Performance of Digital Predistorter in Non-linearly Amplified Land Mobile Satellite Channel (비선형 증폭된 육상이동 위성채널에서 디지털 전왜곡기의 성능)

  • In this paper, two kinds of digital predistorters are proposed and their performances are analyzed in order to minimize ACI and SNR degradation caused by nonlinearly amplified TC-16QAM signal and to transmit high speed data in power and bandwidth limited land mobile satellite channel. Our simulation results show that LUT predistorter reduces the out-of-band ACI more efficiently as compared to intersymbol interpolated predistorter. Regarding the reduction of in-band SNR and total power intersymbol interpolated predistorter outperforms LUT predistorter. In the simulation mobile satellite channel and nonlinear HPA are modeled by Rician channel and Fujitsu SSPA, respectively.

Modeling of Memory Effects in Power Amplifiers Using Advanced Three-Box Model with Memory Polynomial (전력 증폭기의 메모리 효과 모델링을 위한 메모리 다항식을 이용한 향상된 Three-Box 모델)

  • This paper suggests an improved system-level model of RF power amplifiers(PAs) including memory effects, and validates the suggested model by analyzing the power spectral density of the output signal with a predistortion linearizer. The original three-box(Wiener-Hammerstein) model uses input and output filters to capture RF frequency response of PAs. The adjacent spectral regrowth that occurs in three-box model can be perfectly removed by Hammerstein structure predistorter. However, the predistorter based on Hammerstein structure achieves limited performance in real PA applications due to other memory effects except RF frequency response. The spectrum of the output signal can be predicted accurately using the suggested model that changes a memoryless block in a three-box model with a memory polynomial. The proposed model accurately predicts the output spectrum density of PA with Hammerstein structure predistorter with less than 2 dB errors over ${\pm}30$ MHz adjacent channel ranges for IEEE 802.11 g WLAN signal.

  • In this paper, we analyze the maximum allowable transmitting output level of transmitter, which meets the required interference probability, in order to get the method that different communication systems can be existed and used simultaneously in adjacent channels. We analyze the performance result according to various density of interfering transmitter and transmitter output in hetero systems. In order to get the relationship with between density of interfering transmitter and transmitter output, we consider WiBro as an interfering transmitter, WLAN as a victim receiver and Extended Hata and IEEE 802.11 model as a channel environment respectively. Analyzed coexistence results may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.

  • Recent advances in information technology have resulted in rapid growth in the mobile communication. With this explosive growth, reliable transmission and error concealment technique become increasingly important to offer high quality multimedia services. In this paper, we propose an improved BMA(Boundary Matching Algorithm) method using gradient vectors to conceal channel errors in inter-frames of H.264 video images. General BMA method computes the sum of pixel differences of adjacent pixels of the candidate block and its neighbouring blocks, assuming that adjacent pixels have almost the same value. In real images, however, there exist some gradients, which means that the pixel values are increasing or decreasing in a specific direction. In this paper, we develop a precise estimation method of errors in candidates blocks using gradient information and try to recover lost blocks with this technique. Experimental results show the improvement of picture quality about $1{\sim}3dB$ compared to existing methods.

  • A candidate hybrid satellite and terrestrial network architecture, MSS/ATC(Mobile Satellite Service/Ancillary Terrestrial Component), is proposed for utilizing efficiently the exist MSS bands. Studies on the adjacent channel interference from the existing terrestrial mobile services and MSS/ATC itself are important to allocate a new ATC service frequency in MSS band. In this paper, we have analyzed the minimum permission power of terrestrial base station and the capacity loss with parameters of ACIR, number of MS(mobile Station) and MES(Mobile Earth Station) in uplink, and also, the capacity performance based on 1 beam and 1 cell assumption for MSS/ATC in downlink. The ACIR requirements are estimated in two MSS/ATC frequency allocation scenarios for 5 MHz and 10 MHz guard band to share spectrum with adjacent systems, and according to these ACIR requirements the service coverage and the receiver filter for ATC system should be designed in near future.

  • An X-band contiguous band diplexer is realized by using asymmetrical coupled microstrip lines. The design is based on the singly terminated low pass prototype filter and optimized by using SuperCompack. The designed channel 1 and channel 2 bandwidth is 22%, and 18% respectively, where the center frequency is 9,11 GHz. The measured results of the fabricated diplexer are in good agreement with the designed ones, but the measured insertion loss is slightly highier(0.5dB) than those of the designed value.

