Machined Surface Plastic Strain in Orthogonal Cutting by Subsequent Recrystallizations Technique (연속재결정법에 의한 2차원 절삭가공면의 소성스트레인에 관한 연구)

  • The subsequent recrystallizations technique, and experimental strain measurement method by use of recrystallization phenomena, has been successfully applied for the observation of machined surface plastic zones with equivalent plastic strain .epsilon. .geq. 0.5, 0.12 and 0.02 of type 304 stainless steel. The depth of the zone with .epsilon. .geq. 0.5 is very small, 10-15 .mu. m, while those with .epsilon. .geq. 0.12 are 100-200 .mu. m and 200-450 .mu. m, respectively. The depths increase with increasing depth of cut and with decreasing rake angle. The relation between the depth of the zones and the cutting paramenters is shown. The deformation state ahead of the quick-stop cut was also well visualized by the technique.

  • This article investigates the role of Japan in Korean consumption of Nordic design. In spite of the development of greater access to wide information and global markets, the popular trends in Korea have been mediated by Japan. The cultural power of Japan comes from otaku subculture. Japanese influence can be discussed by two sides. One is the images or symbols composing the Nordic style in Korea. The other is the way how to consume the Nordic design. Japanese neopop images combined with the Nordic design. Japanese 'slow movie' has combined American Kinfolk style with Nordic style. 'Database consumption' from otaku subcultre conceptualized by Azma Hiroki can be applied to Korean consumption of Nordic design.

Calculating Sea Surface Wind by Considering Asymmetric Typhoon Wind Field (비대칭형 태풍 특성을 고려한 해상풍 산정)

  • Sea surface wind is an important variable for elucidating the atmospheric-ocean interactions and predicting the dangerous weather conditions caused by oceans. Accurate sea surface wind data are required for making correct predictions; however, there are limited observational datasets for oceans. Therefore, this study aimed to obtain long-period high-resolution sea surface wind data. First, the ERA5 reanalysis wind field, which can be used for a long period at a high resolution, was regridded and synthesized using the asymmetric typhoon wind field calculated via the Generalized Asymmetric Holland Model of the numerical model named ADvanced CIRCulation model. The accuracy of the asymmetric typhoon synthesized wind field was evaluated using data obtained from Korea Meteorological Administration and Japan Meteorological Administration. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the asymmetric typhoon synthetic wind field reproduce observations relatively well, compared with ERA5 reanalysis wind field and symmetric typhoon synthetic wind field calculated by the Holland model. The sea surface wind data produced in this study are expected to be useful for obtaining storm surge data and conducting frequency analysis of storm surges and sea surface winds in the future.

Estimation of Typhoon Center Using Satellite SAR Imagery (인공위성 SAR 영상 기반 태풍 중심 산정)

  • Global warming and rapid climate change have long affected the characteristics of typhoons in the Northwest Pacific, which has induced increasing devastating disasters along the coastal regions of the Korean peninsula. Synthetic Aperature Radar (SAR), as one of the microwave sensors, makes it possible to produce high-resolution sea surface wind field around the typhoon under cloudy atmospheric conditions, which has been impossible to obtain the winds from satellite optical and infrared sensors. The Geophysical Model Functions (GMFs) for sea surface wind retrieval from SAR data requires the input of wind direction, which should be based on the accurate estimation of the center of the typhoon. This study estimated the typhoon centers using Sentinel-1A images to improve the problem of typhoon center detection method and to reflect it in retrieving the sea surface wind. The results were validated by comparing with the typhoon best track data provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), and also by using infrared images of Himawari-8 satellite. The initial center position of the typhoon was determined by using VH polarization, thereby reducing the possibility of error. The detected center showed a difference of 23.76 km on average with the best track data of the four typhoons provided by the KMA and JMA. Compared to the typhoon center estimated by Himawari-8 satellite, the results showed an average spatial variation of 11.80 km except one typhoon located near land with a large difference of 58.73 km. This result suggests that high-resolution SAR images can be used to estimate the center and retrieve sea surface wind around typhoons.

