A Comparative Analysis on the Operating System of Urban Railway & Conventional·High speed Railway (도시철도와 일반·고속철도의 운영방식에 관한 비교 분석)

  • Generally, Urban railway have special characteristics with short distance journey and minimum headway intercity transportation. These days, urban railway operators choose the driverless operation system without driver. On the contrary, Conventional & high speed railway utilize for long distance and high speed running. Because of special conditions of freight railway operation compared with urban railway, operation of conventional & high speed railway is showed very different characteristics. In this paper, We compares different operation scheme of urban railway and conventional & high speed railway and then present condition for train control system based on radio.

  • 일반적으로 철도수요를 추정할 때에는 매표실적에 근거한 직접수요모형(Direct Demand Model)을 많이 사용하여왔다. 고속철도가 2004년 4월 개통됨으로써 실행된 수요가 나옴에 따라 이를 이용하여 KTX와 일반철도를 고려한 직접수요모형의 작성이 가능하게 되었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고속철도 운행 전${\cdot}$후의 실제수요를 이용하여 고속철도 개통 전${\cdot}$후의 직접수요모형을 추정하여보았다. 모형에 사용되는 변수로는 철도서비스, 사회경제지표 등을 사용하였다. 그 중 철도서비스, 즉 운행시간, 운행빈도, 운임 등을 집중적으로 사용하여 모형을 작성하였다. 이렇게 작성된 모형은 KTX와 일반철도, 일반철도 등급간에서 철도서비스 변수의 기여를 명시적으로 제시해준다. 개발된 모형을 이용하여 KTX 및 일반철도의 운행방향에 대하여 검토하였다.

Management Planning of Gondola Cars through Efficiency Analysis (효율성 분석을 통한 무개차 운용 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the demand for rail freight has gradually decreased. In particular, the demand in Korea for open freight cars, which classification includes gondola cars, hopper cars and gravel cars has been significantly reduced. The role of gondola cars in the rail transportation market shrank to 14.5% in 2010 from 23.3% in 2001. The transportation demand of gondola cars in the long term is expected to be reduced further. Because some gondola cars have been converted to container cars and various containers are being developed to transport bulk cargo by container cars. However, gondola cars still play an important role in rail freight transport. Therefore, the management planning of gondola cars is needed in order to prepare for the long-term declining demand. In this study, we propose a future direction for the management planning of gondola cars through the effectiveness analysis of gondola cars operation.

Experimental Evaluation for Damping Ratio Limit of Railway Bridge according to Structure Types (철도교량 구조형식별 감쇠비 하한값 산정을 위한 시험적 연구)

  • The damping ratio of railway bridge has become one of the most important issues in dynamic design and dynamic stability of railway bridge. In the present study, laboratory and field test were performed for railway bridges such as a twin I-shaped steel composite girder, PSC box, steel box, PSC, IPC, PRECOM, preflex. The damping ratio of railway bridge according to structure types was estimated by logarithmic decrement method. Therefore, magnitude, frequency and amplitude of load did not affect damping ratio of railway bridge. Also, damping ratio limit of steel composite and PSC bridges was evaluated in 1.0%.

Comparison of Girder Height and Construction Cost by Span in Various Types of Railway Bridge (철도교량형식의 경간에 따른 형고 및 공사비 비교연구)

  • The superstructure type of the railway bridge in our country, is mainly classified into the box girder and the I-type girder. The box girder is widely used in the high speed railway bridge because of the safety due to dynamic behavior. The I-type girder is used in the conventional railway bridge, and is also divided into the general type and the composite type, and the newly modified types have been developed. According to the current railway bridge design code, the girder design by the span length in various types of railway bridge is performed in is study. The suitable girder height and the construction cost by the span length are analyzed, and the comparative analysis of the structural efficiency and the economical efficiency is carried out. From this study, the composite type girder is appeared the good result in respect of the structural efficiency. However, in the economical aspect, the general I-type girder is required less cost than the other types.

  • Based on Korean railway design standards, the thicknesses of the reinforced roadbeds of conventional and high speed railways are different, and so too, for the size distribution of the ballast particles. Accordingly, considerable cost would be required to increase operating speeds of conventional lines, in particular related to changing from a ballasted track system to a ballastless one. In this study, applicability of a roadbed which supports conventional ballasted track, for use as a ballastless track for a high speed rail line was examined. A reinforced roadbed for a conventional railway is 20cm thick, and the type of material used for a conventional reinforced roadbed is M-40 (crushed gravel for road embankments). A dynamics test was conducted to evaluate the occurrence of the permanent settlement of the track substructure. These results suggest that, without changes to the track substructure, an operational speed of 400km/h is feasible with a ballastless track. This result; however, is from laboratory experiments. Further studies, such as numerical analyses or field validation, are required.

The Fatigue Life Evaluation of CWR based on the Rail Grinding (레일연마를 고려한 장대레일의 피로수명 평가)

  • In this study, vehicle/track interaction analysis by the Saemaul powered vehicle was carried out. The prediction equation for the bending stress of rail was estimated using the rail bending stress by the rail surface irregularities at welds. Also, the fatigue analysis using a S-N curve of welds in the conventional railway was carried out. We estimated the fatigue life of CWR by the fracture probability. By the rail grinding, the fatigue life of CWR was evaluated in consideration to reduce the rail bending stress through removing the rail surface irregularities. Therefore, it presented the fatigue life of CWR according to the rail grinding execution plan in the conventional railway.

A Study on the Status Quo of Short-term Operation and Issues of KTX (개통 초기의 KTX 운영현황 및 문제점 고찰)

  • 본 연구는 지속적인 여객 및 화물량의 증가로 기존 수송수단이 포화에 이른 실정에 새로운 교통수단으로 추진한 고속철도 사업에 대해, 고속철도 개통 후 단기간에 드러난 이용현황 및 문제점을 도출해 기선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 관련 단체 및 기관의 자료를 수집 분석하였으며, 설문조사를 수행하여 결과를 도출하였다. 또한 광범 위한 고속철도 사업의 특성아래 여객 부문에 대한 대중교통 측면으로 연구의 범위를 한정하였다. 고속철도 개통 후, 여객 및 화물 수송의 형태에는 단기간이나마 큰 변화가 있는 것으로 나타났으나 그에 반해 고속철도의 이용에 있어서 주목할 만한 문제점 또한 조사되었다. 주요 사항으로는 역방향 유해성, 일반열차로의 불편전이, 터널통과시의 소음 등으로서 이는 개통 초기 고속철도에 대한 그릇된 대국민 인식을 가져오게 함과 동시에 향후 개인들간 교통수단 선택에 있어서까지 그릇된 영향을 끼칠 수 있다. 현재 각각의 문제점에 대한 개선방안으로 일반열차 확대 및 할인혜택, 점진적인 순방향 좌석으로서 교체 및 소음 저감방안을 위한 연구 용역 등이 실행되거나 준비되고 있으나 그에 대한 뚜렷한 개선 징후는 아직 미미한 상태로 분석되고 있다. 본 연구에서 실시한 설문조사 결과 아직까지는 고속철도에 대한 인식이 긍정적인 수준을 보이고 있으나 개별 문제점에 대한 좀더 깊은 고찰과 개선안 제시가 이루어진다면 향후 고속철도에 대한 대국민 인식을 한 단계 더 높여, 그 이용을 활성화 시킬 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 판단된다.
