Improvement of Pressurizer PROV System through Micro-Computer and PRA (마이크로 컴퓨터와 확률론적 리스크 평가를 통한 가압기 보호계통의 설계 개선)

  • Small break LOCA caused by a stuck-open PORV is one of the important contributors to nuclear power plant risk. This paper deals with the design of a pressurizer surveillance system using microcomputer to prevent the malfunction of system and has assessed the effect of this improvement through Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) method. Micro-computer diagnoses the malfunction of system by a process checking method and performs automatically backup action related to each malfunction. Owing to this improvement, we can correctly diagnose “Spurious Opening”, “Fail to Reclose” and “Small break LOCA” which are difficult for operator to diagnose quickly and correctly and reduce the probability of a human error by an automatic backup action.

The Problem of Individuality and Intrinsic Norms in Canguilhem's Philosophy of Life (캉길렘의 생명철학에서 개체성과 내재적 규범의 문제)

  • George Canguilhem(1904-1995) is one of the rare French philosophers of the 20th century to develop an approach that was shaped by a medical education. For him, medicine is considered as "a technique or an art at the junction of many different sciences, rather than a proper science." The thesis that medicine is a technique is presented not at a practical level, but on an axiological horizon which reflects the totality of humanity. This character of medicine became a motive that concretized Canguilhem's philosophical thinking. Medical knowledge is not an application of physiology, but is derived from clinical observations which are based on the personal experiences of each patient. If medicine were based on scientific knowledge and its practice the very application of this pure knowledge, the patient might be a passive object. However, the patient doesn't remain passive, but reacts to the menace of disease according to attitude that the patient developed over the course of his or her life. Canguilhem characterizes this point as 'normativity', the core of individual life, which eludes positivist medicine. Here appear the essential contents of his vitalism. Although they emphasized the activity of individual living being, other modern French vitalists didn't consider this dimension of norms. Since the normativity in Canguilhem concerns the subjectivity of the first person, it avoids a mechanical form of explanation. Thus Canguilhem's originality is found in his derivation of the essence of medicine from individuality, values and norms.

  • The emergence of post-human beings in the 4th Industrial Revolution era led to an epistemological shift in the need for reflection on new relationships with non-human beings, away from human-centered modern humanism. For this reflection, post-human sensibility to empathize and understand the surrounding world is required. In order to cultivate this sensibility, we analyzed the case of art works that can think about and experience the post-human era based on the criteria of 'animal-becoming', 'earth-becoming', and 'machine-being' presented by post-humanist researcher Bridotti. Since the work of art reflects the spirit of the era, we confirmed the positive aspect of the text that can reflect and experience the post-human era. This study is meaningful as a basic study by presenting art works that can be used in art education to improve post-human sensitivity.

  • 2001년 9.11 사태 이후, 미국과 우방국들은 본격적으로 테러와의 전쟁을 시작하게 되었다. 국제화 시대의 흐름에 따라 국내의 외국인의 영향력이 커져가고 있고, 2011년 11월 11일 서울에서 개최되는 G20 세계정상회의를 앞둔 시점에서 테러에 대한 사전 대응이 중요해졌다. 이를 위해 민 관 군이 협력하여 다양한 정책과 활동을 벌이고 있는데, 데이터 마이닝의 기법 중 신경망 기법을 이용하여 효율적이고 기계적으로 잠재적 테러리스트를 식별하는 방법을 제안한다. 신경망 기법은 인간의 두뇌를 모델로 등장하였고, 입력 자료를 통해 학습한다는 것이 특징이다. 이 신경망을 여러 기관에서 발표한 테러리스트들의 정보를 입력 자료로 변환하여 학습시킨 뒤, 검증을 거쳐 실전에 적용하는 것이 본 논문에서 제안하는 신경망 기법 적용의 목표이다. 개인정보보호에 관한 법률 및 방법론이 보완된다면 실전에서 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • In estimating designed architectural buildings, many factors in various design domains such as function, structure, form, environment may be considered and then a building design might be selected or modified as final design. This paper proposed a method to obtain complexity values from two dimensional drawings which are floor plans or elevations. The method has been developed based on information theory, shape pattern representation and cognitive theory. Results of measuring complexity value can make the computer evaluate and select final results produced from automatic design processes by the computer That is to say, aesthetic values based on order and chaos can be measured using complexity values and then some results having superior values can be selected as final result.

  • this paper, a data modeling method based on decision-making conditions is proposed for making combat and battlefield management systems to be intelligent, which are also a decision-making support system. A picture of a robot seeing and perceiving like humans and arriving a point it wanted can be understood and be felt in body. However, we can't find an example of implementing a decision-making which is the most important element in human cognitive action. Although the agent arrives at a designated office instead of human, it doesn't support a decision of whether raising the market price is appropriate or doing a counter-attack is smart. After we reviewed a current situation and problem in control & command of military, in order to collect a big data for making a machine staff's advice to be possible, we propose a data modeling prototype based on decision-making conditions as a method to change a current control & command system. In addition, a decision-making tree method is applied as an example of the decision making that the reformed control & command system equipped with the proposed data modeling will do. This paper can contribute in giving us an insight of how a future AI decision-making staff approaches to us.

