Experimental verification in the rig test stage for component development is a vital link between the aeromechanical design and structural integrity validation process. Based on this premise, Non-Intrusive Stress Measuring System was adopted on the axial compressor test rig to measure the static and dynamic tip deflection of all blades by using tip-timing sensors. Through analyzing vibration characteristics, we evaluated the vibratory stresses seen on the blades fatigue critical location; detected synchronous resonances which are the source of High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) in blades; presented non-synchronous vibration response by aerodynamic excitation and individual blade mis-tuning patterns.
Compressible gas flow through a convergent-divergent nozzle is choked at the nozzle throat under a certain critical pressure ratio, and then being no longer dependent on the pressure change in the downstream flow field. In practical, the flow field at the divergent part of the critical nozzle can affect the effective critical pressure ratio. In order to investigate details of flow field through a critical nozzle, the present study solves the axisymmetric, compressible, Wavier-Stokes equations. The diameter of the nozzle throat is D=8.26mm and the half angle of the diffuser is changed between $2^{\circ}\;and\;10^{\circ}$ Computational results are compared with the previous experimental ones. The results obtained show that the divergence angle is significantly influences the critical pressure ratio and the present computations predict the experimented discharge coefficient and critical pressure ratio with a good accuracy. It is also found that a nozzle with the half angle of $4^{\circ}$ nearly predicts the theoretical critical pressure ratio.

Supersonic inlet buzz can be defined as unstable subcritical operation associated with fluctuating internal pressures and a shock pattern oscillating about the inlet entrance. The flow pulsations could result in flameout in the combustor or even structural damage to the engine. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the phenomenon of supersonic inlet buzz on axisymmetric, external-compression inlet. An inlet model with a cowl lip diameter of 30mm was tested at a free stream Mach number of 2.0. Subcritical instability was investigated by considering the frequency of pressure pulsation and shock wave structure at the inlet entrance. The results obtained show that total pressure recovery ratios were varied from 0.42 to 0.78, and capture area ratio from 0.34 to 0.98. The frequency of the subcritical flow increased with decrease in capture area ratios. Frequency was measured at $224{\sim}240Hz$.

In order to investigate the operating characteristics of a supersonic steam ejector, the axisymmetric, compressible, Reynolds-averaged, Wavier-Stokes computations are performed using a finite volume method. The secondary and back pressures of the ejector system with a second throat are changed to investigate their effects on the suction mass flow. Three operation modes of the steam ejector system, the critical mode, subcritical mode and back flow mode, are discussed to predict the critical suction mass flow. The present computations are validated with some experimental results. The secondary and back pressures of the supersonic steam ejector significantly affect the critical suction mass flow. The present computations predict the experimented critical mass flow with fairly good accuracy A good correlation is obtained for the critical suction mass flow. The present results show that provided the primary nozzle configuration and secondary pressure are blown, we can predict the critical mass flow with good accuracy.
Abstract This paper presents an efficient cell-based wavelet compression method of large volume data. Volume data is divided into individual cell of {{}} voxels, and then wavelet transform is applied to each cell. The transformed cell is run-length encoded according to the reconstruction order resulting in a fairly good compression ratio and fast reconstruction. A cache structure is used to speed up the process of reconstruction and a threshold normalization scheme is presented to produce a higher quality rendered image. We have combined our compression method with shear-warp factorization, which is an accelerated volume rendering algorithm. Experimental results show the space requirement to be about 27:1 and the rendering time to be about 3 seconds for {{}} data sets while preserving the quality of an image as like as using original data.

This paper studied the effect on the microstructure, electrical properties, and compressive strength of cement mortar containing carbon fiber (CF) and steel fiber (SF), which are conductive materials. The resistivity of conductive fiber-reinforced cement mortar (FRCM) was measured using the 4-probe method, and the compressive strength was measured based on the compression test. Their performance was compared and reviewed with plain mortar (PM). Furthermore, the surface shape and composition of the fracture surface of the conductive FRCM were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an energy disperse X-ray spectrometer (EDS). The results showed that the resistivity gradually increased as the curing time increased in all specimens, whereas the resistivity decreased significantly as the fiber volume fraction increased. Adding steel fibers up to 1.25% did not affect the resistivity of cement mortar considerably. On the contrast, the resistivity of carbon fiber was somewhat decreased even at low contents (ie, 0.1 to 0.3%), and thereafter, it was significantly decreased. The percolation threshold of the conductive CFRCM containing CF used in this experiment was 0.4%, and it is judged to be the optimum carbon fiber dosage to maximize the conductive effect while maintaining the compressive strength performance as much as possible. For the surface shape and composition analysis of conductive FRCM, the fracture surface was observed through SEM-EDS. These results are considered to be very useful in establishing the microstructure mechanism of reinforcing fibers in cement mortars.
In this paper, an effective watermark detection technique in the wavelet transform domain is proposed. In this proposed method, the image is 2-level wavelet transformed, and then the watermark with a binary logo is embedded into middle band except baseband and high band to consider Invisibility and robustness. In this paper, we use an asymmetric thresholds watermarking (ATW) in which detection threshold is higher than inserting threshold in order to enhance watermark detection ratio in attacked images. In watermark detection phase, the detection value is not changed when the difference of the selected wavelet neighboring coefficient pairs Is smaller than specific value. The experimental results show that the proposed method has good quality and is robust to various attacks such as the JPEG lossy compression, noise addition, cropping, blurring, etc.

To theoretically predict knock occurrence in S. I. engine as a function of engine design and operating parameters, transient local temperature and pressure, mixture density of flame front in combustion period are calculated. We next determined normal combustion period and auto ignition period of end gas using the prediction method on occurrence of spark knock which we suggested. We predict knock occurrence in S. I. engine by comparing consecutively normal combustion period with the auto ignition period of end gas in combustion period. Engine design and operating parameters such as compression ratio, engine speed, spark timing, inlet temperature and pressure are taken into account in this calculations. The predicted result are well matched with the experimental results in turbocharged engine. Therefore, this method will provide the systematic guideline for designing engines in view of knocking limits.
A computational study is performed to better understand the choke phenomenon of unsteady gas flow through a critical nozzle. The axisymmetric, unsteady, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations are solved using a finite volume method. In order to simulate the effects of back pressure fluctuations on the critical nozzle flow, a forced sinusoidal pressure wave is assumed downstream the exit of the critical nozzle. It's frequency is 20kHz and amplitude is varied below 15% of time-mean back pressure. The results obtained show that for low Reynolds numbers, the unsteady effects of the pressure fluctuations can propagate upstream of the throat of critical nozzle, and thereby giving rise to applicable fluctuations of mass flow through the critical nozzle. The effect of the amplitude of the excited pressure fluctuations on the choke phenomenon is discussed in details.
