A Study on the Foreign Direct Investment Determinants of Chinese Manufacturing Firms into local Korea (해외직접투자 결정요인에 관한 실증연구 - 중국 제조 기업의 대한국 해외직접투자를 중심으로 -)

  • This study tries to analyze the investment determinants of Chinese firms in local Korea, where the Chinese investing ones have been operating since in the middle of 1990s. The main purpose can be mentioned to test empirically some relations between the investment determinants of Chinese firms and the investment types. In detail speaking, the dependent variables of investment types are classified with sole venture and joint venture, while the independent ones are sorted based on the previous studies with the 2 following factors like the competitive advantages of Chinese firms, and the location advantages of local Korea. This study is conducted as the following: the survey of Chinese firms engaging in investment activities in there is implemented by collecting questionnaires. And for testing the hypothesis, the path analysis of structural equation modeling is activated with SPSS. 12.0 and AMOS 11.0 for windows.

  • Where should a plant or service facility be located? The decision is crucial since the capital investment in land, factory construction, and facility is enormous. Once a firm has sunk a large sum of money into a factory, it lives with the decision for a long time. In this age of global markets and global production, this is a key decision problem for contemporary manufacturing and/or service. Using data from Korean and Chinese managers and the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), this paper did study on the actual condition for identifying the differences of opinion between the two group's(Shanghai and Shenyang managers) in how to make decisions on the location problems. Since this study was carried out during recent global economy recession, and the limitation of the collected questionnaires, it is hard to avoid the possibility for those managers to show different view from their ordinary times. Nevertheless, this paper will provide managers with useful informations on successful facility location in China.

  • In general, most of the firms do not settle down in one place for their pursuit of profit. There are many reasons for the relocation of the firms; procurement of raw material, market area, transportation cost and housing cost. The aspect of national policy, firm relocation has been systemically promoted for the purpose of logistics system efficiency. Nowadays balanced regional development has been issue. Another aspect, many countries have struggled for the preoccupancy of new place because of its production cost saving and curtailment of expenditure. The aim of this article is qualitative and quantitative analysis of relocation influence factors of domestic goods firms in Korea. This article dynamically analyzed the relocation influence factors for domestic goods firms in Korea. For the analysis this article made use of complementary survey (2006) out of the 3rd national logistics survey (2005). The complementary survey conducted pre-business district, business period, relocation reason, etc. This article dynamically analyzed from the three aspects; observation of average residence time in one business district, relocation factors, influence of market area. Analysis shows that relocation of firm is very high rate and the reasons of relocation play compositeness role. The results of determinants of location, firms approach the established market area closely and the firm's relocation is influenced by market area.

Comparing Factors of Urban Characteristics according to Location of Large Professional Sports Facilities (대규모 프로스포츠시설 입지에 따른 도시특성요인 비교분석)

  • This study analyzes important urban characteristics according to location of large-scaled professional sports facilities based on a binary logistic regression model and t-test. For the empirical analysis, this study uses 24 urban characteristics within social, economic, cultural, traffic, and spatial categories in 228 cities. The results show that economic condition can be the main decision factor for the differential feature of the location as well as social and traffic conditions. Concretely, more the number of young adults and middle-aged people who have considerable purchasing power, and available land are more the beneficial to the presence of the sports facilities. Recently local governments focus on location of the facilities due to their impacts on regional economics as well as residents' quality of life. In this point of vies, this study gives good understanding why it is a great option for location of the facilities.

  • 도서관은 공공서비스 중에서도 강제적인 서비스가 아니고 임의적인 또는 생활의 질과 관련되는 서비스이기 때문에 서비스 수요는 접근용이성이나 주변환경 등의 영향을 받게 된다. 그러나 지금까지 우리나라의 공공도서관의 입지결정은 정책결정자의 의지나 경험이 크게 작용하여 이용자의 이용측면을 고려하지 않고 설립되었다. 본 연구는 공공도서관의 입지와 이용과의 관련성을 밝히기 위하여 이용자가 인지하는 접근용이성과 주변환경의 주관적 인지도를 측정하고 이용이 높은 도서관과 이용이 낮은 도서관간의 차이를 밝힘으로써 앞으로의 공공도서관의 입지선장에 유용한 자료를 제시하는 데 그 목적을 두었다.

