Effect of Elevated Steeping Temperature on Properties of Wet-milled Rice Flour (가온 수침처리가 습식제분 쌀가루의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Newly harvested milled rice and stored milled rice for 2 years were steeped at the elevated temperatures of 40, 50, and 60℃ for 2hr, and physicochemical properties of the wet-milled rice flour were investigated. The lightness of rice flour was slightly higher in the newly harvested milled-rice, while yellowness was higher in the stored milled rice. For both newly harvested and stored milled rice, WAI, WSI, and gel consistency increased as steeping temperature increased. The amylograph pasting properties indicated that increasing steeping temperature increased peak viscosity. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results of the rice flour showed that increasing steeping temperature increased onset and peak temperatures, with reduced gelatinization enthalphy, suggesting partial annealing occured. Particle size of rice flour from newly harvested milled rice was larger than that from stored milled rice.

  • Nanostructured $TiO_2-SiO_2$ materials have widely been used as anti-reflecting coating, optical-chemical sensors and catalysts because of their superior optical and thermal properties as well as chemical durability. Web type $SiO_2$ microfibers with nano-crystalline $TiO_2$ were prepared by electrospinning of Ti-PCS mixed solution and oxidation controlled heat-treatment, rather simple than sol-gel process. Nano-crystalline anatase phase were formed for the heat-treatment up to $1200^{\circ}C$ and they were finely dispersed in the amorphous $SiO_2$ matrix.

  • [ $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ ] nano-glass has been prepared by sol-gel method. The mean particle size was 60.3 nm with narrow size distribution. The nano-galss has been used as a sintering aid for the densification of the NiZnCu ferrites. The ferrite was sintered with nano-glass sintering aids at $840{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, 2 h and the initial permeability, quality factor, density, and saturation magnetization were also measured. The initial permeability of 0.5 wt% nano-glass added toroidal sample for NiZnCu ferrites sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ was 193.3 at 1 MHz. The initial permeability and saturation magnetization were increased with increasing annealing temperature. As a result, $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ nano-glass systems were found to be useful as sintering aids for multilayer chip inductors.

  • The PZT based piezoelectric thick films prepared by screen printing method have been mainly used as a functional material for MEMS applications due to their compatibility of MEMS process. However the screen printed thick films generally reveal poor electrical and mechanical properties because of their porous microstructure. To improve microstructure we mixed attrition milled powder with ball milled powder of 0.01Pb$(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})O_3$-0.41Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$-$0.35PbTiO_3$-$0.23PbZrO_3$+0.1 wt% ${Y_2}{O_3}$+1.5 wt% ZnO composition. By mixing 25 % of attrition milled powder and 75 % of ball milled powder, the broadest particle size distribution was obtained, leading to a dense thick film with crack-free microstructure and improved dielectric properties. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the film was in wellcrystallized perovskite phase. The remanent polarization was increased from $13.7{\mu}C/cm^2$ to $23.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ at the addition of 25 % attrition milled powder.

Preparation of High Purity ZnO Powder from zinc-bearing waste by the Hydrometallurgical Process (함아연 폐기물로부터 습식법에 의한 고순도 ZnO 분말의 제조)

  • A process development for direct synthesis of high pure ZnO powders from zinc-bearing waste was investigated. This waste contains a 55% of zinc and it was extracted by the sulfuric acid(leaching). After removal of iron ion by precipitation from the zinc solution, the purification through a solvent extraction by the use of D2EHPA as an extractant was carried out. Then, loaded zinc in organic solution was stripped and precipitated simultaneously using a precipitant such as oxalic acid. The synthesized $ZnC_2O_4$ powders by the precipitation stripping method was calcined to obtain more than 99.9% of ZnO powders. The effect of sulfuric acid concentration, leaching time, pulp density on the extraction of zinc was studied and the optimum conditions for the solvent extraction were obtained through the investigation of purification of zinc solution. The size, morphology and size distribution of synthesized $ZnC_2O_4$ powders were studied in terms of oxalic acid concentration, temperature, surfactant added, precipitation time, etc.

