단축압축 하의 암석 브릿지에서의 균열 결합 (Crack Coalescence in Rock Bridges under Uniaxial Compression)

  • 암석은 지질학적 생성과정으로 인해 많은 역학적 결함을 포함하고 있으며 이러한 결함 사이에는 암석 브릿지가 존재하게 된다. 이러한 암석 브릿지에서의 균열의 전파 및 결합(coalescence)과정은 터널의 안정성에 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 단축압축 하에서 균열의 형상변화에 따른 암석 브릿지에서의 균열의 개시, 전파 및 결합거동 변화를 강화석고의 일종인 Diastone과 여산 대리석 시료에 대해 알아보았다. 하중을 가하면서 날개형 균열 개시응력, 날개형 균열 전파각도, 균열결합 응력을 측정하였으며, 전단, 인장, 혼합형의 3가지 균열결합 유형이 나타났다. 또한, 정규화된 최대강도(normalized peak strength)를 구하여 Ashby & Hallam 모형(1986)의 이론해와 비교, 분석하였다.

CFRC 복합재료의 기계적 고온특성 (The Mechanical Properties of CFRC under High Temperature)

  • 초고온용 내열성 재료인 CFRC(carbon fiber reinforced carbon)에 대하여 고온 하에서 기계적 물성을 측정하기 위하여 특수 제작한 고온로 속에서 $2000^{\circ}C$끼지 압축 및 굽힘강도 실험을 수행했다. 시편에 균일한 단축응력이 걸리도록 압축시험용과 4점 굽힘시험용 흑연으로된 치공구를 개발하여 실험했다. 시험결과 CFRC의 온도와 밀도가 증가함에 따라 강도가 증가하는 특성을 거시적으로 설명했으며, 고온하에서 시험기법을 부분적으로 정립했다. 8주자직으로 직조된 CFRC에 일반 강화섬유 복합재료에 적용되는 ASTM의 굽힘시험법에 따라 시편의 L(스판길이)/h(높이) 비를 정하는 것은 부적합함을 확인하고, 인장강도/층간 전단강도의 비에 따라 이 비율을 결정하는 새로운 식과 굽힘에 대한 파손 기준식을 제시했다.

  • Aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with various amounts of $Al_2O_3$ short fibers have been produced by rheo-compocasting accompanied by hot pressing. When composites reinforced with fibers are produced by rheo-compocasting, S-L process is the most effective method for homogeneous dispersion of fibers. A sound composites with the improved orientation(3 dimension${\rightarrow}$2 dimension) of the fibers and increased volume fraction of them have been fabricated through the hot pressing of the casted composites. Fibers are broken down when rheo-compocasting, hot pressing, and $T_6$ treating. Among them fibers are broken down most heavily in the hot pressing. And even in the case of the composite reinforced with 30 vol% fibers, which showed the hardest fiber break down, aspect ratio(11.6) is higher than critical aspect ratio(10.7). The fiber strengthening effect in the composites has showed upto 573K. As the test temperature increases to the range of 573K, the effect has been higher. The fracture of composites is controlled by fiber from room temperature to 473K, but the fracture of composites is controlled by interface between fiber and matrix alloy above 473K.

  • TiC 입자를 강화재로 한 AI금속기지 복합재료를 액상교반법으로 제조하는데 따른 제조조건과 물성특성과의 관계를 조사하였다. TiC 입자는 중량비 10%를 첨가하였으며, 젖음성을 향상시키기 위하여 1.5wt%의 Mg을 첨가하였다. TiC입자 첨가에 의하여 내마모 특성, 인장강도, 경도 등이 증가 되었으나 과도한 교반은 기계적 특성을 저하시켰다. 본 실험조건에서 교반 속도의 최적조건은 500rpm이었다. Wetting agent로서 첨가한 Mg은 기지에 고루 분산하였다.

  • 우레탄 아크릴레이트에 montmorillonite(MMT)를 첨가한 UV 경화형 나노복합체 제조 시 사용하는 광개시제의 종류에 따른 기계적 성질 및 내흡수성을 조사하였다. 1 wt%의 MMT가 첨가될 경우 가장 우수한 인장강도와 내흡수성을 나타내었으며, 광개시제의 경우 기존의 benzyldimethylketal 계열 광개시제와 bisacyl phosphine oxide 계열의 광개시제를 함께 사용할 경우 3 wt%의 MMT 함량에서도 사용된 UV 램프의 방출 파장대인 340~450 nm에서의 광흡수가 강화되어 나노복합체의 경화거동에 보다 효과적인 것으로 확인되었다.

스트란드형 유리섬유 강화 복합재료의 특수환경에 대한 내구성 시험 (Durability Test on E-Glass Fiber Reinforced Composites of Strand Type in Specific Environment)

  • The effect of various environmental conditions on the durability of E-glass fiber/vinylester resin composites have been investigated using the tensile test specimen of strand type. It was found that the durability test method performed by the stand type specimen was more convenient and reliable than other conventional test method. The weight gains increased with the immersion time in both water and alkaline solution, and the Weight gains at $50^{\circ}C$. were much bigger than those at $20^{\circ}C$ in both conditions. The tensile strength decreased with the pass of immersion time in all aqueous solution, and the tensile strength at $80^{\circ}C$ in alkaline solution decreased very steeply at beginning of immersion time. The decrement of tensile strength according to the immersion time in various environmental conditions was mainly caused by the degradation of interface and the damage of glass fiber surface.

