An appropriateness review on the road tunnel ventilation standards by pollutants site measurement and case study (오염물질 현장측정 및 사례조사를 통한 도로터널 환기기준의 적정성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a series of site measurement of particulate and gases pollutants at five tunnels were carried out along with case studies to review the suitability of the current road tunnel ventilation design standards. Previous studies by other researchers have shown that the ratios of the level of measurement to the standard were 27.9%, 1.6% and 3.4% for TSP, CO and NOx, respectively. Those measured in this site study shows even lower ratios; the ratios were 2.6%, 0.8% and 0.3%, for TSP, CO and NOx, respectively. The particle size analysis of TSP for the five tunnels shows that PM10 including tire wear and re-suspended road dust exceeded 20.4%. This implies that non-exhaust particulate matter must be taken into account, since the current design standards for the particulate matter (visibility) include only the engine emission. Based on the recent research results, for vehicle emission rate and slope-speed correction factors, revision of ventilation design standards for pollutants is required. WRA (PIARC) also emphasizes the necessity of the ventilation design standards for pollutants. In addition, enactment of a new road tunnel ventilation system operation standard or guideline is strongly recommended when considering the low operating rate of the ventilation system with jet-fans.

PBMS의 교정 및 이를 이용한 진공 내 나노입자의 실시간 분석 연구

  • 반도체 공정의 발전에 의해 최근 생산되는 메모리 등은 십 수 나노미터까지 좁아진 선 폭을 갖게 되었다. 이러한 이유로, 기존에는 큰 문제를 발생시키지 않던 나노미터 영역의 입자들이 박막 증착 공정과 같은 반도체 제조공정 수율을 저감시키게 되었다. 따라서 오염입자의 유입을 막거나 제어하기 위해 transmission electron microscopy (TEM)나 scanning electron microscopy (SEM)과 같은 전자현미경을 활용한 비 실시간 입자 측정 방법 및 광원을 이용하는 in-situ particle monitor (ISPM) 및 전기적 이동도를 이용한 scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) 등 다양한 원리를 이용한 실시간 입자 측정방법이 현재 사용중에 있다. 이 중 진공 내 입자의 수농도를 측정하기 위해 개발된 particle beam mass spectrometer (PBMS) 기술은 박막 증착 공정 등 chemical vapor deposition (CVD) 방법을 이용하는 진공공정에서 활용 가능하여 개발이 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 PBMS의 한계점인 입자 밀도, 형상 등의 특성분석이 용이하도록 PBMS와 scanning electron microscopy (SEM), 그리고 energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) 기술을 결합하여 입자의 직경별 개수농도, 각 입자의 형상 및 성분을 함께 측정 가능하도록 하였다. 협소한 반도체 제조공정 내부 공간에 적용 가능하도록 기존 PBMS 대비 크기 또한 소형화 하였다. 각 구성요소인 공기역학 집속렌즈, electron gun, 편향판, 그리고 패러데이 컵의 설치 및 물리적인 교정을 진행한 후 입자발생장치를 통해 발생시킨 sodium chloride 입자를 상압 입자 측정 및 분류장치인 SMPS 장치를 이용하여 크기별로 분류시켜 압력차를 통해 PBMS로 유입시켜 측정을 진행하였다. 나노입자의 입경분포, 형상 및 성분을 측정결과를 토대로 장치의 측정정확도를 교정하였다. 교정된 장치를 이용하여 실제 박막 증착공정 챔버의 배기라인에서 발생하는 입자의 수농도, 형상 및 성분의 복합특성 측정이 가능하였으며, 최종적으로 실제 공정에 적용가능하도록 장치 교정을 완료하였다.

