Analysis of Artificial Intelligence's Technology Innovation and Diffusion Pattern: Focusing on USPTO Patent Data (인공지능의 기술 혁신 및 확산 패턴 분석: USPTO 특허 데이터를 중심으로)

  • The artificial intelligence (AI) is a technology that will lead the future connective and intelligent era by combining with almost all industries in manufacturing and service industry. Although Korea is one of the world's leading artificial intelligence group with the United States, Japan, and Germany, but its competitiveness in terms of artificial intelligence patent is relatively low compared to others. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out quantitative analysis of artificial intelligence patents in various aspects in order to examine national competitiveness, major industries and future development directions in artificial intelligence technology. In this study, we use the IPC technology classification code to estimate the overall life cycle and the speed of development of the artificial intelligence technology. We collected patents related to artificial intelligence from 2008 to 2018, and analyze patent trends through one-dimensional statistical analysis, two-dimensional statistical analysis and network analysis. We expect that the technological trends of the artificial intelligence industry discovered from this study will be exploited to the strategies of the artificial intelligence technology and the policy making of the government.

  • An Intelligent information society means intelligent superconducting society that goes beyond information society where information is centered. Now that artificial intelligence is specifically discussed, it is time to start discussing the laws and systems for intelligent information society, where artificial intelligence plays a key role. At some point it may be too late to cope with singularity. Of course, it is not easy to predict how artificial intelligence will change our society. However, there are concerns on what kind of relationship should humans build with AI in the intelligent information society where algorithms rule the world or at least support decision making of humans. What is obvious is that humans dominating AI or ruling out AI will not be the answer. Discussions for legal framework to respond to the AI-based intelligent information society needs to be achieved to a level that replaces the current human-based legal framework with AI. This is because legal improvement caused by the paradigm shift to the intelligent information society may assume emergence of new players-AI, robots, and objects-and even their subjectivation.

Development of hybrid artificial reef and basic structural performance tests (복합형 인공어초의 개발 및 구조 성능 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a new type of hybrid artificial reef that can solve the problems of construction, installation and operation of existing concrete type and steel type artificial reef, and to evaluate basic structural performance through static loading test. For this purpose, we evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of concrete type and steel type artificial reef in literature, and developed a new type of hybrid artificial reef which can effectively overcome the problems of each artificial reefs while maintaining the advantages of two artificial reefs as an alternative respectively. In order to evaluate the merits of the proposed hybrid artificial reef, it was confirmed that the possibility of securing the convenience of the proposed hybrid artificial reef in the field and the possibility of securing the desired advantages were confirmed. Also, the static loading test was performed to evaluate the basic structural performance of the artificial reef. Through the above study, it was confirmed that the developed hybrid artificial reef exhibited proper structural performance while securing easiness of making and assemble.mm) can be predicted to have a low value up to 60% of the strength of cylinders without reinforcement.

  • Generally, the existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems were designed for specific purposes and their capabilities handle only specific problems. Alternatively, Artificial General Intelligence can solve new problems as well as those that are already known. Recently, General Video Game Playing the game AI version of General Artificial Intelligence, has garnered a large amount of interest among Game Artificial Intelligence communities. Although video games are the sole concern, the design of a single AI that is capable of playing various video games is not an easy process. In this paper, we propose a GreedyUCB1 algorithm and rollout method that were formulated using the knowledge from a game analysis for the Monte-Carlo Tree Search game AI. An AI that used our method was ranked fourth at the GVG-AI (General Video Game-Artificial Intelligence) competition of the IEEE international conference of CIG (Computational Intelligence in Games) 2014.

A Study on the Factors Affecting the Intention to Use Artificial Intelligence Speakers of the People with Physical Disability (지체장애인의 인공지능 스피커 사용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the impact of cognitive and emotional factors on artificial intelligence speakers on the intention of using artificial intelligence speakers. The method for this study was online surveys of people with physical disability. The recognition and necessity of artificial intelligence speakers were also identified, the perceived intimacy, joy, and intention to use them, and a multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to check the influence of each variable on the intention of the disabled to use artificial intelligence speakers. This study have shown that the perceived enjoyment of AI speakers in people with disabilities has shown a significant static effect on their intended use. However, the recognition and necessity of artificial intelligence speakers of the physically handicapped, as well as the perceived intimacy, do not have a statistically significant impact on the intention of using artificial intelligence speakers, according to the analysis. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to strengthen the elements of enjoyment in order to improve the intention of the disabled to use artificial intelligence speakers, and it is meaningful in that it provides basic data to develop artificial intelligence products and customized services for people with disabilities.

