Considering that the weight of a biaxial hollow slab system is not increased with an incremental increase in its thickness, and that the flexural stiffness of a biaxial hollow slab is not significantly lower than that of a general solid slab, there has been a growing need for biaxial hollow slab systems, because long span structures are in great demand. In a long span structure, the problem of vibration of floor slabs frequently occurs, and the dynamic characteristics of a biaxial hollow slab system are quite different from the conventional floor systems. Therefore, in this study, the floor vibration of a biaxial hollow slab system subjected to walking load is investigated in comparison with a conventional floor slab system. For the efficiency of time history analysis, an equivalent plate slab model that can precisely represent the dynamic behavior of a biaxial hollow slab system is used. From the analytical results, it was determined that vibration of a biaxial hollow slab system subjected to walking load is evaluated as "office-level vibration," according to the classifications of the architectural institute of Japan and ANSI.
Since the Northridge earthquake (1994) and Kobe earthquake (1995), the concept of performance-based design has been actively introduced to design major structures and buildings. Recently, the seismic design code was established for fire protection facilities. Therefore, the important fire protection facilities should be designed and constructed according to the seismic design code. Accordingly, uniform hazard spectra (UHS), with annual exceedance probabilities, corresponding to the performance level, such as operational, immediate occupancy, life safety, and collapse prevention, are required for performance-based design. Using the method of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA), the uniform hazard spectra for 5 major cities in Korea with a recurrence period of 500, 1,000, and 2,500 years corresponding to frequencies of (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0)Hz and PGA, were analyzed. The expert panel was comprised of 10 members in seismology and tectonics. The ground motion prediction equations and several seismo tectonic models suggested by 10 expert panel members in seismology and tectonics were used as the input data for uniform hazard spectrum analysis. According to sensitivity analysis, the parameter of spectral ground motion prediction equations has a greater impact on the seismic hazard than seismotectonic models. The resulting uniform hazard spectra showed maximum values of the seismic hazard at a frequency of 10Hz and also showed the shape characteristics, which are similar to previous studies and related technical guides for nuclear facilities.
Among non-destructive tests for compressive strength, rebound number test and pulse velocity test are the most widely used methods. However, the non-destructive tests mostly used in Korea was developed by foreign country. Therefore, it is unreasonable to directly apply them to concrete structures in Korea. In accordance with the suggestion of Institute of Architecture in Japan for rebound number test, a compressive strength is calculated by the mean value of 20 hit points without being considered standard deviation. Furthermore, there is no regulation on the number of measurements required for measuring compressive strength by pulse velocity test. This study, therefore, reviewed the rebound number test and pulse velocity test by chi-square, and suggested the minimum number of each test. As a result, the minimum number that falls within range of reliability for rebound number test and pulse velocity test are 11 and 7, respectively. If abnormal values are processed as missing and test groups are assumed to be arrayed in cross by considering changes in quality of actual concrete structures, 20 times and 9 times are appropriate for rebound number test and pulse velocity test, respectively.
Since the Northridge earthquake in 1994 and the Kobe earthquake in 1995 occurred, the concept of performance based design has been introduced for designing various kinds of important structures and buildings. Uniform hazard spectra (UHS), with annual exceedance probabilities, corresponding to the performance level of each structure, are required for performance-based design. The probabilistic seismic hazard analysis was performed using spectral ground motion prediction equations, which were developed from both Korean Peninsula and Central and Eastern US region, and several seismotectonic models suggested by 10 expert panel members in seismology and tectonics. The uniform hazard spectra for 5 highly populated cities in Korea, with recurrence period of 500, 1,000, and 2,500 years using the seismic hazard at the frequencies of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0 Hz and Peak ground acceleration (PGA) were analyzed using the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. The sensitivity analysis suggests that spectral ground motion prediction equations impact much more on seismic hazard than what seismotectonic models do. The uniform hazard spectra commonly showed a maximum hazard at the frequency of 10 Hz and also showed the similar shape characteristics to the previous study and related technical guides to nuclear facilities.
Yellow-hearted pine (YHP; Pinus densiflora for. erecta Uyeki) is one of the Red pine species and has extremely narrow growth ring and high ratio of heartwood growing in Korea. It has been used for valuable wooden constructions as palace and temple for royal family since the Joseon Dynasty period. However, scientific information on the wood properties of YHP is still very lacking. This study was carried out to investigate natural durability of YHP to fungi and termites attack. Examination of anti-fungal and anti-termite properties of YHP was performed at indoor condition using brown-rot fungi (Fomitopsis palustris), white-rot fungi (Trametes versicolor), and termite (Reticulitermes speratus). The results showed that weight loss of the heartwood in YHP after fungi and termite test was much lower than those of the sapwood in YHP. Furthermore, the highest mortality of termite was obtained from the heartwood of YHP. Consequently, it is clearly revealed that the heartwood of YHP has excellent durability against brown- and white-rot fungi and termite.

