), and half life in Group II and Group III showed significant elevation(p<0.001). However there were no significant differences in clearance and half life between the Group II and Group III. Conclusion : These results suggest that theophylline dose may be need of readjustment in concurrent medication of anti-tuberculous agents including INH, RFP, and EMB.

Several studies have shown that phytol isolated from perilla leaf and small water dropwort (Oenanthe javanica (BL) D.C., wild type) extract reveal antirumor activities. In the present study we investigated the effect of phytol and the small water dropwort extract on the T subset in the sarcoma 180-transplanted mice in order to elucidate the immunological mechanism of antiturmor activity of these substances. The results obtained from the experiment were as follows : When phytol was injected into the sarcoma-180 transplanted mice (control), the levels of T cell and T subset by inoculation of the tumor cells were enhanced, but that of T cells in case of small water dropwort extract was similar to the control. Asialo GM1$^{+}$ cells were increased when phytol or small water dropwort extract with injected into tumor-transplanted mice. In normal mice the number of asialo GM1$^{+}$ cells increased with phytol injection and decreased with small water dropwort extract injection. L3T4$^{+}$/Lyt-2$^{+}$cell ratios were decreased when phytol was injected into tumor-transplanted mire, but increased in case of small water dropwort extract injection. In normal mice the ratios showed large decreases with phytol or small water dropwort extract injection. These results indicate that phytol or small water dropwort extract ran activate the proliferation of natural killer cells that are effector cells in tumor-bearing mice.

Cortex Mori radicis has been used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. In this study, the antihyperglycemic effect of Cortex Mori radicis was observed in obese diabetic mice(C57BLKsJ db/db). Cold water extract of Cortex Mori radicis was supplied in tab water(500, 1000 mg/kg/day) with normal chow for 5 weeks. Food intake and body weight gain were decreased significantly in experimental group. Also experimental group exhibited lower fasting serum glucose level when compaired to control group. Hb Alc level and triglyceride level were lowered in a dose-dependent manner. The activity of small intestinal disaccharidases was decreased at most segments. In conclusion, Cortex Mori radicis has anti-obesity effect to reduce food intake and body weight gain. And it is able to decrease the activity of small intestinal disaccharides and thus it can reduce serum glucose level and triglyceride level.
The aim of this study was to evaluate prospectively the impact of the red ginseng extract on circulating interleukin (IL) 2 and 10 in advanced gastric cancer during chemotherapy after operative treatment. Analysis of circulating IL-2 and 10 was performed in 50 patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma who underwent a curative surgery or with an unresectable gastric adenocarcinoma by using ELISA and monoclonal antibodies at preoperative day 1, postoperative months 1, and 3. Twenty-five patients as the control group, twenty-six patients as the non-ginseng (NG) group, and twenty-four patients as the ginseng (G) group were eligible in this study. All plasma IL-2 of the NG and G groups was significantly lower an that of the control group on preoperative 1 day. These values of the G group were more increase than these of the NG group during the postoperative chemotherapy. The mean value of serum IL-10 of the control group (0.608pg/ml) was significantly lower than that of the advanced gastric cancer patients including the NG (12.015 pg/ml) and G group (9.409 pg/ml) (p<0.001). These values of the G group were reduced progressively during the postoperative chemotherapy. The mesh value of the G group were only close to that of the control group on postoperative months 3 (p=0.003). The number of patients who were enrolled in this study was relatively small to fully evaluate the immunologic effects of the red ginseng extract on circulating IL-2 and 10. Despite this limitation, these results suggest that the post-operative intake of the red ginseng extract have potential to improve earlier anti-cancer immunity with recovering IL-2 and reducing IL-10 from the depressed IL-2 and elevated IL-10 by gastric cancer during the postoperative chemotherapy. This study will be based on the future study to evaluate the anti-immunity of the red ginseng extract.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of BCAA and additional OKG or albumin supplementation on energy metabolism and hormone changes in prolonged submaximal exercise. The subjects of this study were 5 male college students, and they took participated in each experiment. In each experiment (control, BCAA, BCAA+OKG, BCAA+albumin), the subject ran for 90 minutes on the treadmill. Blood was drawn and analyzed as glucose, FFA, ammonia, growth hormone, insulin, cortisol, $T_3$, and $T_4$. The obtained results were analyzed via two-way repeated ANOVA using SPSS program. A value of p<.05 was considered statistically significant. The concentration of glucose was the lowest in the BCAA supplement group, and there was significant difference between times of exercise (p<.05). In concentration of FFA, there was a significant difference between times of exercise and supplemented groups (p<.05). The concentration of blood ammonia was the lowest in the BCAA+albumin supplement group, and was the highest in the BCAA supplement group. Concentration of growth hormone, cortisol, $T_3$ and $T_4$ were increased as exercise progressed and decreased after all exercise. But concentration of insulin was decreased as exercise progressed. In these results, BCAA and additional OKG or albumin supplement with BCAA may make better effect to the increasing energy generation and inhibiting protein degradation during prolonged submaximal exercise.
Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBA, $PEBAX^{TM}$) resin is a thermoplastic elastomer combining linear chains of hard-rigid polyamide block interspaced soft-flexible polyether block. It was believed that the hard polyamide block provides the mechanical strength and permeation selectivity, whereas gas transport occurs primarily through the soft polyether block. The objective of this work was to investigate the gas permeation properties of carbon dioxide and methane for $PEBAX^{TM}$-1657 membrane and compare with those obtained for other grade of $PEBAX^{TM}$, $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533. And the organic/inorganic hybrid membranes were prepared using $PEBAX^{TM}$ and TEOS(tetraethoxysilane) by sol-gel process, and gas permeation properties were studied. $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533 membrane exhibited higher gas permeability coefficients than $PEBAX^{TM}$-1657 membrane. This was explained by the increase of chain mobility. The permeability coefficients for $PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS hybrid membranes were higher than pure $PEBAX^{TM}$ membranes. This results were explained by the reduction of crystallinity of polyamide block by the introduction of TEOS. Ideal separation factor of hybrid membranes does not change much. This might be due to the increase of solubility selectivity.

