캐나다에 본사를 두고 있는 코렐사가 드디어 새로운 버전인 코렐드로우 11 인터내셔널 버전을 출시하였다. 코렐사의 한국 수입사인 주식회사 예스디지털(대표이사 김성순)은 지난 9월부터 새로운 버전 코렐드로우 11을 출시, 국내 총공급사인 코렐코리아를 통해 본격 공급에 나섰다.

키 1m65cm, 몸은 마리린 먼로형, 어깨는 팔등신, 얼굴은 항상 웃음이 깃들여 있고 두툼한 입술, 오똑한 코, 눈은 샛별처럼 빛나게, 마음씨 착하고 인자하며 한남편만 섬기게, 물론 머리는 수재급으로ㅡ.세상의 모든 여성은 미스인터내셔널급, 남성도 마찬가지. 인간의 계속적인 개조는 신과 같은 슈퍼맨을 탄생케 할는지 모른다. 그러나 이는 유전공학에 거는 먼 인류의 꿈이다. 하지만 21세기에는 유전공학산업이 오늘의 전자산업에 버금갈 큰 산업이 될 것은 틀림없다. 이에 따라 세계는 유전공학연구에 큰 돈을 쏟고 있다. 유전공학이란 무엇인가. 유전공학의 정체에서 핵심기술의 응용, 나아가서 인간복제의 가능성과 이에 따른 역기능 등을 총정리해 본다.

조선일보사, 디지틀조선일보, 교육인적자원부, 미디어라이브인터내셔널이 주최한‘디지털 라이프 2004(Digital Life 2004)’가 지난달 19일 성황리에 막을 내렸다. 기존‘컴덱스 코리아 2004’에서‘디지털 라이프 2004’라는 새로운 이름으로 펼쳐진 이번 행사는 IT기업관, e러닝 특별관, eSports관-서울게임쇼 등 세가지 테마로 구성됐으며, 예년과 달리 비즈니스데이와 퍼블릭데이로 각각 이틀씩 나눠 진행돼 일반인들도 가까이 다가설 수 있었다.

BSA(Business Software Alliance)는 미국의 시장 조사기관인 인터내셔널 플래닝&리서치(IRP)사에 의뢰해 각국의 소프트웨어 판매자료 및 시장정보를 바탕으로 사무용 소프트웨어 불법복제 실태를 조사했다. IPR의 조사방법 등 BSA 서베이의 신뢰성에 대한 의문과 BSA 회원사 10여개 업체들이 제공한 자료의 신뢰성에 대해 의문의 여지는 남아있다. 각 업계마다 자사의 매출 발표시 조금은 부풀려지는 수치들에 대한 정확한 확인, 자사 소프트웨어의 홍보를 위해 불법복제를 방조하는 현상들에 대해 고려된 조사인가 라는 측면에서 볼 때 100% 자유로울 수 없다는 지적들이 나오고 있다. 하지만 각 연도별 우리나라를 비롯한 정부의 활동과 소프트웨어 불법복제 단속과의 상관관계는 IPR의 조사결과에 신뢰성을 더해주고 있다. 이에 세계적으로 소프트웨어 산업의 균형발전을 위해 비영리단체로 설립된 BSA의 조사결과를 게재한다.

Hybridization is a major production method used to combine beneficial traits from two different species to obtain a potentially dominant trait. In China, Takifugu obscurus and T. rubripes were artificially crossed, and the resulting hybrids had an average body weight 38.06-8.93% higher than that of the parental species, which enabled the hybrids to be grown in freshwater. This study aimed to provide the basic data necessary for the classification of T. obscurus♀×T. rubripes♂ hybrids in terms of economic value and market potential. Morphological comparing the morphology of hybrids and parental species, we discovered that the hybrids had intermediate traits of the parental species. In morphometrics, the hybrid index (HI) value of head length against standard length was close to the trait of T. rubripes, and the HI values of preanal length and predorsal length were close to those of T. obscurus; however, the HI values of nasal length, snout length, length of anal fin, length of pectoral fin, caudal peduncle depth and caudal peduncle length were found to be unique characteristics of the hybrids. Regarding molecular analysis, a 99.8% nucleotide sequence similarity was found between the hybrid and T. obscurus.

본 논문은 2016년 맨부커 인터내셔널상(The Man Booker International Prize)을 수상한 The Vegetarian을 둘러싼 언론과 학계의 엇갈린 평가와 오역논란을 살펴보았다. 한강의 "채식주의자"와 데버러 스미스(Deborah Smith)의 The Vegetarian을 분석한 결과, The Vegetarian에서 다수의 오역사례를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 논문은 단순 오역 지적을 넘어 스미스가 '오역'하게 된 경위를 역으로 짚어 봄으로써 The Vegetarian 이 번역이 아닌 로컬리제이션(localization)으로 방향을 설정한 영어 현지화 텍스트임을 밝힌 데 의의가 있다. 결론에서는 스미스의 "채식주의자" 다시쓰기(rewriting)인 The Vegetarian의 성과를 논하고 독자 선택을 돕는 번역 방법을 제시함으로써 향후 한국문학의 영어번역이 나아갈 방향을 제안한다.

제 2차 세계대전 이후 후기 자본주의 사회적 이익의 관심 속에서 인터내셔널 스타일이라고 불리우는 통속적 기능주의가 발전되었다. 그러나 이 통속적 기능주의는 오로지 비인간적 상업주의만을 반영함으로써, 정신 심리적이고 사회적인 문제들만을 야기 시켰다. 그 결과로, 60년대 중반에, 독일 건축과 디자인 분야에서 일어난 (일련의 68 운동으로서) 기능주의 비판운동이 전개되었다. 그리고 이 기능주의 비판운동은 70년대에도 지속되어져, 확장된 기능주의의 형성에 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 이 확장된 기능주의는 대량생산-대량소비사회의 사용과정 속에서의 기능들의 개념정의에 그 기초를 두고 있다. 그리고 이 기능들, 즉 실제적 기능, 이론적 기능, 생태적 기능, (형태)미적 기능, 지시적 기능, 상징적 기능은 오늘날 독일 디자인 실무분야에서 분석과 개발과정에 핵심적인 판단기준이 되어왔다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the legislation types and prescriptions of American earth building codes. The process of this study is as follows: (1) To understand the legislation background of American earth building codes, this study investigated the history and present state of earth building techniques which is used in USA. (2) To understand the legislation method and procedure of American earth building codes, this study investigated the legislation system of American building codes and the process of model building codes development and adoption. (3) To provide basic data for the legislation of Korean earth building codes or guidelines, this study analyzed American earth building codes about adobe, compressed earth block and rammed earth. The result of this study is as follows: (1) To meet need of a single coordinated set of national model building codes in the United States, the nation's three model code groups decided to form the International Code Council and the first edition of the International Building Code was published in 1997. In the International Building Code there are prescriptions on adobe construction. (2) There are three legislation types of earth building codes in USA. First is to use prescriptions of International Building Code on adobe construction. Second is that State governments establish and issue a separate document under its own title. The last is that local jurisdictions adopt International Building Code with amendments or additional rules. (3) On the base of analysis of American earth building codes, this study proposed the legislation process and direction of Korean earth building codes and guidelines.