The Artificial Intelligence Literacy Scale for Middle School Students

  • Although the importance of literacy in Artificial Intelligence (AI) education is increasing, there is a lack of testing tools for measuring such competency. To address this gap, this study developed a testing tool that measures AI literacy among middle school students. This goal was achieved through the establishment of an expert group that was enlisted to determine the relevant factors and items covered by the proposed tool. To verify the reliability and validity of the developed tool, a field review, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. These procedures resulted in a testing tool comprising six domains that encompass 30 items. The domains are the social impact of AI (eight items), the understanding of AI (six items), AI execution plans (five items), problem solving with AI (five items), data literacy (four items), and AI ethics (two questions). The items are to be rated using a five-point Likert scale. The internal consistency of the tool was .970 (total), while that of the domains ranged from .861 to .939. This study can serve as reference for developing the analysis of AI literacy, teaching and learning, and evaluation in AI education.

The Effect of the Artificial Intelligence Storytelling Education Program on the Learning Flow (인공지능 스토리텔링 교육 프로그램이 학습 몰입도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of artificial intelligence storytelling education program designed to help learning artificial intelligence based on storytelling, the most important element of human intelligence, on learning flow. To this end, a 16-hour artificial intelligence education program was designed and developed, and applied over 8 weeks to 19 gifted students in 5th and 6th grades of elementary school. Artificial intelligence storytelling education program was developed in the form of teaching and learning course plans for each class and storybooks. Artificial intelligence storytelling education program application results showed significant improvements in average scores in all 9 sub-factors of learning flow, including combination of challenges and abilities, integration of behavior and consciousness, clear goal, concrete feedback, focus on task, sense of control, loss of self-consciousness, Distortion of the sense of time, and self-purpose experience. In other words, it was confirmed that artificial intelligence storytelling education program was effective in improving learning flow.

A Case Study on Artificial Intelligence Education for Non-Computer Programming Students in Universities (대학에서 비전공자 대상 인공지능 교육의 사례 연구)

  • In a society full of knowledge and information, digital literacy and artificial intelligence (AI) education that can utilize AI technology is needed to solve numerous everyday problems based on computational thinking. In this study, data-centered AI education was conducted while teaching computer programming to non-computer programming students at universities, and the correlation between major factors related to academic performance was analyzed in addition to student satisfaction surveys. The results indicated that there was a strong correlation between grades and problem-solving ability-based tasks, and learning satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis also showed a significant effect on grades (F=225.859, p<0.001), and student satisfaction was high. The non-computer programming students were also able to understand the importance of data and the concept of AI models, focusing on specific examples of project types, and confirmed that they could use AI smoothly in their fields of interest. If further cases of AI education are explored and students' AI education is activated, it will be possible to suggest its direction that can collaborate with experts through interest in AI technology.

Exploring the Operating and Supporting Direction of AI Curriculum by Analyzing A High School Case Study

  • This study was conducted to explore the necessary conditions and support for stable operation of an expanded AI curriculum in education. A high school that has implemented an AI curriculum since 2020 was targeted, and students and teachers were surveyed on their perceptions of the AI curriculum, implementation and support strategies. The survey items were categorized into 1) experience with AI education, 2) implementation direction of AI education, and 3) expected effects through AI education, and the results were derived focusing on frequency analysis to identify trends. The analysis resulted in three implications. First, it was suggested that the activation of AI education. Second, the need to develop a hands-on AI curriculum and incorporate AI throughout the entire curriculum was highlighted. Third, it was emphasized that efforts to enhance the capabilities of teachers to implement AI teaching and learning, along with the expansion of physical infrastructure for hands-on education, are necessary.
