  • The recent increase of ground subsidence in Korea requires the development of technology for predicting the possibility of ground subsidence. Eighteen parameters affecting the ground subsidence for pre-excavation are classified into 6 categories considering ground types, groundwater, and external factors. Eighteen parameters consists of a table which gives ground subsidence risk ratings for pre-excavation(GSRp). Certain scores are given to these parameters after they are divided into several classes considering the importance and the credibility of parameters and the engineering judgements of the authors. Because of the difference of ground subsidence factors depending on the ground and field conditions, weighting factors for the individual factor and for the each category are multiplied. Weighting factors are calculated from citation frequencies of influencing factors. Ground subsidence risk ratings for pre-excavation can be quantified by considering the individual score of each parameter and weighting factors for the individual factor and for the each category. The suggested GSRp tables obtained from this study are expected to be used by engineers for the estimation of ground subsidence risk ratings for pre-excavation sites.

LIS에서 산출 가능한 인자는 Energy Balance, Water Balance, Surface/Subsurface State, Evaporation, Hydrologic, Cold Season Processes, Compared Data, Carbon 등 9개로 분류되며 약 78개의 인자를 산출한다.

  • The Build-Transfer-Lease(BTL) system is a new way of attracting private capital to social infrastructure construction projects. Private companies will get back their investment by leasing facilities to the government. In January 2005, government introduces a 'Korean New Deal Policy' to initiate BTL system in the field of social infrastructure development such as education, public welfare, housing, culture etc. As BTL being still in premature phase, thus it is lack of knowledge in BTL and there is no such studies about problems and impacts of BTL projects. However, there could be so many problems underlying within BTL projects. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to identify various risk factors during implementation of BTL projects. For this purpose, five BTL undertaking projects were studied. Field survey was conducted based-on interview instruments. Prevailing risk factors in operating the BTL Project were collected from the both officials of project promoters and concessionaires. In addition, a distinct need has emerged for analysis of risk factors for BTL projects. Based on real cases, this study resulted in risk factors influencing every phases and grouped risk factors into each phase. Moreover, this study also perform sensitivity analysis in order to know how risk factors affect to BTL projects. From analyzing the data, the study addresses that both major BTL project participants 'the competent authority' and 'Special purpose company(SPC)' have many problems and difficulties to operate the projects.

  • There are several purpose to introduce microorganism into the Soil. The major purpose is to promote plant growth and inhibit plant pathogens. The model example is to put in nitrogen fixing symbiotic bacteria, Pythium and Rhizobium. In order to achieve the intended goal, the introduced microorganism should survive and colonize with sufficient density. The survival of introduced microorganism depend upon biotic and abiotic factors. Predation and competition are important among biotic factor. Water tension, organic carbon, inorganic nutrients(N, P), pH are important factor among abiootic factor. Soil texture and distribution of soil pore are also important in the survival and colonization of introduced microorganism. Selection by soil ecosystem for inoculant is a crucial factor for colonization. Good example are control of autochtonous microorganism and the introduction of surfactant biodegrading Pseudomonas. Sometimes, carriers such as peat and montmorillonite can be added to help colonization. Carriers can protect introduced microorganism by supplying protective microhabitat. Organic polymer is also used as a carrier to immobilize bacteria or industrial enzymes. Examples of these carrier are calcium alginate, agarose and k-carrageenan. The function of these carrier is to provide microhabitat and help colonization for introduced microorganism.

  • It is well known that exercise may have a positive effects on dementia. However, most of dementia-related studies were performed about symptom care, diverse treatment and drug treatment. Although regular physical exercise plays an important role of brain function and dementia prevention, only a few research studies showed the effect of physical exercise on dementia and brain function. This study is to investigate about the sleep-related factors (melatonin, serotonin), dementia-related factors (BDNF, beta-amyloid, IGF-1, Irisin, GLUT) with physical exercise. This study revealed that Myokine (Irisin, IGF-1), GLUT and Melatonin is an important factors to improve or sometimes delay the symptoms of dementia through BDNF activation following endurance exercise. However, these results were controversal following the various kinds of exercise type, mode, duration and exercise intensity and so forth. Therefore, further mechanism study about exercise and dementia is urgently needed in this area.
