The Origin of K orean Online Game Industry : Networks of 'Butterflies' (한국 온라인 게임 산업의 기원 : '나비들'의 네트워크)

  • This paper analyzes system builders and their human networks of the Korean online game industry. By the early 2000s, Korea became one of the major online gaming countries in the world. In this period, important factors included the existence of system builders and their solid human networks. The few innovators who assisted the breakthrough of the development of the online gaming industry formed a human network in universities and IT companies. They shared innovations in information and collectively learned the conventions of the industry. In their achievement, the human networks which had already fully formed in the late 1990s became more noticeable. This paper, with its historical approach, will complement the limits shown by existing researches that, in their effort to find the causes for the success of the Korean online game industry, focus rather narrowly on the conditions of the period during which online games were becoming popular.

An Activity-Performer Bipartite Matrix Generation Algorithm for Analyzing Workflow-supported Human-Resource Affiliations (워크플로우 기반 인적 자원 소속성 분석을 위한 업무-수행자 이분 행렬 생성 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an activity-performer bipartite matrix generation algorithm for analyzing workflow-supported human-resource affiliations in a workflow model. The workflow-supported human-resource means that all performers of the organization managed by a workflow management system have to be affiliated with a certain set of activities in enacting the corresponding workflow model. We define an activity-performer affiliation network model that is a special type of social networks representing affiliation relationships between a group of performers and a group of activities in workflow models. The algorithm proposed in this paper generates a bipartite matrix from the activity-performer affiliation network model(APANM). Eventually, the generated activity-performer bipartite matrix can be used to analyze social network properties such as, centrality, density, and correlation, and to enable the organization to obtain the workflow-supported human-resource affiliations knowledge.

A Human Resource Perspective on the Industrial Convergence: An Unbalanced Bipartite Network Approach (인적자원, 전공, 산업융합의 구조: 비대칭 이분네트워크의 활용)

  • Prior research regarding the macro patterns of industry convergence has focused on the inter-industry patent network and cross-industry movements of products or services. This article provides a novel approach, according to which human resources embodying explicit and implicit knowledge and technologies are important media driving industry convergence. Drawing on GOMS data (2015-2019) and using information of university graduates' academic majors and their occupations, this article proposes an analytic strategy by which to understand the macro patterns and structural features of industry convergence. Specifically, we build unbalanced bipartite networks of major-industry (occupation) relations, and construct the measures of the industry's niche width and the measure of the average degree of convergence of majors that each industry is linked to. By crossing the two measures, we identify four groups of industries(occupations); specialist, generalist, partial convergence, and full convergence. The convergence group is composed of industries (occupations) that acquire human resources from a number of academic majors each of which plays a role of glue connecting several local industries.

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm for generating role-performer bipartite matrix for analyzing BPM-based human resource affiliations. Firstly, the proposed algorithm conducts the extraction of role-performer affiliation relationships from ICN(Infromation Contorl Net) based business process models. Then, the role-performer bipartite matrix is constructed in the final step of the algorithm. Conclusively, the bipartite matrix generated through the proposed algorithm ought to be used as the fundamental data structure for discovering the role-performer affiliation networking knowledge, and by using a variety of social network analysis techniques it enables us to acquire valuable analysis results about BPM-based human resource affiliations.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the correlation between network and firm's performance by analyzing the perception and characteristics of network of business founder and investor from the perspective of the network. We selected a TIPS support program which is evaluated to be a best practice as a research target for empirical analysis. The empirical results using social network and statistical analysis, shows that the stronger the investor's network connectivity, the more likely it is that the investor's start - up succeeds in attracting subsequent investment. In addition, both the entrepreneurial team and the management think that the internal human network between the enterprise and the investor plays an important role in inducing investment or exploring the company, and recognizes that the value of the human network will have a significant influence on the enterprise value evaluation or investment decision.