섬유배향과 일방향 섬유배향각 변화에 다른 복합재료의 인장강도 비교 (The comparison of the tensile strength of fiber-reinforced composites according to the change of fiber orientat and fiber orientation angle in one direction)

  • After we experiment one direction fiber reinforced composites$(\theta\;=\;0^{\circ},\;J=1)$ to the X direction$(\theta\;=\;0^{\circ},\;J=1)$, we can say that fiber orientation efficiency and fiber orientation angle efficiency become lower. It is because the more the fabric is orientated in a equal direction with one direction fiber floor the more the load given from the exterior becomes shear rather than tension, even though one direction fiber floor gets the most of the exterior power. when fiber content ration is $10wt\%$, the fiber reinforcement efficiency of J=0.3 is similar with the fiber reinforcement efficiency of $\theta=30^{\circ}$ We also found that the fiber reinforcement efficiency of J=0.2 is similar with the fiber reinforcement efficiency of $\theta=20^{\circ}$ in case of $20wt\%$.

아세토페논을 함유한 Poly(phenylene sulfide)의 광가교에 의한 내열성과 인장인성 강화 (The Improvement of Thermal Stability and Tensile Toughness by the Photocrosslinking of Poly(phenylene sulfide) containing Acetophenone)

  • Poly(phenylene sulfide) films containing acetophenone as a photoinitiator were photocrosslinked under UV irradiation using a continuous UV irradiator. The gel fraction of the irradiated PPS in 1-Chloro naphthalene reached 94.7% with increasing UV energy and the photoinitiator concentration in the film upto $200J/cm^2$ and 12wt% respectively. Solid state $^1C$ NMR analysis suggested that the crosslinking occurred between the phenylene chains in PPS, indicating that the acetophenone may the phenylene hydrogens and subsequently adjacent polymer radicals could be recombined to form the crosslinked structure. The crosslinking improved the thermal behavior of PPS such as loss of $T_g$ and $T_c$, higher melting point and lower melting enthalphy as well as significantly higher peak pyrolysis temperature as much as $63.5^{\circ}C$. Surprisingly the tensile toughness of the most crosslinked PPS increased by 842%, resulting from the substantial enhancements in tensile modulus, strength and strain as much as 76%, 236% and 240% respectively. Also dynamic mechanical measurement indicated that the distance between crosslinks in the crosslinked PPS reached 85.3 g/mol corresponing to a crosslink density of 0.012 mol/g.

다이캐스팅법에 의해 제조된 SiC 입자강화 알루미늄합금기 복합재료의 미세조직 및 인장특성 (Microstructure and Tensile Properties of $SiC_p$-reinforced Aluminum Alloy Composites Fabricated by Die Casting Method)

  • The main objective of this study is to investigate the microstructure and tensile strength of $SiC_p$/Al alloy composites fabricated by die casting method. Die casting was performed using the preheated mold at the pouring temperature range of $620{\sim}750^{\circ}C$ under the pressure of $1,039 kgf/cm^2$. The low speed and a following high injection speed were 0.4 and 2.1 m/s, respectively. The microstructure of $SiC_p$/Al alloy composites fabricated by die casting method was found to be finer than that of composites fabricated by gravity casting. Also, SiC particulates were homogeneously distributed in refined Al matrix due to rapid solidification. The tensile strength of $SiC_p$/Al alloy composites fabricated by die casting method was found to be varied with cast temperature. The maximun tensile strength of $SiC_p$(10 vol.% and 20 vol.%)/Al alloy composites showed 380 MPa at the cast temperature of $750^{\circ}C$ and 363 MPa at the cast temperature of $700^{\circ}C$, respectively.

섬유강화 복합재료의 인장 및 굽힘에 의한 파괴 (Fracture Behavior of Fiber Reinforced Composites under tensile and Bending Loadings)

  • The study was conducted to evaluate reliability of the longitudinal tensile properties of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composites. Two kinds of carbon fiber reinforced composites laminates were tested in order to examine the factors of variability and have the information concerning reliability improvement. Temperature dependence of the strength and its variability were investigated by means of testing at two kinds of temperatures. Statistical distributions of the respective mechanical properties were obtained from the tensile tests. As a result, strength of composites was directly proportional to the ultimate strain and was not proportional to the elastic modulus. The fracture behavior in bending of notched plate was studied for a composite material. The uniform bending tests of notched plates have been carried out for a wide range of notch radii. The experiment shows that the nominal stress at failure decreased with decreasing notch radius and it approaches a constant value when the notch radius is less than about 0.3mm. The critical maximum stress is governed by notch root radius alone in the case of a constant thickness of specimen.
