Visualization of The Three Dimensional Information Using Stereo Camera (스테레오 카메라를 이용한 3차원 정보의 가시화)

  • The three dimensional information is extracted and visualized using by stereo images of the object and the method for a 3D stereoscopic image is presented by the vergence control algorithm. The matching, which is applied a undistortion of lens and the energy function, is executed for the efficient extraction three dimensional information. Especially, applying the optimized method of matched line to the multi direction of the disparity imges. The disadvantages of multi directional method and reliability expansion method is collected. The matched interesting range of the three dimensional information is visualized using by VRML and more 3D stereoscopic image is visualized through the vergence control according to distance of the object. more improved three dimensional information is provided to observer by visualizing both of them at the same time.

  • The purpose of animation is to give interesting stories to an audience through motion. To achieve the purpose, over the past century since its inception, animation has adopted many kinds of technologies, and thus developed diverse narrative methods and visual expression techniques. In addition, with the advancement of expression techniques, all elements making up animation have gradually been systemized, and at the same time, have helped express the worlds beyond the reality. As a result, people have faced the era when an audience can watch everything imaginated by an animation director on a big screen. These days, more efforts have been made in order for the audience to feel much more than enjoy pictures moving in a frame. In other words, the purpose of the animation is changing from the passive viewing of animation to feeling and sensing stuffs through the animation. In the center of the changing process is 3D technology which gives new interesting to an audience. Sometime ago, a 3D animation movie was produced in Korea. But it did not bring out box-office profits, for it failed to give satisfaction to an audience who expected high perfection and beauty being able to be rivalled to those of international 3D animation movies. The failure is attributable to the fact that the domestic 3D animation production industry is merely in the early stage, and has not sufficient human resources, technology, and experiences in producing 3D animation films. Moreover, the problem is that most studies on 3D focus on the technologies related to reenactment, but that few studies on the images, which an audience directly faces, have been conducted. Under the domestic circumstance, the study on stereoscopic image screen of , a 3D stereoscopic animation film which was released in 2010 and has been seen as the best successful 3D stereoscopic animation, is worthwhile. Thus this thesis conducted theoretical consideration and case analysis focusing on the visual direction that creates the pictures to deliver abundant three dimensional effect so that it can be used as a basic data when producing high quality-domestic 3D animation and training professional labor forces. In the result, it was found that the 3D animation was not a new area, but the area which has been expanded and changed by applying the characteristics of 3D image based on the principles of the existing media aesthetics. This study might be helpful to establish the foundation of the theoretical studies necessary for producing 3D animation contents for realizing the sense of reality.

Research for Characteristics of Sound Localization at Monaural System Using Acoustic Energy (청각에너지를 이용한 모노럴 시스템에서의 음상 정위 특성 연구)

  • According to developments of digital signal processing, 3D sound come into focus on multimedia systems. Many studies on 3d sound have proposed lots of clues to create realistic sounds. But these clues are only focused on binaural systems which two ears are normal. If we make the 3d sound using those clues at monaural systems, the performance goes down dramatically. In order to use the clues for monaural systems, we have studies algorithms such as duplex theory. In duplex theory, the sounds that we listen are affected by human's body, pinna and shoulder. So, we can enhance sound localization performances using its characteristics. In this paper, we propose a new method to use psychoacoustic theory that creates realistic 3D audio at monaural systems. To improve 3d sound, we calculate the excitation energy rates of each symmetric HRTF and extract the weights in each bark range. Finally, they are applied to emphasize the characteristics related to each direction. Informal listening tests show that the proposed method improves sound localization performances much better than the conventional methods.

  • Depth map upsampling is an approach to increase the spatial resolution of depth maps obtained from a depth camera. Depth map quality is closely related to 3D perception of stereoscopic image, multi-view image and holography. In general, the performance of upsampled depth map is evaluated by PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio). On the other hand, time-consuming 3D subjective tests requiring human subjects are carried out for examining the 3D perception as well as visual fatigue for 3D contents. Therefore, if an objective metric is closely correlated with a subjective test, the latter can be replaced by the objective metric. For this, this paper proposes a best metric by investigating the relationship between diverse objective metrics and 3D subjective tests. Diverse reference and no-reference metrics are adopted to evaluate the performance of upsampled depth maps. The subjective test is performed based on DSCQS test. From the utilization and analysis of three kinds of correlations, we validated that SSIM and Edge-PSNR can replace the subjective test.

