A convenience sampling method was used to collect data from 216 participants who worked in a university hospital in C city, Chungbuk province. Data were analyzed using SPSS / WIN22.0 program. The significant predictors of Compassion Satisfaction, which is a subdivision of the professional quality of life, include Innovation-oriented culture, marital status, and the relationship - oriented culture. As for secondary traumatic stress, it has the significant predictors such as age, task-oriented culture and hierarchy-oriented culture. Burnout also turns out to be affected by the predictors of relationship - oriented culture, clinical career, and hierarchy-oriented culture. Based on these results, to create a innovation-oriented culture and relation-oriented culture within the organization, it is necessary to develop an intervention program for nurses' recognition change and improvement, in addition, studies that test the clinical effects are needed. In order to secure skilled nurses with rich clinical and career abilities, the working environment and treatment should be improved at the organization level.

Totally, 180 male nursing students having experience in clinical practice from B and U cities, were enrolled as subjects. Data were collected from 15th November to 15th December, 2016. Analysis by t-test, ANOVA & Scheff's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression revealed a mean score of nursing image at 3.95, major satisfaction score of 3.90, and nursing professionalism score of 3.79. The degree of professional awareness amongst the participants was statistically and significantly different, depending on their year of study and the person who had recommended nursing as a career option. Nursing professionalism was highly correlated with the nursing image, and moderately correlated with satisfaction of nursing as a major subject. Results also indicated that 60.6% results indicating nursing professionalism were most significantly influenced by two factors: the image of the nurse, followed by satisfaction of nursing as major. We conclude that to improve the nursing professionalism of male students requires education and strategy to improve their nursing image, and career education and guidance that focuses towards greater satisfaction for their selected major subject.

Methods : Qualitative data were collected via snowball sampling. The participants were nine APNs, six doctors, and three professors. They were divided into three focus groups, each of which consisted of all three types of healthcare providers. Data were collected via interviews with the three focus groups conducted from September to October 2019. All interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data then underwent qualitative content analysis. Results : Based on the data, we extracted four themes and 14 categories. The themes were "Role and system of APNs started according to healthcare environment changes", "Optimal healthcare provider to ensure quality of care", "Confused role and system of APNs due to incomplete medical law", and "Tasks for the stable operation of the APN system." Conclusion : For quality treatment and safety of patients, a legal basis must be established for the APN system. For its stable operation, social consensus regarding legislation about APNs' scope of practice is required. Finally, a discussion is necessary about the integration of APNs' 13 fields.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the nationwide intention to delegate clinical practice of medical specialists in accordance with the enactment of the scope of practice for advanced practice nurses (APNs). Methods: Data were collected from October to December 2021 using Google Surveys. In total, 147 medical specialists from 12 provinces responded to the survey. The survey questionnaire was categorized into four legislative draft duties, according to the scope of practice (a total of 41 tasks): Twenty-nine tasks on treatments, injects, etc., performed under the guidance of a physician and other activities necessary for medical treatment (treatment domain); two tasks on collaboration and coordination; six tasks on education, counseling, and quality improvement; four regarding other necessary tasks. Participants were asked whether they were willing to delegate the tasks to APN. Results: The intention to delegate tasks to APN was higher for non-invasive tasks such as blood sampling (97.3%) or simple dressing (96.6%). Invasive tasks such as endotracheal tube insertion (10.2%), sampling: bone marrow biopsy & aspiration (23.8%) showed low intention to delegate in the treatment domain. Participants who were older, male, and had more work careers with APN, showed a higher intention to delegate tasks. Conclusion: To prevent confusion in the clinical setting, a clear agreement on the scope of APN practice as APN delegated by physicians should be established. Based on this study, legal practices that APN can perform legally should be established.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the relationships between positive nursing organizational culture, organizational communication satisfaction, and the level of work engagement among nurses working in tertiary hospitals, as well as to identify influencing factors on work engagement. Methods: This study used a descriptive research design. Data were collected from 184 general nurses working in four tertiary hospitals in Seoul using self-report questionnaires from March 13 to 30, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression. Results: In the hierarchical regression analysis, the variables that significantly influenced work engagement in Model 1 were marital status (β=.26, p=.002), graduate or higher degree (β=.41, p<.001), more than 1 year and less than 3 years (β=.18, p=.030) and 3 years or more but less than 5 years of clinical experience in present hospital (β=.17, p=.023), and satisfaction (β=.27, p=.002) and moderate satisfaction with pay (β=.18, p=.033). In model 2, adding the subdomains of positive nursing organizational culture and organizational communication satisfaction to the Model 1, the variables that had a significant effect on work engagement were trust-based organizational relationships (β=.50, p<.001) and organizational communication satisfaction (β=.25, p=.005). Conclusion: The results suggest that education level, clinical experience, and satisfaction with pay should be considered to improve nurses' work engagement.