  • This study suggests a model for building governance system to develop and utilize human resources in Chungnam province. In particular, In the regional level of balanced development of human resources, the study tries to investigate alternatives to utilize regional human resources development by building and using a network between related organizations through their partnership and cooperative relations. This survey was conducted to 250 of personnel and experts who were in charge of human resources in diverse chungnam institutions through mail or e-mail from December in 2008 to February in 2009. As a result of the survey, the study shows that basic groundwork for the regional human resources development is poor in terms of forming the system and its plans, and the ties and cooperation between related organization, Therefore this study shows that in order to overcome the current situation and build the governance appropriate to Chungnam area, we need to consider different approaches for each regional organization stage by stage regarding the maturity in the governance.

  • 본고에서는 미래 스마트 사회(Smart Society) 국가 ICT 인프라 전략으로 스마트 인프라 추진방향을 제시한다. 스마트 인프라는 스마트 인적역량, 법제도, 거버넌스, 네트워크 인프라 등으로 구성되는 디지털 사회간접자본으로서 국가사회 전반의 정보화 하부구조를 이루게 된다. 이에 미래 스마트 사회로의 변화에 따른 스마트 인프라 구성요소별 추진방향을 제안하고, 현재 ICT정책 추진현황에 대한 고찰을 기반으로 스마트 네트워크 중심의 스마트 인프라 추진방향을 제시한다.

  • Impact of online social network to cyber community has increased much attention recently. The biggest challenge in fostering a social network is to the extent whether it helps to build human capital network or social community. We propose what critical factors influence the formation of online capital network. The study uses three independent factors as motivation, self disclosure, and interactivity and two dependent factors as knowledge sharing and strengthening relationships to create virtual capital connection. Data collected from 256 university students to test the proposed model. The results of the study shows that all hypothesis are supported except one with strengthening relationship. Implications and limitations of this research are discussed.

  • 정보화의 선진국인 미국은 정보전 시대에서는 인적자원의 능력에 따라 전쟁의 승패가 좌우됨으로 교육을 통해 관련 개념을 통일시키고, 통일된 개념 하에 소요되는 인력을 분야별로 육성 및 관리하여 수행해야 할 작전 범위와 영역에 적합하게 조직화를 시키고, 수행절차를 각종 규정을 통해 강력하게 추진하고 있는데 우리도 이와 같은 선진국의 사례를 분석하여 단순히 소프트웨어나 하드웨어, 기술적인 도구를 확보하면 정보보호가 가능하다는 생각에서 벗어나 개념정립으로부터, 방어전략의 수립, 규정과 지침작성, 필요한 인적자원의 확보 및 관리, 작전수행 방법의 정립, 필요한 기술의 확보 등 체계적인 준비가 필요할 것으로 판단이 된다.

  • 실리콘밸리는 보이지 않는 인적 네트워크(Human Network)로 움직인다. 실리콘밸리내 핵심정보와 세상 돌아가는 진짜 이야기는 인종별, 대학출신별, 출신기업별 소그룹 네트워크를 통해서만 이루어진다. 본 연구에서는 실리콘밸리라고 하는 창조적 공간과의 연결고리 강화를 통해 미래기회를 선점하기 위한 수단으로서 $\ulcorner$한국계 벤처 네트워크$\lrcorner$ 를 촉진하는 방안에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 중국, 인도, 이스라엘 등 각 민족별 네트워크가 본국과 실리콘밸리간에 어떠한 협력관계를 보이고 있는가를 조사.분석한 후, 여러가지 가설을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 각 민족별 역사적 이민과정 및 배경에 따라 네트워크의 특성이 달라진다. 둘째, 본국의 산업발전 정도에 따라 본국과 실리콘밸리내 네트워크간의 관계가 달라진다. 셋째, 본국의 정책적 의지가 얼마나 강하냐에 따라 네트워크 활동의 강도도 달라진다. 넷째, 연구모형 인자간의 흐름방향에 따라 본국과 실리콘밸리 간의 역할 관계가 다르게 나타난다. 아울러 본 연구에서는 각 민족별 네트워크의 특성을 비교 분석한 후, 한국계 벤처 네트워크의 모델도 함께 제시하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 관찰 및 분석을 바탕으로, 한국계 Global Network 발전방안에 대한 정책적인 제안을 제시하였다.