Effects of Eu3+ Concentration on the Photoluminescence Properties of Y1-xPO4:Eux3+ Red Phosphor (Eu3+ 함량비가 Y1-xPO4:Eux3+ 적색 형광체의 발광 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • $Y_{1-x}PO_4:{Eu_x}^{3+}$ red phosphors were synthesized with changing the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ion by using a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structures of all the red phosphors were found to be a tetragonal system composed of (200) diffraction peak centered at $25.88^{\circ}$, and the morphology of grains approached the spherical form with homeogenous size distribution as the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ion increased. As for the photoluminescence properties, all of the ceramic phosphors, irrespective of $Eu^{3+}$ ion concentration, showed the red-orange and the red emission peaked at 593.0 and 619.2 nm respectively. As the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ion increased, the excitation spectrum moved into a longer wavelength with the increase of emission intensity. The maximum excitation and the emission spectrum were observed at 0.15 mol of $Eu^{3+}$ ion.

  • 한국은 국제핵융합실험로 (ITER) 사업에 참여하고 있으며, 삼중수소 증식을 시험하기 위한 시험 모듈(TBM, Test Blanket Module)로서 HCML (Helium Cooled Molten Lithium) TBM을 설계, 개발하고 있다. 헬륨 및 액체 리튬을 냉각재와 증식재로 사용하는 개념으로, 구조재로서 Ferritic Martensitic (FM) 강이 사용될 예정이다. 특히, HCML TBM의 일차벽은 중성자 및 플라즈마로부터 입사되는 입자들을 차폐하기 위한 Be 차폐체와 FM강으로 구성되어 있으며, 일차벽 제작법 개발을 위해서는 Be과 FM강 간의 접합과 FM강 간의 접합 방법이 개발되어야 한다. FM강 간의 접합은 기존의 연구를 통해 접합 조건이 이미 도출되었고, 고열부하 시험을 통해 검증 완료한 상태이다. 그러나, Be과 FM강 간의 접합은 현재 개발단계에 있다. 본 논문에서는 고려 중인 구조재와 Be 차폐체 사이의 접합법 개발을 위해, 고온등방가압(HIP, Hot Isostatic Pressing) 조건을 도출하고, 운전조건과 유사 혹은 가혹한 조건에서 고열부하를 인가하여, 그 건전성을 평가하는 일련의 과정을 기술하였다. 본 연구에서는 Be과 FM강 간의 접합법 개발 및 검증을 위해 제작된 $80{\times}80{\times}1$ Be/FM강 mock-up을 국내에서 구축된 고열부하 시험 장비인 KoHLT를 활용하여 수행한 고열부하 시험에 대한 것이다. 본 mock-up은 $80{\times}80{\times}10mm(t)$의 Be tile 3개를 동일 크기에 두께가 각각 25mm와 50 mm인 FM강과 스테인레스강에 접합된 것으로, 고열부하 장비에 설치하여 고열부하 시험을 수행하였다. 냉각수의 온도 및 속도는 25 C, 0.15 kg/sec로 유지되었고, 열부하는 $0.5\;MW/m^2$로 유지하였다. 시험 조건에 대한 예비해석을 통해, 가열시의 온도 및 stress, strain 분포를 얻었고, 이를 통해, cycle to failure 값을 도출하였다. 1000 사이클의 가열 실험을 마친후 초음파를 활용한 접합 계면의 결함확인 및 파괴검사를 통한 접합 건전성을 확인하였다. 3가지 접합법 모두 일부 접합면이 이탈되었으며, 향후 보다 건전한 접합방법 개발이 진행되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

Sheet fabrication of Ni-WC anode for Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell by Tape Casting Method (테이프 캐스팅법에 의한 MCFC Anode용 Ni-WC 박판 제조)

  • By the mechanical alloying method. Ni-WC composite materials were prepared to improve the deformation-resistance for creep and sintering of Ni-anode at the operating temperature of $650^{\circ}C$. Mechanically alloyed powder w was initially fabricated by ball milling for 80hr, and then amorphization was occurred by the destruction of ordered crystals based on XRD analysis. In order to investigate the electrochemical performance and sheet characteristics of Ni-WC anode, tape casting process was adopted. Finally, the obtained sheet thickness of Ni- we after sintering at $1180^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes in $H_2$ atmosphere was O.9mm and the average pore size was $3~5{\mu\textrm{m}}$ with porosities of 55%. The second phase was not observed in Ni- W matrix while W particles were finely and uniformly distributed in Ni matrix. This fine and uniform distributed W particles in Ni matrix are expected to enhance the mechanical properties of Ni anode through the dispersion and solid solution hardening mechanisms.