  • A.I. has being developed from the technology for Big data analysis to the technology like a human being. The sensing technology of IOT will make A.I. have the more delicate sense than human's five senses. The computer resource is going to be able to support A.I. by clouding networking technology wherever and whenever. Like this A.I. is getting developed as a golden boy of the latest technologies At the same time, many experts have the anxiety and bleak outlook about A.I. Most of dystopian images of the future come out when the contemplative view is lost or it is not possible to view the phenomena objectively. Or it is because of the absence of confidence and ability to convert from the visions of technology development to the subject visions of human will. This study is not about the mass dismissal, unemployment or the end of mankind by machinery according to the development of A.I. technology and service, but more about the occurrent issue like the personal information invasion in daily life. Also the ethical and institutional models are considered to develop A.I. industry protecting the personal information.

  • Plato learned of teleology from his teacher Socrates and expanded it to its application in cosmology. His cosmological work Timaeus was the final edition of teleological view. The motive that Demiurge created the cosmos was in resemblance of his goodness. He then modeled the idea of the Good imposing limit to the Forms of Good in a material world. In this sense, Demiurge was an excellent creator and created the Good cosmos. The cosmic body was made from four elements (water, fire, air, earth) and the cosmic soul entered the cosmic body and the cosmic intelligence (nous) entered the cosmic soul. According to these steps, this cosmos was created and named a living god. In conclusion, Plato asserts that this cosmos was created by God's teleological project, and resembles the goodness of a god. When man followed the order and balance in the cosmos, the good of the individual and the state would be accomplished.

  • 연구 목적: 본 연구는 인간배아줄기세포 동결에 minimum volume cooling (MVC) 초자화 동결방법이 유용하게 이용될 수 있는지의 여부를 조사하고자 실시하였다. 연구재료 및 방법: 인간배아줄기세포 콜로니는 0.05% collagenase 처리와 기계적 처리에 의해 작은 clumps로 자른 다음 동결 방법에 따른 효율을 비교 검토하고자, i) 대략 40-50개의 clumps를 10% DMSO가 들어있는 동결액에 $5{\sim}10$분간 처리하여 1ml cryo-vial에 넣고 slow-cooling용 cryo-module에 장착하고 -80C에서 overnight한 후 $LN_2$에 침지하여 완만동결을 실시하거나 ii) 10% ethylene glycol (EG)이 들어 있는 동결액에서 5$\sim$10분 처리하고 30% EG과 0.5 mol sucrose가 들어 있는 동결액에서 30초간 처리하여 본 연구를 위해 개발된 MVC straw에 10 clumps씩 적재한 다음 $4{\sim}5$ MVC straw를 $LN_2$가 들어있는 cryo-vial에 넣어 MVC 초자화동결을 실시하였다. 융해 후 생존율을 조사하였고 배아줄기세포의 특성을 유지하고 있는지의 여부를 조사하였다. 결 과: 융해 후, 인간배아줄기세포의 생존율은 완만동결을 실시했던 군 (20.0%) 보다 MVC 초자화동결을 실시했던 군에서 (76.0%) 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 또한 회복과정에서 완만동결을 실시했던 군에서는 세포성장이 매우 더디고 안 좋은 반면, MVC 초자화동결을 실시했던 군은 배아줄기세포의 증식이 동결을 실시하지 않은 세포와 같은 상태로 2주 이후부터 빠르게 전환되고 회복되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 더불어 MVC 초자화동결-융해 후 회복된 배아줄기세포에서 정상 핵형, alkaline phosphatase acitivity, SSEA-4와 TRA-1-60 염색 및 Oct-4 발현을 확인하였으며 체외분화의 특성도 확인하였다. 결 론: 새로이 개발된 MVC 초자화동결을 이용하면 인간배아줄기세포는 고유의 특성을 잃지 않고 성공적으로 동결될 수 있다.

Optimization of Vertical Roller Mill by Using Artificial Neural Networks (신경회로망을 이용한 수직형 롤러 분쇄기의 최적설계)

  • The vertical roller mill is important for machine grinding and mixing various crude materials in the process of producing Portland cement. A vertical roller mill is subjected to cyclic bending stress because of the roller load. Because of the cyclic bending stress, only $4{\times}10^6-8{\times}10^6$ cycles are achieved instead of $4{\times}10^7$ cycles. The stress also causes fractures at the edge of grinding path of the outer roller. The expenses incurred in repairing the grinding path amounts to 30% of the total maintenance cost. Therefore, it is desirable to redesign the vertical roller mill in order to reduce the expenses incurred in repairing the roller. In this study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) were applied in order to solve the multiobjective optimization problem for vertical roller mills by using the function approximation ability of ANNs. To learn and generalize ANNs, the maximum and minimum stresses were estimated from the results of the finite-element analysis of a vertical roller mill. Thus, ANNs could be applied to solve the multiobjective optimization problem.
