Photo-catalytic Characteristics of Sol-Gel Synthesized TiO2 Thin Film (졸-겔법을 이용한 TiO2 박막의 광촉매 특성)

  • Thin film of $TiO_2$ was obtained by the sol-gel dip method on the brosilicate glass substrate. It was found that the film was about $1.5{\mu}m$ thick as obtained by 4 successive coatings and annealed at varied temperatures ranged from $300^{\circ}C$ to $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs. The substrate used was having the surface area of $100mm^2$. Increasing the annealing temperature caused to change in mineralogical phase of titanium oxide i.e., amorphous, crystalline antase to rutile phases. The particle size of the titanium oxide film were ranged from $0.1{\sim}0.54{\mu}m$ estimated by the SEM analysis. The material showed an absorbance maximum at the wavelength 390nm obtained by UV-visible spectrophotometer. These results therefore, indicated that the $TiO_2$ film obtained relatively at low annealing temperature consisted predominantly with anatase phase; possessed higher photocatalytic behavior i.e., 2.4 times higher than that of only UV lamp irradiation.

  • 투어멀린(Tourmaline)은 비대칭 쌍극자를 가진 유극성 결정체로 광물 중에서 영구적으로 전기분극의 특성을 띄고 있는 유일한 물질로써 일명 "전기석"이라고 알려져 있고, 자체의 미약전류(약 0,06mA)와 함께 음이온 및 원적외선의 발생으로 최근 들어 우리 주변에서 건강과 환경을 위한 관심고조의 대상인 육방정계의 압전성 및 초전성을 띄는 붕규산염(주요성분: Mg, Fe, B, Si, Ca)으로, 원석(면역지수 ~1000)에 비해 수백 배의 효력이 있는 투어말린 세라믹(면역지수 ~418,000)을 비롯하여 이것을 이용한 새로운 아이디어 신상품들이 계속 개발되고 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 물분자를 만나면 수소(H$^{+}$)와 수산기(OH$^{-}$)로 전기분해하여 친수기와 소수기 부분으로 구분하며, H$^{+}$와 OH$^{-}$는 각각 $H_2O$와 결합하여 활성이 강한 hydronium ion(H$_3$O$^{+}$ 과 계면활성 작용이 있는 hydroxyl ion(H$_3$O$_2$$^{-}$)을 생성하며, 물속에서 계속 불안정한 상태로 존재하는 수산기는 hydroxyl (-)ion을 형성하여 약 알카리성(pH~7.4)을 띄고 물의 클러스터 세분화와 미네랄을 공급해 줌으로 체내에 들어오면 살균, 항균능력이 있는 면역기능을 갖게 되며, 혈액을 정화하고 자율신경을 자극하여 교감신경의 흥분을 억제한. 이와 함께 전기분극을 띈 투어멀린 입자는 다른 물질에 비하여 경이적 수치의 원적외선을 발생하여 강력한 열 효과와 높은 침투력으로 인체의 혈액순환 촉진과 혈전용해 작용으로 건강과 활력에 도움을 주는 것으로 확인되어 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 따라서 유익한 이용가치를 인정받고 있는 투어멀린을 유용한 타 물질과 혼합물을 구성하여 성형 또는 EPD 전착하여 소결한 뒤, 소결체의 특성을 분석하여 그 응용성을 개발, 확보하였다.

