  • This study examines cases of digital humanities education programs at universities, university libraries and digital humanities centers in the United States. As a result of the research, it was analyzed that the university-centered education program operates in conjunction with other departments to take courses related to humanities and digital technology in general. The digital humanities education program is not operated as a full degree program, but most programs are operated as graduate certificate programs, and it is required to require a graduate degree in library and information science and humanities in advance. Most of the digital humanities centers run educational programs centered on faculty and postdoctoral researchers in universities in connection with universities and university libraries to support the humanities scholars. Lastly, the university's digital humanities education program is operated in the form of research support for students and researchers of all majors. In addition, the content of the educational program focused on the practice for digital projects rather than theory. Empowering digital literacy and supporting digital technology-based research has become a new role for university libraries, which requires libraries to play a central role in digital humanities education.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a character education program based on self-reflection using a liberal arts course at university. To this end, a single treatment group pre- and post-design was conducted in which data were collected at the beginning and end of the semester for 18 students. For statistical estimation suitable for a small sample size, a non-parametric test was performed to examine the significant mean changes of the data. This program was found to significantly improve the level of self-compassion, life satisfaction, and mental well-being of university students. Based on the above results, it was discussed that the liberal arts course for character education based on self-reflection could be useful as a character education for university students, and the implications and suggestions of the results of this study were presented.

  • The advancement of online technology in the 21st century has increased online courses and web-based communication in higher education. This type of education is not limited by time or location and has made it possible to expand university campuses globally and broaden the reach of university education to the general public and students from other universities. Changes such as a decrease in the school-age population and a reorganization of the university structure have also created an opportunity to change the perception of online education. In this paper, we conducted surveys on K University students, high school seniors, and the general public to assess their satisfaction with online courses, identify areas that require massive online courses, and determine students' needs for the operation of massive online courses. The survey showed that K University students are generally satisfied with online courses. However, improvements are needed to ensure a smooth online course-taking environment, increase system uniformity, and enhance the overall online course environment. High school students have a strong preference for natural science and should be offered online courses in subjects such as mathematics and physics as prerequisites to prepare for their major classes. The general public prefers the humanities, which is evident in the purpose of the liberal arts lectures.

  • The university is a top-level educational institution that requires not only the education of undergraduate and graduate students but also the education of ordinary citizens in the community. However, in civil society, university education is mainly focused on lifelong education, and additional measures are needed for universities to implement more education about civil society. Since 2014, the Korea Research Foundation has implemented humanities city support projects, and universities have implemented programs such as humanities lectures, humanities experiences, and humanities week by utilizing local humanities assets. Although these projects are meaningful in that they are carried out through the medium of the area where the university is located, and the scope of participation is wider than that of previous academic projects related to humanities, because they are still carried out by one-off projects, a regional literature center should be established that can continue to conduct the projects even after completion. Furthermore, an efficient network should be established with the institutions in the area in which the university is located.