Ocean Surface Winds Over the Seas Around Korea Measured by the NSCAT(NASA Scatterometer) (NSCAT (NASA Scatterometer)에 의한 한국근해의 해상풍)

  • The NSCAT(NASA Scatterometer) carried by the japanese Advanced Earth Observing Satellite(ADEOS) was the first high resolution(25 km) device for the direct wind measurement over the ocean. Even it was ceased to operate in lune of 1977 because of the power failure, it gave the first opportunity to the marine meteorologists to study the direct measured ocean wind during its 9 months of operation, especially around Korea. This study is to show monthly mean ocean wind and wind stress curl fields around Korea from January, 1997 to June, 1997. Mean ocean winds in January are predominantly northwesterly and the strongest wind(12 m/s) is found near Vladivostok. The winds in the western East Sea are strongly inf1uenced by the mountain range in Korea and these topographically influenced winds make about five times larger wind stress curl fields than previous estimates based on the weather maps. The calculation of Sverdrup transport in the East Sea shows the possibility of the directional change of the East Korean Cold Current from southward to northward direction caused by the winter wind. The downwelling area near North Korea has maximum estimated speed of 45 m in january and this wind induced downwelling makes good condition for the formation of Intermediate East Sea Water together with vigorous mixing by the strong wind.

  • The purpose of this comparative study what is the way to express difference fashion design between Japanese fashion designers and Western fashion designers in the 1990s. The design data were 422 pictures of contemporary fashion designs which represented the Japanism style design from fashion collections and analyzed by literature study and classification categories. The results were as follows : 1) Early general Japanism expression was directly borrowed from traditional fashion design elements and has changed indirectly with fashion trend. 2) Japanese fashion designers have used color, fabric, and pattern than shape to express Japanese traditional images. 3) Western fashion designers have directly borrowed aesthetic elements of Kimono design, that is, layering. bending, neck-line, sleeve, and traditional Japanese men's wear to express Japanism.

  • This study aims at investigating Geisha costume hidden in the history until now and how the fashion of Geisha style is expressed in accordance with character through the movie 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. Major contents of the text consist of studies including the historical background and characteristics of Geisha costume in Chapter 2, the Japanese style expressed in the movie through the analysis of the work in Chapter 3, The movie brought in an opportunity to spread the mysterious culture and art of Japan to the world, making Japanese style an important interest in the world of fashion as well. In a way to study this, the investigation was carried out through literature data, DVD and newspaper of , fashion magazine, articles from the Internet, ete. The Geisha trend has made the hot blast blown harder in such ways to affect not only fashion but also cosmetics, electronic appliance, interior, etc. In S/S 2006, it was not limited to the Japanese style but diffused to the Orientalism in China, India, Korea, etc. It can be said that this study has its significance to be a starting point in investigating the special characters of Japanese Geisha costume hidden up to now. In the studies following in the future, the formative beauty demonstrated per Japanese designer needs to be more studied. Furthermore, it seems noteworthy to analyze and compare Chosun Dynasty's Kisaeng with Japanese Geisha.

  • 한국에 이륜차가 소개된 것은 일차 경제개발 5개년계획이 시작된 1962년부터이며 초기 기아산 업에서 차체일부를 제외한 KD부품을 일본 본전기연으로부터 수입하여 조립 생산하였으며, 1975년 6월까지 약 14년간 총 93,000대를 생산한 후 1975년 7월부터 기아기연이 별도 법인으로 설립되면서부터 본격적으로 생산이 증가하게 되었고 1979년까지 독점 공급하게 되어 당시 년산 10만대를 돌파하게 되었다. 이때부터 국내 여러 업체가 출현하여 경합시대에 들어갔다. 즉, 1979년 한국 제네랄모페드(GMK)에서 이태리 Minarelli로부터 엔진 23,700대를 도입 유럽풍의 모페드(Moped)를 조립 생산하기 시작하였으나 1983년부터는 생산이 중단되었다. 1980년대는 대 림공업과 효선기계에서 각각 이륜차를 생산하기 시작하였다. 대림공업은 일본 "호다까"로부터 설비 및 기술을 도입하였으며, 효성기계 역시 일본 "스즈끼"로부터 기술을 도입하였다. 같은 해 진주 소재 동야정기에서는 서독으로부터 Sachs 엔진 6,600대를 도입하여 모페드(Crown)를 생산 판매하였으나 1982년부터 생산을 중단하였다. 다음 해인 1981년 마신산업은 이태리 피아지 오(Piaggio)로부터 엔진을 도입하여 125cc 급스쿠터를 생산하기 시작하였다. 1980년도에는 5개 업체가 이륜차 생산에 참가하였으나 자연소멸되고 또 81년 2월 28일 자동차산업 합리화조치로 대림공업과 기아기연이 합병되어 대림자동차공업(주)가 1982년 4월 설립됨으로써 현재는 효성 기계, 마신산업과 함께 3개업체가 존재하고 있다. 1975년에는 불과 3개 모델뿐이던 것이 79년 에는 5개 모델, 지금은 30개의 모델을 3개 업체에서 생산하고 있으며 그 동안 없어진 모델이 18개기종이 된다.