  • 선박이 배출하는 안정수(ballast water)는 외부로부터 유해 생물들이 유입되어 전파해 오는 주요경로로써 해양환경의 매우 중요하고 위험한 일종의 하나이지만, 이에 대한 효과적인 처리방법은 아직까지도 개발되지 못하였다. 그러나 최근 강 전리방전을 이용하여 고 밀집 산소와 물분자를 고농도 수산자유기(OH: hydroxyl radical)로 전리, 활성입자를 발생시켜 신속히 확산시키면 넓은 범위에서 비교적 낮은 농도로 유해성 침입 생물을 잔류물 없이 저렴한 비용으로 살균제나 촉매제의 사용 없이 소멸시켜 처리하는 효과적인 새로운 녹색방법을 제안하였다. 또한, 수산기는 강 산화제로써(산화환원 전위는 2.80 eV), 적조생물을 신속, 효과적으로 사멸시켜 잔유물과 오염물 발생 없이 이상적으로 해양적조현상을 처리할 수 있는 활성물질이다. 고출력 강 전리장치를 활용하면 수산기 활성제의 발생 농도를 Sr104 이상으로 얻을 수 있으므로, 해양적조처리에 요구되는 문턱 값 농도(~l$\times$$10^{-6}$)를 충족시킬 수 있으며, 이 경우 적조생물 소멸처리시간은 불과 10 sec 내외이므로 선박 안정수 처리문제와 함께 적조발생의 난문제를 해양동력학적으로 동시에 해결할 수 있는 효과적인 기술이다. 실험결과로부터 시간당 1 k톤의 활성물질을 발생하는 수산기활성제 제조장치의 경우, 약 4$\times$$10^2$ $\textrm{km}^2$/h의 적조해면을 처리할 수 있으며, 그 비용은 약 US$l,000 정도에 상당하므로, 적조에 따른 경제손실과는 비교될 수 없는 저렴하고 효과적인 방법이다. 활성물질의 생성시간과 가공시간은 불과 수십 $\mu\textrm{s}$ 및 수 sec 에 불과하므로, 1 kton/h 용량의 수산기활성제 제조장치의 환산소비동력은 약 200 kW이고, 장치의 체적은 10~30 ㎥의 공간으로 충분하므로, 소형선박으로 상당면적의 적조피해를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있다.

Basic Study on the in-situ Biogenic Methane Generation from Low Grade Coal Bed (저품위 석탄의 원지반에서의 생물학적 메탄가스 생산에 관한 기초연구)

  • In the present work, a basic study on the in-situ biogenic methane generation from low grade coal bed was conducted. Lignite from Indonesia was used as a sample feedstock. A series of BMP (Biochemical Methane Potential) tests were carried out under the different experimental conditions. Although nutrients and anaerobic digester sludge were added to the coal, the produced amount of methane was limited. Both temperature control and particle size reduction showed little effect on the increase of methane potential. When rice straw was added to lignite as an external carbon source, methane yield of 94.4~110.4 mL/g VS was obtained after 60 days of BMP test. The calorific value of lignite after BMP test decreased (4.5~12.1 %) as increasing the content of rice straw (12.5~50 wt % of lignite), implying that anaerobic digestion of rice straw led to partial degradation of lignite. Therefore, rice straw could be used as an external carbon source for the start-up of in-situ biogas generation from low grade coal bed.

Suggested Method for Determining a Complete Set of Micro-Parameters Quantitatively in PFC2D (PFC2D 활용을 위한 정량적 미시변수 결정법)

  • The discrete element code in 2-D, PFC2D, has been used as a tool to simulate various phenomena in rock mechanics and rock engineering. However, the code has an disadvantage that procedure to determine micro-parameters, namely properties of particles and contacts is repetitive and time-consuming. In this study, we analyzed the effect of micro-parameters(for generation of a contact-bonded model) on macro-properties(that were measured numerically by uniaxial compressive test). Based on the analysis, also, the time-saving and reliable method was suggested to determine a complete set of micro-parameters. In order to verify the suggested method, numerical specimens were generated in PFC2D for 10 different rock types at home and abroad. By the two trials for each specimen, in the result, the Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and uniaxial compressive strength could be reproduced with being in relative error by about 5% to the values obtained by laboratory tests.