  • 무선 메쉬 네트워크(WMN, Wireless Mesh Network)에서의 전체적인 성능은 채널의 간섭을 최소화함으로써 개선될 수 있다. 본 논문은 3개의 멀티 채널을 지원하는 IEEE 802.11b/g 기반 WMNs를 위해 제안된 클러스터 기반 채널 할당 기법인 CB-CA(Cluster-Based Channel Assignment)[3] 알고리즘을 멀티 라디오 멀티 채널 WMN 환경에 적합하게 개선시키고자 한다. CB-CA 알고리즘에서는 메쉬 라우터들중에 선택된 클러스터 헤드(CH, Cluster Head) 노드들과 클러스터들 간의 에지 게이트웨이(EG, Edge Gateway) 노드들 간에는 모두 동일 채널을 사용함으로써 채널 스캐닝과 채널 스위칭을 수행하지 않는다. 그러나 이러한 모든 CH들과 EG들 간의 동일 채널의 사용은 많은 노드들에서 채널 간섭을 발생 시키는 문제점이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위하여 송수신 인터페이스를 구분하고 각 인터페이스에서의 채널을 랜덤하게 설정하고 이를 통신 범위 내에 인접한 이웃 클러스터들에게 알림으로써 서로 간섭이 발생하지 않는 채널들이 설정되도록 한다. 이로써 각 클러스터 간의 채널 간섭을 최소화 할 수 있음과 동시에 다중 인터페이스와 다중 채널을 모두 활용할 수 있어서 QoS를 향상시킬 수있다.

Design and Implementation an RF-state for WLL multichannel personal stations (WLL 다중채널 단말기용 RF단 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, We designed and implemented an RF module for WLL multi-channel personal stations. Then, we experimentally evaluated in receiving sensitivity, adjacent channel interference selectivity and spurious response limit. From the measurement results on the RF module for WLL multi-channel personal stations, we observed and confirmed as follows: First, the variation in output power level was kept to be less than 30 dBm in the range of the input power level from -90 dBm to -30dBm. This measurement result confirmed the dynamic range of 60 dB. Secondly, at the output stage of the RF module, the gain flatness in the pass band was measured to be less than 2dB, which confirmed a precise control of the bandspread signals. Thirdly, at the RF module, the bandwidth and power level in transmission were measured to be 10 MHz, respectively we note that these features satisfy the design specifications.

  • 8SQAM(8-state Superposed Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) being a new modem technique for use in power and bandwidth limited digital communication system generates output signals which have a mか and continuous phase transition and a reduced envelope fluctuation by keeping correlation between amplitudes and phases of two subsequent symbols. Also, 8SQAM signal is free of inter-symbol interference(ISI), and has a compact power spectrum. Accordingly 8SQAM, as compared with a conventional 8PSK, is influenced a little by inter-modulation(IM), inter-symbol interference(ISI) and adjacent channel interference(ACI) in a nonlinearly amplified multi-channel(SCPC-FDMA) environment. In this paper, the performance of 8SQAM system in a nonlinearly amplified multi-channel interference environment is analyzed via computer simulation The simulation result shows that 8SQAM outperforms 8PSK with roll-off value of $\alpha$ = 0.3 by 2.7dB in CNR to maintain BER=1$\times$10$^{-4}$ when input back-off(IBO) of HPA is 1dB and channel space is 41.7% of the data bit rate(i.e., spectral efficiency = 2.40b/s/Hz).

Adaptive Multi-Tap Equalization for Removing ICI Caused by Transmitter Power Transient in LTE Uplink System (LTE 상향 링크 시스템에서 송신기의 전력 과도 현상에 의해 발생하는 ICI를 제거하기 위한 적응적 멀티 탭 등화 기법)

  • This paper studies a method for reducing performance degradation due to losing sub-carrier orthogonality caused by power transient between physical channels in LTE uplink transmission. The pattern of inter-carrier interference(ICI) caused by power transient is different from what has been studied for doppler shift, in that its pattern occurs at front and rear sides of channels in each period of power transient. The reason of ICI's occurrence results from power difference between channels, power transient duration, multi-path channel delay spread, and numbers of sub-carrier. New criterion is proposed to find out number of taps of multi-tap equalizer enough to improve the ICI. The scheme is to determine the number of taps of multi-tap equalizer when a normalized interference or a normalized ICI is greater than a normalized noise. Simulation results show that the number of taps is flexibly adjusted according to SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of a received signal to improve Bit Error Rate(BER), while the complexity of the proposed scheme is reduced down to 88 percentage of the classical method.