Effect of Tungsten on PtRuW/C Catalysts for Promoting Methanol Electro-oxidation (메탄올 전기산화반응 증진을 위한 PtRuW/C 촉매에서 텅스텐의 효과에 관한 연구)

  • PtRuW/C catalysts were prepared with the different molar ratios of Pt : Ru : W and their compositions were analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The uniform distribution of particles was observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). An average crystalline size of 3.5~5.5 nm was calculated based on x-ray diffraction (XRD) data. The electrochemical properties such as electrochemically active surface areas, current densities, specific activities and poisoning rates, were analyzed via CO stripping, linear sweep voltammetry and chronoamperometry. From the analysis, we observed that ternary alloy catalysts, except $PtRu_2W_2/C$, have higher current densities, specific activities and stabilities than those of commercial binary catalysts. Among all in-house catalysts, Pt5Ru4W/C showed the highest specific activity of $121.05mA{\cdot}m^{-2}$ and the lowest poisoning rate of $0.01%{\cdot}s^{-1}$.

  • 도심지에서의 우수관거시스템의 경우 적정 설계빈도 기준에 따라 유입량에 따른 적정 통수능을 확보할 수 있도록 설계되고 있다. 유입량에 동반되는 토사량의 경우 관내 퇴적 방지를 위한 적정 설계유속 조건 반영을 통해 관내 퇴적이 이루어지지 않도록 고려하고 있다. 그러나 2011년 7월 우면산 토사피해, 2014년 8월 금정산 토사피해와 같이 실제 발생한 주요 침수피해들의 경우 다양한 피해발생 원인들 중 관로 내 토사퇴적에 따른 우수관로의 통수능력의 저하되는 문제점이 지적되었다. 설계 시 적절히 고려하지 못한 토사의 유입은 관내 토사 퇴적으로 이어지고 결과적으로 통수단면 저하에 따른 월류발생 및 도심지 내 침수피해가 발생으로 이어지게 된다. 따라서 이러한 문제를 해결하고 기존 관거의 통수능력을 적절히 확보하기 위해서는 관거 내의 퇴사량에 대한 분석과 이를 고려한 관로 설계가 필수적이다. 도시유역에서 일반적인 우수관거로 유입되는 토사의 경우 산지유역과 달리 비교적 작은 입경을 가진 토사들로 구성된다. 즉, 유입되는 토사량에 있어 입경의 적정 크기 및 분포에 따라서 관거내 토사 퇴적량이 달라지게 되며 이를 해소할 수 있는 유속 범위에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 토사 입경별 관내 유속에 따른 퇴적양상을 검토하기 위하여 특정 제원의 관거 및 우수관거로 유입되는 토사의 입경들을 기준으로 관내 수심의 변동에 따른 우수관거를 지나는 각입자별 부유 퇴적의 기준이 되는 한계유속 조건을 산정하였으며, 이를 고려한 관거의 경사도 조정을 통해 설계유량에 따른 관거 내 토사퇴적량 변화를 살펴보았다. 이때, 관로내에 일정량의 토사가 지속적으로 유입되는 것으로 가정하였으며, 유입되는 토사의 입경을 0.1mm~30.0mm까지 세분화하여, 유입되는 토사 전량에 대한 입경을 하나의 입경으로 고정시킨 조건으로 관내 유속에 따른 퇴적 양상의 변화를 검토하였다. 향후 해당 조건을 반영한 설계방안의 경우 설계강우에 대한 고려를 통하여 신뢰도 측면에서 관거내 토사의 퇴적과 유속 관계에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 이루어져야 하며, 이를 통하여 일반적인 관거의 설계 기준이 수립될 필요가 있다고 판단된다.