Evaluating location suitability of Park-and-Ride facilities using GIS (GIS를 이용한 환승시설 입지 적합도 평가)

  • Park-and- Rides are intermodal transfer facilities providing a staging location for travellers to transfer between transportation modes. They are an alternative to alleviate transportation problems such as traffic congestion and air pollution in metropolitan areas. Siting Park-and-Ride facilities belongs to a kind of multi-criteria spatial decision making problems being associated with a combination of various location factors. The purpose of this paper is to provide a method and procedure to evaluate the location suitability of Park-and-Ride facilities using GIS(Geographic Information Systems). Using GIS-based suitability analysis, land value, landuse, road accessibility, public transportation accessibility, possibility to intercept automobile trips, distance to activity center and competition with existing facilities were evaluated as location factors. The suitabilities of individual factors were combined to produce a composite map with a specific weight scheme. Then a given number of sites with high suitability score were selected as potential facility locations and their demand were evaluated based on a commutershed with parabolic shape. The suggested method and procedure will provide useful information in determining Park-and-Ride sites and designing their structure.

관찰 자료를 이용한 소매점포 성과의 결정요인

  • 점포선택에 영향을 미치는 선행변수들을 규명한 기존 연구들은 주로 점포 방문행동에 초점을 두고 진행되어 왔으나, 이러한 점포 방문행동이 과연 실제 구매행동으로까지 이어질 것인가에 대한 연구는 매우 제한적으로 이루어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 관찰 자료를 이용하여 점포선택의 단계를 점포방문행동과 실제 구매 행동으로 분류한 후, 이들 각 단계에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색적으로 실증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 소매점포를 대상으로 수집된 관찰 자료를 이용하여 분석한 결과, 경쟁점포의 수를 제외한 유동인구, 소매점포의 시계성과 같은 소매점포의 입지요인과 점포의 크기, 가판대 설치, 판촉 행사와 같은 소매점포의 마케팅 요인이 점포방문행동에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 점포방문행동이 실제 구매동향에 미치는 영향력은 주효과뿐만 아니라 상품구색과 같은 점포내부요인과의 상호작용효과가 존재하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 끝으로 이러한 결과의 이론적 및 실무적 시사점이 논의되고, 연구의 한계점과 미래의 연구방향이 제시되었다.

  • The importance of the factors that influence on the sales from the owners of franchise beauty salons has been analized through AHP method. The result shows that the critical factors are workers, location, franchise brand power, facilities and price in turn. The importance of the low level shows that facilities, famous staffs, the appearance of workers, franchise brand's populality in turn.

  • The purpose of this research is to select an appropriate location of water pollution prevention facilities(WPPF) through evaluating location decision factor using environmental geographic information system. To do that, this research reviewed the current location policies of WPPFs and its related researches. And this paper builds water pollutant statistical databases, integrated them with the geographic information system of the administrative areas where water pollutants are generated, and gears it with statistical programs such as correlation and regression analysis in order to figure out the pollution factors which influence on the location decision of WPPF on the real time base. The volume of discharge of industrial wastewater is one of the most important water pollutants on the location decision of WPPF. And the number of industrial facilities also was the most important location decision factor in constructing the WPPFs. In addition, this paper noted that the number of population in each area makes a role to restraint the construction of WPPF. It identified that the disposal facility in Nackdong river upper-middle watersheds was insufficient in treating the livestock pollutants. Therefore, Gyeongbuk should concentrate on the construction of disposal facilities of livestock pollutant in these areas. The results of this research will contribute to decide what kinds of WPPF should be constructed on which watershed in Nackdong River, and to forecast the future water quality of each watershed.

The importance of plant location decision-making in the petrochemical industry (석유화학업체의 플랜트 입지 선정의 중요성에 대한 연구)

  • Plant location selection is a decision which requires huge investment and entails a significant impact in a longer-term. The petrochemical industry, in particular, is so capital- and technology-intensive that the firms in the industry pursue enhancing competitiveness through collaboration and integration among entities in their supply chains. Even though the logistics factor such as logistics costs and connectivity have, as a result, gained its importance in plant location decision making, this has rarely studies in empirical studies. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relative importance of the logistics factor in plant location decision making in the petrochemical industry using the multi-criteria decision-making approach. In addition the three representative petrochemical industrial complexes are evaluated by the factors used in this study. This study is able to provide the useful implication in both practical and policy-making aspects. Firms are required to consider the logistics factors with priority compared to other factors in plant location decision making. In addition, when federal or local governments build industrial sites and attract the petrochemical firm, logistics infrastructure should also be considered to provide better transportation connectivity and lower logistics costs in turn.
