  • Fetal cerebellum is grow depending on the gestational age, measurement of transverse cerebellar diameter(TCD) is being used import indicator of fetal growth prediction in clinical. In this study, the subjects were normal pregnant women 20~37 week of gestation, and the volume scan was conducted on the 340 subjects. The research reports was indicated by regression curve the growth of fetal TCD in accordance with the gestational age. It got to the value of the results from a linear regression equation. Measurement fetal TCD using 3D US was statistically significant(p<0.001) and useful in the prediction of gestational age. TCD increases with gestational age can also distinguish between the normal fetal and prediction of accurate gestational age of fetal growth retardation. If the basic data of the present study, ongoing research is performed, the TCD using by 3D US are expected to be usefully applied in the correct prediction gestational age.

  • Purpose : A universal standard of the birth weight for gestational age cannot be made since birth weight distribution varies with races, nations and eras. This report aims to establish the birth weight for gestational age patterns by sex, plurality, and parity, specific for Korean live births. Methods : The national birth certificate data of all live births in Korea from January 2000 to December 2004 were used: for live births with gestational age 24 weeks to 42 weeks (n=2,585,5160), mean birth weight, standard deviation and 10th, 25th, 75th and 90th percentile values were obtained for each gestational age group by one week increment. To establish final standard values of Korean birth weight distribution by gestational age, the finite mixture model to eliminated erroneous birth weights was used for respective gestational age. Same as above method the birth weight for gestational age standard by sex, plurality, and parity were completed. Results : The male newborns are more heavier than female during the entire gestational age. The singletons are more heavier than twin during the entire gestational age. The para 2 are more heavier than the para 1 during the entire gestational age. Korean standard was more heavier in 10th and 50th percentile than Lubchenco's standard. Alexander's standard was more heavier in 50th and 90th percentile than Korean standard. Conclusion : These birth weight for gestational age patterns by sex, plurality, and parity are similar to the other standards. I hope that for Korean infants, this curve will help clinicians in defining and managing the large for gestational age infants and also for infants with intrauterine growth retardation.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the appropriateness of transverse cerebellar diameter and abdominal circumference (TCD/AC ratio) as variables to evaluate intrauterine growth restriction of the fetus. From April 2019 to March 2021, 784 pregnant women who underwent ultrasound as a regular checkup at I hospital were retrospectively analyzed using the transverse cerebellar diameter and abdominal circumference measurements. In simple regression analysis, transverse cerebellar diameter and abdominal circumference had an effect of 97.2% and 97.5% on gestational age (p<0.001). In addition, the percentile of the TCD/AC ratio for each gestational age group was calculated through frequency analysis, and the 95th percentile of intrauterine growth restriction prediction was 14.2. As a result, it is thought that the TCD/AC ratio can be used as a useful variable to evaluate the normal growth of the fetus and predict the IUGR.

  • Standard values for fetal bio index measurements should be applied differently depending on the past present and general characteristics of the target population. Therefore, we tried to predict the number of gestational week(GA) and analyze the differences by country based on the measurements of Korean fetal bio index. 480 fetal bio index measurements between 15~38 weeks of pregnancy using ultrasound were compared retrospectively with USA ad Japanese data. One Way ANOVA was used for the analysis of differences by country, and quadratic regression model was designed to predict the GA of fetal bio index in order to predict the standard pregnancy number of Korean fetuses(p<0.005). Mean difference in the 95% confidence interval is BPD was Korea and USA 0.17, Korea and Japan 0.11, AC was Korea and USA -0.35, Korea and Japan 0.42, FL was Korea and USA -0.18, Korea and Japan 0.14. Therefore, fetal bio index for GA predict is considered to be the standard of the fetal growth assessment by applying the country specific standard in consideration of differences between races.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the reference value of the intracranial translucency(IT) of the fetus using the mid sagittal plane of the post brain in the early pregnancy ultrasound screening test and to find the clinical significance. From August 2018 to February 2020, the IT of 1529 singleton fetus whose crown lump length were 40.6 mm to 78.3 mm in length among the mothers undergoing regular checkups at Hospital I were measured and analyzed retrospectively. As the crown lump length increased, the IT showed a 54.3% explanatory power and tended to increase(p<0.001). In addition, through frequency analysis, the standard value for the percentile of the IT by gestational weeks was calculated. As a result, it was possible to establish a standard value for Koreans with an IT, and it will be usefully applied as an auxiliary screening test for spina bifida in the evaluation of fetal post brain in early pregnancy.

  • Birth weight of a new born baby provides very important information in evaluating many clinical issues such as fetal growth restriction. This paper analyzes birth weight data of babies born in Korea from 2011 to 2013, and it shows that there is a biologically implausible distribution of birth weights in the data. This implies that some errors may be generated in the data collection process. In particular, this paper analyzes the relationship between gestational period and birth weight, and it is shown that the birth weight data mostly of gestational periods from 28 to 32 weeks have noticeable errors. Therefore, this paper employs the finite Gaussian mixture model to classify the collected data points into two classes: non-corrupted and corrupted. After the classification the paper removes data points that have been predicted to be corrupted. This adjustment scheme provides more natural and medically plausible percentile values of birth weights for all the gestational periods.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify pregnant women's needs for information on prenatal genetic diagnosis and screening. This study is consisted of two phases. In the first phase in December 2011, six blogs featuring questions and answers on prenatal genetic diagnosis and screening were selected from four major search engines in Korea by using the keywords "prenatal genetic diagnosis," "prenatal genetic screening", and "amniocentesis." An analyzing framework was constructed on the basis of 389 posts on six blogs between November 2006 and October 2011. In the second phase, the contents of the "MomsHolicbaby" blog posted from November 2010 to October 2011 were reviewed. Then, pregnant women's questions on prenatal genetic diagnosis and screening (100 questions) and amniocentesis (200 questions with 1,665 answers) were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Among posters who had ever been recommended to undergo amniocentesis, 56.5% described feelings of anxiety, 25.5% did not know the purpose of the test, and 33.9% refused to undergo the test. Among 295 posters answering questions about amniocentesis, 61.4% disagreed with undergoing the test. The results show that there is a need for healthcare professionals to provide more educational and emotional support to pregnant women considering prenatal genetic diagnosis and screening. Providing online health information can be integrated into prenatal genetic education for pregnant women as well as nurses. In addition, prenatal women's preferences about undergoing amniocentesis should be reflected in the current legal discussion on criteria for termination of pregnancy.