  • Due to the advance of H/W and S/W techniques to play 3D sound, the virtual space contented by 3D graphics and sounds can provide users more improved realities and vividness. However for the small 3D contents developers and companies, it is hard to implement 3D sound techniques because the implementation requires expensive sound engines, 3D sound technical understanding and 3D sound programming skills. Therefore 3D-sound-playing-interface is necessary to easy and cost-effective 3D sound implementation. Using this interface, graphics experts can easily add 3D sound techniques to their applications. In this paper, the followings are designed and implemented as a preliminary stage in the way of developing the 3D sound playing interface. First, we develop 3D sound S/W modules converting mono to 3D sound in PC based systems. Second, we develop the interconnection modules to map 3D graphic objects and sound sources. The developed modules in this paper can allow the user to percept sound source position and surround effect at the moving positions in the virtual world. In the coming works, we are going to develop the more completed 3D sound playing interface consisted of the synchronization technique for sound and moving objects, and HRTF.

  • This paper is a study on the 3D infrared image enhancement with Stereoscopic algorithm on still infrared image. The adapted stereo method is that the depth is extracted by comparison with right-left image, and the enhanced 3D infrared image by matching based on feature is realized. As the result of experiment this method forced the more smooth edge lines of 3D infrared images.

  • 본 논문에서는 입체 영상 시스템 중 전송단에서의 영상의 입체감 분석을 위한 변이추정 방식에 대해 중점적으로 연구하였다. 변이추정은 기본적으로 MAE(mean absolute error)를 최소가 되도록 하는 동시에 변이를 각 방향에서의 경계값의 크기에 반비례한 정도로 평활화하는 반복적 블록 매칭 방식을 적용하였다. 수신단에서는 복원된 영상과 변이 정보를 이용하여 IVR(Intermediate View Reconstruction)을 수행하였으며, 보간법(interpolation)을 사용하는 동시에 occlusion 영역에서의 좌우 영상중 한 영상에서 외삽법(extrapolation)을 택하였다. 이 알고리즘으로 영상의 smooth 영역에서 일정하게 평활화된 변이를 추정하였고, 경계부분에서는 평활화방식에서 흔히 발생하는 oversmoothing 문제를 해결하였다. 또한 IVR에서는 다른 알고리즘에 비해 영상의 경계 부분을 살리며, occlusion 영역을 잘 보존하는 특성을 보였다.

  • 최근 선풍적인 인기를 끌고 있는 3D 영화 "아바타"가 한 동안 조용했던 3D 시장에 엄청난 충격파를 던지고 있다. 상상력을 자극하는 할리우드제작 영화 특유의 실감나는 영상에 입체감이 배가되면서 3D 영상에 대한 국민들의 관심과 눈높이를 빠른 속도로 끌어올렸다. 전자업계가 본격적인 3D TV 마케팅에 나서고 있으며, 첨단 기술로 무장한 3DTV를 잇따라 발표할 예정이고 장외에선 시장선점을 위한 홍보전도 치열해지고 있다. 이런 가운데 전자업체의 3D TV 마케팅이 영화 아바타가 만들어낸 3D 열풍을 이어 갈 수 있을지에 관심이 쏠리고 있다. 3D 관련 여러가지 분야 중에서 3D 영상을 입체로 보여주는 3D 디스플레이가 매우 중요한데, 본 고에서는 3D 디스플레이들 중에서, 국내 3D 전문기업인 파버나인코리아가 최근에 발표한 "Wire Grid 3D 디스플레이"의 그 독특한 구조와 놀라운 특징에 대해서 소개하고자 한다.

  • 원격 조작이나 해저 수중 탐사에서 실제와 같이 거리감을 인식하며 제어하기 위하여, 3차원 입체 영상 카메라 장치를 사용하고 있다. 기본적인 구성 형태인 Stereoscopic Camera 시스템은 기구적으로 주시각 제어와 초점 제어가 이루어 지고 있으며, 획득영상에 대하여 영상 distortion 보정, 압축 처리 등의 영상 신호처리가 행하여진다. 양안 카메라의 수평 위치를 일치시켜 수평적으로 동일 위치의 pixel들이 정확한 epipolar line을 형성할 경우에, 주시각 제어가 용이하고 보정 및 영상처리 등의 연산량이 대폭 감소된다. 이와 같은 calibration 과정을, 기존의 시스템에서는, 주로 영상 획득 포기에 패턴을 사용하여 실시하거나, 물리적 수평 장치와 sensor 등의 보조 장치를 이용하여 calibration을 행한다. 그러나, 기계적으로 정밀하게 정렬을 한다고 하여도 두 카메라의 광축 및 CCD조립상 상이점과 특성의 불일치로 인하여 실제 획득된 영상에서는 변이와 회전이 포함된 영상을 얻게된다. 본 논문에서는 Stereoscopic Camera의 위와같은 정렬 오류의 문제점을 분석한 후, 제안 방식으로서 두 카메라의 획득되는 영상을 직접 영상 처리하여 수직 방향 및 회전 오류를 최소화 시켜 정렬하는 새로운 방법을 제시하며, 실험적으로 제안 방식의 효율성을 보인다.