Recently, with the rapid increase in technology and users of smart devices, the smart watch market has grown, and its utility and usability are continuously expanding. The strengths of smartwatches are wearable portability, application immediacy, data diversity and real-time capability. Despite these strengths, smartwatches have limitations such as battery limitations, display and user interface size limitations, and memory limitations. In addition, there is a need to supplement developers and standard devices, operating system standard models, and killer application modules. In particular, monitoring and application of user's biometric information is becoming a major service for smart watches. The biometric information of such a smart watch generates a large amount of data in real time. In order to advance the biometric information service, stable peer-to-peer transmission of sensing data to a remote smartphone or local server storage must be performed. We propose a synchronization method to ensure wireless remote peer-to-peer transmission stability in a smart watch system. We design a wireless peer-to-peer transmission process based on this synchronization method, analyze asynchronous transmission process and proposed synchronous transmission process, and propose a transmission efficiency method according to an increase in transmission amount.
We conducted this study to investigate the morphological characteristics and physiological effects of mulberry leaves and fruits with wild varieties. Morphologically sampling materials were showed Morus bombycis type and Morus alba type characteristics. Water contents of mulberry fruits were higher than that of mulberry leaves. Sugar degree of sampling materials was 5.1∼22.7 Brix %. The yield of 85% MeOH extract from freezing dried Mulberry Fruits was 60.2% and Hexane, BuOH and H$_2$O fraction from MeOH extract were 2.8%, 4.6%, 92.3% respectively. In the cholesterol-induced hyperlipidemia rats administered with subfraction of mulberry fruit extract, total cholesterol and serum triglyceride were decreased in the MeOH extract group and H$_2$O soluble fraction group. Also H$_2$O soluble fraction group decreased GPT, GOT and LDH level. Therefore, the above results suggested that mulberry fruit with wild varieties can help to maintain normal liver functions and to protect hyperlipidemia.
This study was performed to observe the effect of hot-water extracts from garlic and 13 kinds of medicinal plants composites (GMP) on hyperlipidemia and hepatoprotective activity in rats administered with alcohol. Male Sprague-Dawly rats were fed an AIN-93 diet (Normal), a normal diet plus ethanol (control, 10 ml of 40% ethanoljkgjday), a control diet plus 0.5% garlic and 1.0% medicinal plants composites extracts (GMP-I), and a control diet plus 1.0% garlic and medicinal plants composites extracts (GMP-II) for 7 days. Blood glucose was higher than the control, but it was markedly decreased in the GMP-II group. Elevation total lipids, cholesterol, triglyceride and phospholipids in serum were markedly decreased in rats fed with GMP-I. GMP-II also inhibited the increase of lipid content in serum. Activities of GOT, GPT, $\gamma$-GTP and ALP in serum elevated by alcohol were significantly inhibited in the GMP group. TBARS content of serum was significantly decreased in GMP groups administered with garlic and medicinal plant extracts. Extracts of garlic and medicinal plants play an important role in recovering liver function in rats from alcohol induced damage.