  • High bandwidth RF such as Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, 3GSM, HSDPA is papular in the mobile phone market. A non-conducting metal coating process requires an e-beam deposition of metal, two steps of UV hard coating primer and top coating; however, it is inefficient. We navigate to the electron beam irradiation conditions(resin surface treatment conditions) in the PC/ABS resin injection process. By analyzing the experimental results, we find the optimum development conditions for the electro deposition pre-treatment process and mass production lines using the plasma generated electron beam source.

  • Three-dimensional models of stenosis blood vessels were prepared using a 3D printer. The models included a straight pipe with axisymmetric stenosis and a pipe that was bent $10^{\circ}$ from the center of stenosis. A refractive index matching method was utilized to measure accurate velocity fields inside the 3D tubes. Three different pulsatile flows were generated and controlled by changing the rotational speed frequency of the peristaltic pump. Unsteady velocity fields were measured by a time-resolved particle image velocimetry method. Periodic shedding of vortices occurred and moves depended on the maximum velocity region. The sizes and the positions of the vortices and symmetry are influenced by mean Reynolds number and tube geometry. In the case of the bent pipe, a recirculation zone observed at the post-stenosis could explain the possibility of blood clot formation and blood clot adhesion in view of hemodynamics.

  • The flow around a foil with water jet was investigated using the two-frame PIV(CACTUS 3.1) system. After separation, unsteady recirculation & reattachment region was shown a result at reading edge. Separation area was decreased to 1/3 more by waterjet system with coanda effect. Angle of attack and water jet velocity was a variable in the experiment. Each parameters was controlled to $0^{\circ}\sim35^{\circ}$ and $0[m/s]\sim9.2[m/s]$. The separation of flow appearanced at first when the angle of attack is $17^{\circ}\sim18^{\circ}$, However, according to grew up of velocity, beginning of the separation was delayed. In this experiment, vortex and separation region was disappeared by blown when each parameters are low level, and separation controlled more certainly.

Studies on the Alcohol Fermentation with Extruded Tapioca Starch (고온.고압하에서 압출시킨 Tapioca 전분을 이용한 알코올 발효법에 관한 연구)

  • Several methods to produce ethanol from tapioca starch were examined. Among four methods tested, alcohol fermentation with extruded tapioca starch was the most effective, which alcohol yield was 460.5 f/ton. After 69hours reaction with Rhizopus sp. glucoamylase, 108.7mg/$m\ell$ of reducing sugar were produced from extruded tapioca and 43.8mg/$m\ell$ from raw tapioca starch. In alcohol fermentation with extruded tapioca, the high concentration of alcohol at early stage prevented bacterial contamination and the fermentation rate was increased due to the high saccharifying power of glucoamylase on the extruded starch, but extrusion temperature had no influence on the fermentability, Scanning electron microscopy showed that the extrusion process changed the structure of tapioca starch granule to more susceptible form to glucoamylase attack than the raw starch. And glucoamylase of Rhizopus sp. had stronger digestion activity on both extruded tapioca and raw tapioca starch than that of Aspergillus usamii.

A Study on Particulate Matter Formed from Plasma Decomposition of SF6 (SF6의 플라즈마 분해로부터 생성된 입자상 물질에 관한 연구)

  • $SF_6$ (sulfur hexafluoride) gas has an extremely high global warming potential (GWP). Therefore, there has been an effort to reduce of $SF_6$ its emission into atmosphere. In this study, $SF_6$ was injected into the plasma reactor directly, decomposed particulate matter of $SF_6$ was analyzed. Destruction and removal efficiency (DRE) of $SF_6$ were tested with varying degrees of plasma power and initial concentrations of $SF_6$ (1,000 ppm). This study is conducted with plasma power which are 4.4 kW, 5.5 kW, 6.0 kW, 6.6 kW, 7.6 kW, 8.1 kW and 9.1 kW. It was confirmed through experiment that the decomposition efficiency of $SF_6$ is 100% at 7.6 kW of the plasma power. In addition, the particulate matter is formed as minute particles of which size is $1{\mu}m$ and the main component of particulate matter is identified as $AlF_3$.