This study investigated the process of change of 32 urban parks designated during the period of Japanese colonial rule according to growth and development of the city in Busan. Particularly, researching included analyizing books, notification, data, and documents relevant to the history of urban planning published by Busan city. As a result, Daejeong Park, Gokwan Park, and Yongdusan Park had been utilized by Japanese residents under the Japanese colonial rule before planning of urban parks, and 32 parks legally specified in 1944 were planned by considering the prevention against disasters. After emancipation, there were an unauthorized building, housing construction, business district, public office, and school facility in the sites of the parks due to the influence of the Korean War and reorganization of urban planning. The majority of parkways and small parks downtown were eliminated. However, unexecuted parks that the government had designed on the edge of town during the Japanese colonial period have become major parks downtown through the city's growth. Yeonji Park, Yangjeong Park, and Danggok Park have been being building as a business of parks for a comfortable city, forming downtown along with the Green-Busan Policy. Thus, 32 parks designated under the Japanese colonial rule have made or got out of use reflecting on the phases of the times of modern Korean society. It turns out that these parks need an investigation about condition for land possession and purchase of the site of the parks in order for social common capital.

Recently, patent information related to building information modeling (BIM) has been increasing owing to BIM adoption within the construction sector. However, only a few research studies have focused on identifying trends in the domestic and foreign BIM technology based on comprehensive and objective data. Therefore, this study aims to analyze technical competitiveness in the global BIM market using patent information. The patent information is compiled from WIPSON and consists of 73 South Korea, 59 USA, 206 China, and 31 Japan applications. Based on patent information, this study objectively observes domestic and foreign technological BIM trends. As a result of the technology entry analysis by the year, starting from physics (G section) to electricity (H section), the performing operations (B section), and the fixed structure (E section) has been expanded gradually. According to the portfolio analysis, the BIM patent is currently in its early stage of development. Through this research, utilizing patents as a basis for future development will be expected to consult with the differentiation of strategy and setting of direction.
In this paper, the changes of the period of cold weather concrete in Korea with the elapse of age are discussed to investigate the influence of elapse of age on period of cold weather concrete. The climate data of Korean Meteorological Administration(KMA) ranging from 1971 to 2000 was used. The period of cold weather concrete was calculated by following the specification of Korea Concrete Institute(KCI), American Concrete Institute(ACI) and Architectural Institute of Japan(AIJ), respectively. Previous research by the authors used the climate dada of KMA from 1961 to 1990 and research conducted by Kim M.H. used the climate data from 1931 to 1980 were also compared with the period of present paper. According to the results, in present paper, the period of cold weather concreting by KCI was calculated about 95days on average and the period by ACI was 101 days on average and the period by AIJI was 92days on average. For the variation of the period with the elapse of time, the period of cold weather concrete by KCI and ACI in present paper was shortened by as much as 5${\~}$6days compared with that of previous paper 10years ago. However, the period of cold weather concreting by AIJ did not exhibit a marked reduction in the period compared with that of previous paper by the author. But the period by Kim following AIJ exhibited a decrease in the period compared to the period by present paper by as much as 3days. For regional influence, the period of cold weather concreting in southern part of Korea was found to be much shorter than those at northern part. This may be due to the rising of mean temperature caused by global warming effect.
Recently, in many laboratories and institutes it is being studied on the high flowing concrete widely, which has high fluidity, non-segregation ability and fillingability, and sometimes being applied to the construction field actually. And the fluidity properties of high flowing concrete are influenced according to the several factors ; binder content, water/binder ratio and water content etc. This is an experimental study to compare and analyze the effect of water/binder ratio and water content on the properties of high flowing concrete. For this purpose, the mix proportion of high flowing concrete according to water/binder ratio(W/B : 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45) and water content (W : 155, 165, 175, 185 kg/㎥) was selected. And then slump-flow, V-lot, L-passing test in fresh concrete, and compressive strength, freezing and thawing test in hardened concrete were peformed. According to test results, it was found that the viscosity of all those high flowing concrete with the water content 175 kg/㎥ was satisfied with 50 cm pass time of slump flow prescribed by Japanese Architectural Standard Specification (JASS 5) - from 3 to 8 seconds. And non-segregation ability of concrete with W/B 0.35 was better than the other mix proportions. Especially, the compressive strength after curing 24 hours(1 day) of all high flowing concrete was higher than that prescribed by JASS 5(50 kgf/㎠).

The carbonation velocity is produced an effect on carbon dioxide($CO_2$) density of surrounding near structures, the concrete quality and types of structures and this study was accomplished to draw a conclusion for estimated formula of carbonation velocity coefficient with various factors by the concrete quality on the base of the data of the durability surveyed in Korea. From the results of analysis of carbonation velocity, the followings were appeared. It is analyzed that carbonation velocity of the structures under urban area is 1.5 times faster than the rural area in the bridges case and it is 2.5 times faster than the rural area in the tunnels case. And the order of carbonation velocity of the structures under urban area is the buildings, the tunnels, the bridges and they are evaluated to progress about 2.7 times and 1.3 times faster than the bridges. In the rural area, the bridges are evaluated to progress about 1.3 times faster than the tunnels and it is analyzed that the carbonation velocity of the upper structures of the bridges under urban area is about 1.3 times faster than lower structures. The results which is compared to estimated formula of carbonation velocity coefficient of Kishitani equation which is generally applied for convert compressive strength into W/C ratios, most of those velocity of structures is faster than the results of Kishitani equation.
