This study was conducted to investigate the levels of academic stress, ego-resilience, and health promoting behaviors of nursing students, and to examine the relationship between these variables. The participants were 208 nursing students(freshman/sophomore). Data were collected from April 3 to April 21, 2017 by self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 19.0 program(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The results of this study were as follows: the mean academic stress score was $3.17{\pm}0.55$, ego-resilience was $2.70{\pm}0.38$, and health promoting behaviors was $2.47{\pm}0.32$. There were significant differences in health promoting behaviors based on residence status, satisfaction with major, satisfaction with school life and health status. There was a negative correlation between health promoting behaviors and academic stress(r=-0.36, p=0.000), while there was a positive correlation between health promoting behaviors and ego-resilience(r=0.60, p=0.000). Variables such as ego-resilience, academic stress, satisfaction with school life, residence status, health status and satisfaction with major explained 43.3% of the variance in health promoting behaviors. Based on these results, it is necessaryto develop interventions and programs to reduce academic stress and increase ego-resilience to improve health promotion in nursing students.
Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a self-management program using goal setting for patients after a stroke. The program was based on a theory-based Goal setting and Action Planning framework (G-AP), and the effectiveness of the program was examined. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The experimental group (n=30) received the self-management program using goal setting based on the G-AP over 7 weeks. The education was delivered individually with a specifically designed stroke workbook. The control group (n=30) received only patient information leaflets about stroke. Results: There were significant differences between the two groups. Stroke knowledge, self-efficacy, and health behavior compliance were significantly higher (all p<.001), and hospital anxiety (p<.001) and depression (p<.001) were significantly lower in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: This self-management program using goal setting based on a G-AP was found to be useful and beneficial for patients in stroke rehabilitation settings.
Purpose: This study investigated the health literacy level of, the hypertension knowledge of, the self-management behaviors of, and the factors influencing self-management behaviors of the hypertensive elderly population residing in the urban and rural areas. The purpose of this research was to investigate nursing students' attitude toward body weight control, food behaviors according to their recognition, satisfaction on body image and Body Mass Index(BMI). The subjects were 273 nursing students. A survey was conducted using a self administered questionnaire. The data were an analyzed by a SPSS program. The majority of the surveyed participants were normal range for body mass index(BMI). Most of nursing students preferred a thin body image and were not satisfied with their body image. Most also controlled their body weight for appearance by exercising and the other efforts to change the body weight. From the above results, it is considered that nursing students need to establish proper self-recognition and dietary behaviors for their body images and counseling for desirable body weight control methods.

This study was conducted to build a structural equation model explaining factors that affect hemodialysis patients' quality of life to test the goodness of fit of the model and identify directly and indirectly significant paths. To accomplish this, 230 patients receiving hemodialysis registered at study hospitals in G Metropolitan City and M City were randomly selected, and 201 were used in the final analysis. Data were collected using a self reporting questionnaire from February 1 to March 31, 2014. SPSS WIN 18.0 was used for descriptive statistics and correlation analysis of the general characteristics and for reliability analysis of the research tools. In addition, AMOS 18.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis of latent variables, to determine the goodness of fit of the hypothetic model, and hypotheses testing. The results of this study were as follows: the fit of the modified model was 41.32, GFI = .96, AGFI = .92, RMR = .04, NFI = .96, CFI = .91 and TLI = .95. Twelve out of the 22 research hypotheses that were improved and improved were statistically significant. The results indicated that hemodialysis patients' quality of life was influenced directly by self-efficacy, depression, and self-care behavior, and indirectly by sleep disturbance, stress, fatigue, and family support. These variables explained 58.6% of the variation in quality of life. Overall, these findings suggest that nursing interventions for hemodialysis patients require strategies for managing patient depression and for increasing self-efficacy and self-care behavior to improve quality of life.

Purpose: This study was to identify the effect of the experience of diabetes education on knowledge, self-care behavior and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C). Further, this study was held to examine about patient's preferred methods of education and re-education frequency. Methods: 166 type 2 diabetes patients from two hospitals in Incheon participated in this study. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and multiple regression analysis. Results: 72.3% patients needed re-education and the average interval of re-education was 8.53 months. Patients preferred education methods were lectures, practical training, and studying from pamphlet. Depending on the frequency of diabetes education, there were significant differences in the level of diabetes knowledge (F=10.88, p<.001) and self-care behaviors (F=4.59, p=.012), but there was not significant difference with HbA1C (F=1.53, p=.220). As to how much the diabetes education helped managing diabetes, there was a significant difference in the level of self-care behaviors (t=2.01, p=.049), but there were not significant differences in level of knowledge (t=1.10, p=.275) and HbA1C (t=-.33, p=.746). The experience of diabetes education was a significant factor which influenced patient's knowledge (t=3.93, p<.001) and self-care behaviors (t=2.21, p<.001). But HbA1C was not influenced by the experience of diabetes education (t=-1.68, p=.096). Conclusion: It is necessary to provide diabetes education with appropriate interval and methods and subjects that reflect the needs of patient through the study results.