  • The dynamic behavior of dry sand under different vibration conditions is studied through laboratory experiments. Sinusoidal and random vibration experiments of sand are carried out in vertical direction under various surcharge loads. Five different sand samples are selected for the azperiment. They are composed of four different -size samples of particles and one sample which is simulated the field condition. In case of sinusoidal vibration, the change in relative density is measured with acceleration levels. To produce an acceleration, the vibration amplitude is maintained within the range of 0.4mm~0.6mm and the vibration frequency is changed within the range of 3Hz~40Hz. In case of random vibration, the combined sinusoidal acceleration is produced by a random vibration generator and the change in relative density is measured by an accelerometer. Based on the experimental results, it is found that the sandy soil is compacted to 94%~99% of relative density by vertical acceleration and the peak acceleration producing the maximum relative density is proportional to the difference between maximum and minimum void ratios. It is also found that the effect of surcharge loading : the greater the surcharge loading, the larger the change in relative density and the greater the acceleration required to change the relative density.

Considerations of Permeability of Converter Slag for Recycling (재활용을 위한 전로슬래그의 투수성 고찰 (I))

  • The permeability of converter slag, replacing material of sand mat on improving soft clay foundation, was evaluated in the laboratory. The effects of grain size, flow water time and aging were investigated using sea and fresh water. In the case of converter slag submerged with fresh water, the coefficients of permeability in A and B samples less than 10 mm grain sizes were measured as $6.52\times10^{-2}cm\; per\; sec\; and\; 5.99\times10^{-1}/cm$ per sec respectively, while they were $1.88\times10^{-2}/cm\; per\; sec,\; 3.86\times10^{-1}/cm$ per sec respectively under sea water condition. Also, the condition of turbulent flow may exit and was experimentally identified from the relationship between hydraulic gradient and seepage velocity. After 100 days under sea water condition, the coefficients of permeability of A and B samples decreased ten times than initial values. The reduction of permeability coefficient was considered to result from the filling of voids in high-calcium quicklime(CaO).

  • This study was conducted to elucidate mixing characteristics of the media to dertermine hydraulic model parameters of the three phase fluidized bed for the water quality management of aquaculture. The volume and H/D ratio of the reactor were 1.76 Liter and 10.9, respectively. The experimental results showed that variance $(\sigma^2)$ and dispersion number $(D/{\mu}L)$ were above 0.47 and $0.35\~\infty$, respectively. Therefore, the condition of the reactor was almost ideal complete mixing. The dependence of the overall oxygen-transfer coefficient $(K_{La})$ on each experimental variables through a multple linear regression was given by the following equation ; $$K_{La}\;=\;44.9(D_i/D_c)^{-0.4611}\;A_f^{0.8622}\;C_m^{-0.0746}\;d_p^{-0.4302}$$

The effect of zeolite addition on floc in activated sludge process (제올라이트 주입이 활성슬러지 플럭에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of zeolite addition on biofloc in aictvated sludge process. Two units were compared each other, in which one was operated as control unit (CU) and the other was managed by adding zeolite into aeration basin to sustain 4,000 mg/l (ZU). It was observed that flocs of both units were enduringly increased in medium size by extending SRT (Solid Retention Time), although their effect size of ZU was smaller than theirs of CU. Zeolite application excessively improved sludge settling property and ZU presented sludge settling velocity of 3.4 to 11 m/h regardless of SRT variation. The sludge volume index (SVI) was in the range of 50 and 108 ml/g. Conversely, the sludge settling velocity of CU seriously depended on SRT increase, and sludge sedimentation was not achieved at a 40 days of SRT due to Sphaerotilus appeared predominantly in reactor.

  • The river water intake system composed of the filter block, without installation of weirs in a channel, was proposed. To apply it to rivers, analysis of hydraulic characteristics is needed. In this study, the hydraulic experiment on the characteristics of flowrate passing through the river water intake system was carried out. The filter block was produced using riprap and stainless steel bead at the channel bottom. The experiment was carried out under various flow conditions and the flowrate passing through the intake system was measured. As the water depth approaching the intake system became deeper, the flowrate diverting to the intake system increased. As the Froude number increased, the flowrate diverting to the intake system decreased. The same trend was shown regardless of the characteristics of a filter block in the intake system. A constant discharge coefficient was shown regardless of the Froude number but it changed according to the size of a riprap and a stainless steel bead in the filter block. It was found that the discharge coefficient increases with the 0.6 power of the material size.

  • 본 연구에서는 여주 등 6개 지점에서 유사의 이동이 활발한 시기인 $6{\sim}9$월에 부유사를 측정하여 하천의 유사량 특성을 파악하였다. 측선 배치는 유사채취의 난이도와 채취시간, 하도의 규모 등을 고려하여 등간격의 5개측선수를 적용하였다. 시료분석은 여과법, BW관법, 체분석법으로 수행하여 유사량 산정을 위한 기초자료로 이용하였고, 또한 부유사와 하상토 입경분포 분석 결과로 $Od{\acute{e}}n$ 곡선와 입경가적곡선을 작성하여 대상 지점의 유사특성을 파악하였다. 유량에 따른 총유사량의 관계를 도출하기 위해서 실측된 부유사와 수리량 자료를 이용하였으며, 유사의 거동을 이론적으로 모형화한 간접법으로 총유사량을 추정하였다. 국내 하천의 특성에 적합한 총유사량 추정방법이 아직까지 개발되지 않고 이에 따른 연구 또한 미진한 관계로 기존의 총유사량 산정공식들 중 국내에서 비교적 널리 적용되고 있는 Modified Einstein 공식을 선정하여 대상 지점에 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 선정한 Modified Einstein 공식으로 추정된 총유사량의 적정성을 검토하기 위한 부가적인 수단으로 Engelund&Hansen(1967년), Yang(1973년, 1979년), Ackers&White(1973년) 공식들을 선정하여 Modified Einstein 공식의 추정치와 그 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 일반적으로 모든 지점에서 Modified Einstein 방법으로 추정된 총유사량이 유량에 따라 변동이 크고 상관성이 낮게 분석되었으며, 그 외 3가지 방법으로 추정된 결과는 다소의 변동폭을 가졌으나 대체로 유량의 증가에 따라 유사량도 증가하는 일정한 경향을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서는 각 지점별 유사 유출량과 비유사량을 산정하기 위해서 유량-부유사량관계곡선식과 유량 수문곡선을 이용하였다. 그 결과, 임진강 수계에 위치한 적성 지점에서 가장 크게 산정되었으며, 구례2 지점에서 가장 적은 값을 가졌다. 6개 지점 중 서로 상 하류 관계를 가지는 낙동과 왜관 지점에서 유사량의 특성 변화를 검토한 결과, 상 하류 간의 반전은 저수위 구간을 제외하고는 발생하지 않았으며, 왜관이 낙동 지점보다 큰 값의 유사 유출량을 나타내었다.

Spray Characteristics of the Oxidizer-rich Preburner Injector in High Pressure Environments (로켓 산화제 과잉 예연소기용 분사기의 고압 분무특성 연구)

  • In the rocket preburner, oxidizer-rich combustion with liquid oxygen and kerosene is very challenging work. The key factor of stable flame is good mixing and that is controlled by the injector performance. We have studied spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich rocket preburner injector in high pressure environments. The injector is composed of fuel orifices, oxidizer orifices and cooling skirt with liquid oxygen. By using this apparatus, we have taken photographs and measured Sauter mean diameter with changing ambient pressure from 0 to 30 kgf/cm2[g]. Droplet diameter is measured by the image processing technique. From the test results, we could understand spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich preburner injector and this result could be applied to the development of the oxidizer rich preburner system.

  • Spray characteristics of liquid jets in crossflow, which can be observed in the liquid jet injection system of a gas turbine or ramjet engine, were experimentally investigated. By measuring liquid jet penetration in the case of single orifice and double orifice injectors, the experimental formula for jet penetration was modified to consider penetration distances greater than that considered in a previous study. The changes in spray characteristics resulting from changes in the liquid jet and crossflow pressure, including SMD and jet disintegration, were carefully studied. Specifically, the jet penetration was measured for different injector shapes, and in the case of a double orifice injector, the penetration of the rear orifice jet was found to be greater by approximately 20% ($L_h$ = 4 mm) compared to that in the case of a single orifice injector because of the influence of the front orifice.
